Inspired by JunieJay. The weirdest gift

First Christmas gift from my dh (then bf) to me was a brick red LLBean sweatshirt. No, no it gets better. He had my name embroidered on it in navy blue. :sad2: I don't know if he thought I might forget my name, or maybe he might? I don't know, terrible, terrible. And the sad part is that he was so excited to give it to me. I ripped the paper off and opened the box and did my best "Wow thanks so much" grimace and he was so sad. He was sure I would love it.

I've been told by my DD's that some of the worst gifts my DH bought me were returned before he could give them to me! :rotfl:

He's usually pretty good, although his taste in clothing was much better when we were younger.

My ex-husband got me a fishing pole our first christmas...now you know why he is my ex  . I sure hope he buys better gifts for his wife he has now :rotfl: .

My boyfriend has been married TWICE already and I get wonderful gifts that ALWAYS fit :rotfl2:

At first I was surprised at his consistency... and then I remembered that I was dealing with a man wo has had A LOT of practice. :lmao:

He spoils me rotten but I am sure that will change a bit as time goes by (we hit 8 months a few days ago). He told me on the night I met him that he was a "flowers and chocolates guy"- I've changed that to a "flowers and CVS gummy bears guy" :thumbsup2 but it really is fun!

My DH used to get me jewelry every Christmas, but one year he decided I had enough (I don't have much occasion to dress up anymore!), so put a little more thought into it. That year when my female co-workers eagerly asked me what DH had bought me for Christmas, and I said (with stars in my eyes), "A heated mattress pad!"

It was such a thoughtful gift, because I'd been complaining about how cold the room and bed were every night. It is to this day one of my favorite Christmas gifts, but my co-workers just thought I was nuts. :confused3

DH got me one of those for Christmas too

Hmmmm.....

Christmas? The weirdest? An Easy Bake Oven. He thought it was funny. It's still in a box, waiting for my DNiece to get old enough to want one.

Ah...but Valentine's Day. Every other year, he does great. The other years, odd. I'm torn between the year he bought me velvet bumpers for our waterbed as a Valentine's gift, and the year after DS was born when he bought me Black Angus ribeyes (in the butcher paper, nonetheless! Fancy!) and a bottle of Johnson&Johnson MENTHOL baby bath with a broken cap (he insisted it broke after he bought it, not before). I had told him just to get me some J&J Lavender Baby Bubble bath and lotion, but the grocery store  was out of lavender.

Sigh.

All that said, he usually does an outstanding job with presents for me. Just a few real odd ones in the past...

(I read all these to him and he almost peed about the Playgirl. Sigh. I wouldn't put it past him...)

It was a birthday present just before we got engaged. He gave me his old hunting jacket. At the time, I wasn't real thrilled as my father is a hunter but I'm not. After a couple of days, I realized how special this jacket was to him and how important I was for him to give it to me. He proposed a month later and we'll be married 25 years in June. Truly a case of it's the thought that counts.

This one made me laugh out loud! :rotfl:

DH, last year, gave me a card that said, "broadway show and dinner in NYC." I asked him what was different about him telling me in a card that he'd take me to NY for dinner and a show vs. me planning for us both to go to NYC for dinner and a show. Either way, I have to do all the work. I told him it's not a gift if I have to plan it. It's like "him taking me" out to dinner for our anniversary and forgetting his credit card. Sure, I'm going to pay the bill in the long run, but it's the thought and effort on his part that counts, especially because I usually lay my cc down after most of our dinners out.

I got a hairdryer two Christmases ago. The thing weighs about 25 lbs. DH said he stepped in a puddle and needed to dry his socks. So his solution -- rather than put them in the clothes dryer -- was to stick it on the end of the hairdryer and turn it on.

Mine had a broken switch but I LOVED that hairdryer, so he figured I needed a new one. He bought the BIGGEST, most expensive monstrosity at ... Wal-Mart.

underwear. But you know how underwear sizes are smaller than pant sizes? Yea, well my husband didn't. At that time I wore a size 22 pants. We affectionately called these "panties" my all in ones. I could put them on and pull them right up to my neck :lmao:
