This thread had me thinking. What is something you have had for many yrs that is so sentimental you still use?. For me it is a barret (sp) that my mom used to pulled back and clip up my hair with when I was a little kid, I mean real little 4 and up. Wwll to this day I use the same one to clip my hair up in the summer. The cold tne fish is all gone but it is still as beautiful as it was 40 somthing yrs ago. Another think is a mixer from hamilton beach my mom and dad got as a wedding present. (Imaginge, a mixer now $100.00 seems like nothing. They would of been married 66 yrs this yr. The mixer is still going strong. Everytime I use it I think of me as a kid licking the pafdd;es with batter when my mother was baking.Oh brother, I am all teary eyed, I am such a sentimenal fool.

Aurora63, I'm glad you found your ring

We were just talking about this type of thing at work the other day! gmta.

Anyways, I have my mother's jewelry box and even though the drawers are coming apart inside, I can't bear to get rid of it. In it I keep little important items that I don't want to get lost...i.e. insurance cards, important phone numbers etc as I am the only one that goes in there. I still have her silver charm bracelet that I have never worn, but won't get rid of. I have my grandmother's ring that had the birthstones of all of us on it.

My mother's wedding rings (from when she was married to my dad) and my grandmother's wedding rings are in a safe deposit box. When I got married, my mom had a nice diamond ring and I took some diamonds from one of my grandmother's rings and made them into a wedding set for me. I couldn't see spending alot of money for a wedding ring, when I had those diamonds. So, DH got of the hook pretty easy.;)

I am really a sentimental fool and a saver. I have so many things from my parents - some I still use and some I just hold on to. I still use my mom's old cookie press to make Christmas cookies. It's got to be at least 50 years old and is a pain in the neck, but I can see us together using that thing and there is no other cookie press for me! There is nothing like the pain I feel when one of my mom's ceramics, which she was so proud of making, breaks. Then I have to remind myself that she is not the ceramic or any other item that I have from her, and that through the years, the material things will diminish. I also have so many little things from my kids when they were little. My husband says I will need another house for my stuff soon... oh well.

I have a end table that my h's grandmother used to use.

I'm sentimental too. :)
