Inspired by Mickey1955's post: What is your ODDEST Disney item?

I don't know how odd they are but we have all of the directional signs from the tunnel under the Magic Kingdom at WDW. They are themed for the different lands. Kris

Interesting topic...

As far as odd goes, my film canister of Disneyland Splash Mountain water from 1989 has to take the cake there. Yes, water from Splash Mountain, you see, my family had just moved to Texas, from the L.A. area. I had the oportunity to go back and visit some of my friends that I had just left (this was when I was in high school) and we all did a day at Disneyland. While in the backup of logs returning to the station right before the last scene where Br'er Rabbit has gone back home. "Born and bred in a briar patch and I'm here to STAY!". ANYWAY, some irresponsible guest had thrown their empty 35mm film canister in the show scene, and it was within my reach, so I picked it up. Then I filled it with water and we joked about collectors Splash Mountain water....yadda, yadda, and my friend Sergio.....who I have lost contact, so if anyone knows him, please let me know.....well, he said jokingly, that I should keep it. So I did, and still have it to this very day.

I have a lot of other random things too....

A plastic flower from the original enchanted fountain at the WDW Tiki Room

A child size wet suit from one of the Audio-Animatronics in the underwater classroom scene of Horizons

The top piece of a part of the iron gate that surrounds Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris

A handful of Honey, I Shrunk The Audience "rat tails"

A lab coat from the Imagination Institute

A translation headphone from Honey, I Shrunk the Audience at Disneyland Paris

A "remain seated at all times and supervise children" sign from WDW's Haunted Mansion

A film reel from WDW's Haunted Mansion of Madame Leota

A Test Track costume

A Horizons costume polo shirt

A Universe of Energy costume

A Disneyland Paris Space Mountain costume.....the WHOLE thing...I could go work there tomorrow and not need to go to costuming

and of course....my favorite....

A Disneyland Paris Space Mountain WHEEL

....plus lots more random and bizarre stuff.

YenSid, were you a cast member or something??? Where did you get all of that cool stuff???

Hmm...I would have to say that my oddest item would be a vintage matchbook cover given to me from my uncle that has a picture of a dancing mushroom from Fantasia...

Ummm...probably a leaf from the Swiss Family Treehouse at DL. No wait, it's the baggie of dirt & concrete from the Autopia redo at DL.

These were both parting gifts from the Bruce & David show at the NFFC convention.

......that Scott would have *something* to post to this thread....:D :D .....great collection, Scott.......would love to hear more!....and btw, Merry Christmas!

Kind of RARE, but I know others are around... But it is ODD, and I really like mine!

When the Contemp and the Poly first opened, each room had a vinyl litho on masonite, of a map of the Magic Kingdom (as it was back then), measuring 4 feet by 5 feet, framed in metal and bolt mounted on the wall.

When the first rehab took place (late 80's) , these works of art were torn off the wall and thrown into a scrap heap. The frames were destroyed. The maps were later sold at the property auction for the value of the masonite, $5.00 each! Many were trashed because of the rough treatment.

I found out about them from a friend in Ohio who knew somebody in California that bought a few of them. I got the last one he had, but because it was so big, the only way to ship it was via Greyhound bus! When it came in, I went down to the bus terminal with a pick up, not thinking much about it. It was packed in a huge and heavy wooden crate rated at 135 pounds. It was very well made though... But I carried it through the bus terminal that night and out to the truck! I still remember every step!

We have photos of our room from our first visit to WDW in 1973, at the Contemporary resort. The pics show one of those maps on the wall. Now ours now hangs over our bed, and I look at it every morning and every night. And every time I look at it, I recall the "magic" of our first trip to Walt Disney World.

Hello there DaisyCrazy and the whole family...Merry Christmas to you all as well.

I keep wanting to invite the friday nighters over sometime...maybe I can show off my wild and wacky stuff! You would all love to bathroom that is dedicated to the thrill rides of the world. A quick example of what you can expect there....when you sit on the only thing that you can sit on in the bathroom...you will find in front of you a sign from DLP's Space Mountain telling you to keep your head back, and not lean forward. But don't worry, there is no safety harness......

.....yet.

Scott... A DL Paris Space Mountain Wheel??? Did you wait till the ride was over first???:)

Pin addict---We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour this past November and I would have given anything to have been able to walk out of there with the Fantasyland Sign in the tunnel. Tinker Bell and Mr. Smee. And you have all of them?? I would love to see pictures sometime.

Hope---I have those too. Wonder if the Bruse & David Show will be back this year. It is always quite interesting.
The parking lot dirt was the best. :D
