Inspired by Katie's Real Estate Tax Thread - How Many Kinds of Taxes Do You Pay?

Pennsylvania was at one time called "Land of Taxes." I don't know if that is still true, but it sure seems as if we pay a lot of different kinds of taxes here.
This is a list of what we pay (other than Federal and SS of course) :

Pa. State Income - 2.7% (I THINK )
Pa. Sales Tax - 6% on all "non" essentials
County Real Estate Taxes - I don't know the millage.
County Sales Tax - 1% on all "non" essentials
Borough Head Tax - $10 per adult
Borough Income Tax - 1%
School District Real Estate Taxes - I don't know the millage
Occupational Privilege Tax - varies by where you work - usually $10 a year

How do you compare?

We have sales tax, it varies around the state but here it is 8.25%.

Property tax, is county, school & city. I'm not sure of the percentages of those. At least 2% of house value.

No state income tax thank goodness.

Massachusetts is called Taxachusetts! LOL

We have:

Property (or real estate) tax
State income tax
State sales tax (5%)
Meal tax (added to prepared foods at grocery & restaurants)
Excise tax (once a year for each registered vehicle / trailer)

If there's more, I've probably blocked them from my mind. LOL

I'm in MA and my middle name is "TAXES" this is definetly taxachusetts You name it we pay taxes

ok in the State of New York...

Real estate taxes are $3135.98/year for school taxes... $2178.34 to the county.. and 1998.31 to the Village

8.25% state inocme tax

4.25% New York State slaes tax

3.50 county sales tax

We have income, property, and sales tax. The sales tax is pretty low. I think it's around 5%. But it's on everything. At least when I lived in Texas we didn't pay tax on most food from the grocery store.

They really get us here with car taxes. I think I paid $800 when my Durango was new.
