Are you the type to just straighten up, dust and vacuum and assume it's ok?

Or is everything within sight wiped down with Clorox wipes and Lysol'd on a daily/weekly/hourly basis?

Me...I just straighten up, dust and vacuum. Mop the floors in the kitchen and bathrooms about once a week and I don't Lyson/Clorox anything except my laundry. Gotta have those whites sparkly white ya know! :teeth:

We are a cluttered house family. I try to keep things clean, I wipe down the kitchen twice a day... wipe down the bathroom once a week and vacuum as needed. But it's just the CARP all over the house that makes this place look horrible. I pick up constantly but these kiddoes are too quick for me.

My grandma is a clean o holic, her house is immaculate and she is constantly doing something every minute of the day. And on top of that her CLEANING day is Friday where she spends all day Friday deep cleaning. She thinks my house is disgusting and filthy and I should be ashamed for my childrens sake. BOO HOO on her, she doesn't have 3 little ones afoot 24/7.

From the dust and germ aspect of things my house is immaculate, until you get upstairs. The only rooms upstairs are mine, my sister's (she's 15) and the bathroom that the two of us take care of. We really could care less. There's plenty of clutter around out house though.

Depends on the week... :teeth:

In general I'm ok at keeping things picked up, but our home is obviously lived in. I have a weekly cleaning schedule, so things generally get done weekly unless it's something that needs to be done more often. I will occasionally wipe all the doorknobs with the Lysol wipes if someone is sick, but I am not into sanitizing everything. Right now my kitchen counter is a mess, but 1/2 hour of my time would have it looking fine. I do like having the front of the house (dining room, living room, and a large foyer) looking picked up and clean. If anyone stops in I would at least have the illusion of a picked up, tidy house. :rotfl2:

But the dogs take out their toys and leave them all over, my boys play "foyer football" and shoes get left by the front door. There are 6 people living in our house, along with 6 pets, so "clutter happens".

It annoys me sometimes, but I know that in about 12 years I'll be missing the mess.

I used to enjoy having a cleaning person and knew that everything would be clean at once every week or 2, but couldn't justify the cost with me at home and my kids getting older.

My house is not sanitized on an hourly basis. It's clean enough. The bathrooms are clean, carpets are vacuumed, and dishes are washed and put away. Things are kept picked up, but I'm not a neat-freak or germophobe by any stretch of the imagination.

We're all pretty healthy. We get the normal cold once a year and that's about it.

I have a weekly cleaning lady. By the time her day rolls around again the following week its usually a disaster. I do not sanitize or anything like that. I pick up but it feels like it is never enough with the dog dragging out every stuffed animal we own to the living room and 3 kids and their friends underfoot.

I hate to clean but grew up in a very clean house (my Grandma was a stickler-the kitchen floor washed every day on her knees). So I live in a messy, dirty house (because I hate to clean) and hate every minute of it (because I know better).

Hmm, lets see I have 2 kids, 3 dogs and 2 cats. I have to vacuum every day lol. Sanitized no, clean yes. I do love my Bissel flip it for moping. I went 2 days without vacuuming and told my dsis and dmom I could grow crops on my floors lol.

I just want to clarify that while I *do* like to "sanitize" hotel rooms upon arrival, this cleanliness does NOT extend to my home in any way, shape or form! My house is a perpetual pig-sty with clutter everywhere! The bathrooms need cleaning, there are dishes in the sink, etc. I would LOVE to have a neat, clean house but I am just too lazy and disorganized! I am trying harder, though, so I'm hoping to improve soon!

Yep, I'm the first type- straighten up, dust, vacuum, make sure dishes are put away and counter looks relatively clean....bathrooms tidy, but not hospital grade clean. I mop my floors about every 7-10 days with my hardfloor cleaner. Scrub out the toilets maybe once a week or so. With three young children, my entire house is rarely clean all at the same time.

I'm in a state of clutter, I am ebaying my clutter away and I plan on taking a few days off in January to really clean house, too many toys, too many magazines, too much crap!

I have to say my house is pretty clean, not sanitized clean, but vaccumed, wiped down, ect.. I hate clutter so I try to get rid of things as soon as possible, but, my basement, now that's another story - it's FULL of junk that my dh keeps telling me I have to get rid of... That will be my new years resolution :goodvibes

most of the time pretty clean....right now recovering from a birthday party/slumber party last night......I need to do laundry and clean the kitchen.. :rotfl2:

They call me the neat freak !!! :confused3
I am always cleaning on something we dust twice a week mop daily and never leave dishes in the sink
and sometimes if I think the floors need a little extra I get the old toothbrush out and scrub around the baseboards then mop with ammonia
we have a little dog in the house and sometimes I see her hair on the sofa so I vacuum it alot also

Now why do they call me a neat freak ????? :confused3 :confused3

I need to get rid of the clutter - that's my hardest part. Where and how to organize it all!

My mother has a plaque in her house that says "My house is clean enough to healthy and dirty enough to be happy".

;) ;) Maybe you wouldn't have a problem if you took the fish away from the kiddoes? I mean, they are slippery little suckers, so it is probably hard for the kids to put them away in their proper place. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Straightened up, dusted, and vacuumed. NOT a neat freak. Bathrooms sanitized once a week (bleach wipes or 409). With a cat and a dog, I can't wait to get rid of our carpet (we were planning to do tile and wood floors last year but ended up making an unexpectedly large "donation" to the IRS instead. ). We have the carpets steam-cleaned about 4 times a year, and that's a big help, but I just don't think carpeting can be genuinely clean when you have pets.

Clutter is a big problem for me--I hate it but have a hard time dealing with it. DH and I are both getting much better about it, though--we have given away and thrown away literally a few pick-up loads of stuff over the last year! We have 3 decent-sized storage rooms off the carport, so it's way too easy to store our clutter rather than getting rid of it, but we are doing a pretty good job of getting rid of it lately.

Spotless. :earseek: No! Don't sit in that chair! It is just to look at! :earseek:

I have kids so I have clutter. :)

I just spent 5 hours cleaning my youngest DD's room from top to bottom (even the windows!) and threw away a whole garbage bag full of trash and pulled out 3 big bins full of outgrown clothes and toys that she doesnt play with. Now I need to sort the bins to donate or ebay.

Oldest DD cleaned her own room (well mostly) and I have a garbage bag full of her outgrown stuff (she wears a size smaller then her sister that is 4 years younger so no hand me downs here!) to sort too.

I think that clutter multiplies faster than rabbits - at least at MY house.

Maybe I should call those ladies on the TV show to come clean up my clutter.
