Okay, we've looked at the rack rates for 2006 (we only go at busy times when school's out, so have never found a code for then)..........and it looks like the most economical for us would be the two rooms at Caribbean Beach or the Wilderness Cabin, or the Contemporary. The Wilderness Lodge is a good price, but we just stayed there at Christmas, and we're trying new digs. DH is not even going to consider the Cabin, though I think it'd be fun, especially with the boys.
So, that leaves Caribbean Beach and Contemporary. We simply can't afford the Poly, which is dh's first choice.
We are really leaning toward the Contemporary because of the monorail, easy access to Epcot monorail, easy access to Grand Floridian for DS 2 to go on the pirate cruise (thinking about this for his bday), and easy walk to MK. At Caribbean Beach, we'd have to bus everywhere, but we'd have more space.........however, we've stayed together in one room up until now, so not sure more space is necessary.
Anyway, I'm looking for opinions, and people experienced with Contemporary.......to give me the inside scoops on things I haven't yet found on the boards. I did search for Contemporary on here, but I didn't get much more info than I already had.
Oh! And we have to stay in the cheapest rooms, to afford it at all.
Thanks!

We also only go during the summer, when school is out. We usually go at the end of June, first of July. The Deluxe Value season for 2006 runs from July 5th-Oct 4. If you could put off your vacation until then, you get a discount off the regular season rate (however , it's much more crowded after the 4th of July). We got a AAA discount off the Contempory rack rate for next June. It was about $50 off the rack rate. We've stayed at CR, GF and WL. I find that the CR is the MOST convenient of the three. We haven't tried the Poly, yet, though I'm sure that's just as convenient. The rooms at the GF are a bit bigger, but, for some reason, I just like the CR ;) . Maybe because, as a child, my family always stayed there. We have always stayed in the Tower rooms, but I think the wing rooms are just as big. We like the queen size beds at the deluxes, too, and, with the added daybed, they can also accomodate my family of five. According to these boards, the rooms should all be new and renovated by then, so it should be a whole new experience.. :goodvibes .I booked it under AAA discount, with the high hopes that maybe a general discount might come up by then. :confused3 .

Have you looked into a teacher discount at the Swan or Dolphin? I don't know if they'll have your dates dicounted, but I got a rate of $99. for Sept 1-Oct 2!

You should really look into staying at the cabins. I've stayed at the Poly 3 times and the CR once and no matter what you do, it's still expensive. The cabins have a full kitchen, living room, outside deck with charcoal grill, and plenty of room for a larger size family.Plus they look really cool and give a different spin to a Disney vacation. I'm thinking of booking one in June of 2006 and the price is a lot cheaper than staying at the Poly or CR. I found this website and it gives a lot of information and I'll post it below. Tell your DH to just take a look and think about it, who knows you might love staying there. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

I have never stayed at the CR...but I have at the Caribbean Beach. I have stayed there once last year..and am staying there again in about 5 days. I love that resort alot...it is really beautiful. And, in my opinion, a less expensive version of the Poly just because of the tropical atmosphere. (I absolutely adore the Poly, and hope to be able to stay there some day...) Anyways, being college kids, my D'B/F' and I cannot afford the Poly unless we save for a LONG time. So the Caribbean Beach is a great alternative and also bright and colorful. Kids will love it! I know my two younger sisters (13,7) did. The CR is another one of my faves though!! I have never stayed there..but you better believe you can find me there during my vacation. I love the way that is looks so futuristic and that the monorail passes right through it. It's gorgeous...especially with all the renovations that are taking place on it. It's so convienient to just walk to the monorail. However, it is more expensive than the Caribbean beach...which would be perect for Summer time.

The CR is the cheapest to be on the Monorail, and it is convenient to walk to the Magic Kingdom from the North Garden Wings (where the standard rooms are located and, likely that you may be staying in since the resort is going through remodeling with the South Garden Wings closed). The two beds and day bed make it nice since one of your boys would be able to sleep on the day bed comfortably, and we always fine the bathroom to be nice, large, and easy to move around eachother for a disney bathroom.

Also, if you are looking at the CBR and taking buses (which bus never seemed bad to us, especially when children were young they seemed to love the bus ride) you may want to look into getting a room at POR in Alligator bayou since they have the trundle bed for more bed options, plus our family loved ole man island for a break during the day.

Have fun planning!

What are the usual hours at the parks starting the first week of March.
Anyone else planning a March 5-11 visit to Disney. Will be stay at POFQ.
We have always gone in the fall, this is our first end of winter trip. How about the temp this time of year. ::MickeyMo :hourglass
