Mrs. AlabamaAlan used that very phrase this weekend when discussing the return of Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy) to Days of Our Lives.

She said that once upon a time, that pharase would have applied to him. I assume she meant the fictional character and not the actor, but who knows?
