Or had someone else buy your kids a toy and you REALLY hated it??

My brothers are getting smarter now that they all have kids they have figured out what goes around comes around lol so they dont really buy obnoxious toys any more TG!

One thing I think I wish had gone bye bye from the start was this little steering wheel thing it makes ALL kinds of noises and doesnt have a volume control

WE had this riding train thing, that was so loud it would wake the dead... seriously this thing was confined to the basement, and you could still hear it on the top floor of the house..

No volume control either...

Lets see another one was an electric chainsaw for my son (!)... what were they thinking?

Another one was a set of singing Barbies... if I heard Deck the Hall one more time I would have thrown it out the window.

my younger dd fell in love with a doll -- it was one that was programmed by computer to "talk" to you. she thought it would be real conversation, I guess. she played with the doll one day and decided she hated it.

My mother regretted buying us Mousetrap. So much so that none of us have bought it for any of our kids. We loved it but it took long to set up and one about 2 seconds to happen!
I can't think of anything I have bought that I've regretted but I am sure there's been something!

I bought my nephew a drum set LOL! My sister will never forgive me!!!

am not....

I really want to get him a puppy - but I think my sister would just hang me!!!

One Christmas, we bought our boys the "Jaguar" video game system. You say you've never heard of it? Yeah, well it was a big flop, with very few games!

This mechanical construction toy called a Rok n Bok that was very expensive, and was played with a few times. What was I thinking???

I bought my kids a Lego Mindstorms set a few years ago. I spent a lot of coin and I think that my kids were too young to figure it out without help from me. What was I thinking. I spend my entire day programming. The last thing that I want to do when I get home is write more software. Needless to say, this white elephant is sitting in a box in the corner of the basement.

Thanks for the heads up.. now the Rockenbok system is down in price to about $99/starter set now, was $200... my son loves it, but thats encouraging to know that it was fun in strore not at home...

TC What is the Lego Mindstormers? What do you have to do? (This sounds like something Josh would like, but I don't remember that line...)

I jsut thought of two others that my DD received.. ONe was a sleep and snore Ernie.. cute, but not that great.. and another was Pooh Pals, where a mechanical pooh talks to you and plays games...

My son didn't like his Turbo Twist Math, but now he is starting to like it again.

My sister had identical twin boys. When they were 3 years old I gave them both a drum set complete with cymbals. She mentions this wonderful gift every Christmas---to this day. They are over 30 now, you would think she would be over it by now

A cousin of mine gave DS a fireman helmet that had a flashing light on top AND a siren noise on it. It lasted 1 day and then it was never found again;) :p

YES! My in-laws bought my daughter one of those ROBOT BABY things last Christmas that cries and whines until you figure out what it wants. And it DIDN'T HAVE AN OFF SWITCH! Needless to say, after a day of that HUGELY annoying crying the batteries came out of that puppy and the doll has since been given away. :teeth:

OH, I Know that dreaded hat. From Radio Shack, I believe!! It was a gift to DS from one of my then-childless brothers! But, they're not childless anymore. Payback is Wonderful!!! :p ;)

TIP: For any toy w/o volume control, try DUCT TAPE over the speaker part.

DS got a Sesame St. piano about 13 years ago, I taped that sucker right away. DD now plays with it and, the original tape is still intact!! ;) :)

LOL, I did something like that to my ex-sil. I used to take care of her son on a daily basis. He played with playdo and trashed my house with it, many times. She didn't care.
So, I bought him some playdo for Christmas so he can play with it at home. :teeth:
After that she didn't mind that I made him clean up his messes.
