When you have to do something-- it could be anything from sports, to a performance, to writing, to painting-- what you usually do something to get yourself inspired (like for art or compositions) and pumped up (sports, performance) for it. It could be a song, or just something you do.

Me, I've written stories based on pretty much anything, from other works to something someone says that strikes me. For a performance, it's just me and the cast jumping around to a fast song. :bounce: Music gets me pumped like nothing else, and reading other stories (mostly Shakespeare) inspires me for my own writing.

How about you guys?

im sorry, i really dont understand what you mean by this! could ya specify it a little more? :guilty:

Before a volley game my whole team talks about why they started volleyball and how great it would be to win. We also talk about who we'd like to impress that night.

Music does sometimes, but when I get really inspired by a song, the inspiration is usually wasted.
Movies and books are the most inspiring to me, I think. Actually, after a good movie or sometimes after finishing a great book, I go into 'inspiration overload', where I get REALLY REALLY frustrated and angry at myself 'cause there's so many things I want to draw/write, and I can't do any of it.

Hmm, everytime I listen to some kind of song it brings back memories to things that have happened that have been great or bad in my life. It reminds me when in a movie a character has a flashback and the song fits with the flahsback they're having; that's the same thing for me... ;)

's ok! It might have been a little wordy . . .

Anyway, I'll be cliche here: a team might listen to "We Will Rock You" before a game to get pumped up. An artist might be inspired by a song or a painting, whatever. My question is what does that for you?

And Mara, that happens to me ALL THE TIME.

So clichéed.
Music. Everything on my playlist.

I use nerves as inspiration. Like anything lacrosse related..I get so nervous and anxious. I use that as fuel and power and the first time I lay someone out, etc...I'm ready to go.

Well, I tend to use life experiences when I need inspiration for writing a story. I take what happened, or a person, or a look someone gave, and then transform it into what I WISHED happened or might happen, etc.

Subtle observations often give me inspiration.

As far as getting pumped up...the cliché of everyone else: MUSIC! :band:

I don't usually. But when I do, it usually comes from music.

im a writer so anything can be inspiring.

old stories. folklore. mythology. i could dream up things for hours with that stuff.

words. i am a word geek and i love learning new ones. someone may simply say something and im already thinking.

objects. like an origami crane, a bell, a snowflake, a seashell, a camera, anything.

the way someones hair falls, the smell of something, the sound something makes against something else.

when i show-jump or do any other riding competition i imagine boys watching me. fit ones  :rotfl: but it did work for me and iva

anything else i sit there feeling sick or worried

I do that whenever I practice the piano! My parents are the only other people who can hear me.

Either that or whenever I'm being bold; and trying something new.

music i guess. like high beat stuff. something with lots of energy to it. :) :confused3

it's really weird. i dont need anything to inspire me.

i'm just kind of inspired to always do my best, because if i don't, i pretty much get super mad at myself.

so i guess i inspire myself?
