It's not trolling, that was on the Inside Edition. What that was, is sensationalizing! Yes, the guy was trespassing and then making himself look like an expert on the breeding habits of Alligators and talking like it would have made a difference if River Country had been torn down, when in reality it would have been exactly the same scenario. (except he would have had no reason to be there) There is no mention made of the hundreds of miles of other waterways around WDW where it's exactly the same thing. This is just blatant playing on the emotions of ignorant people that believe everything that they see on TV.
Even the pictures of the Alligator at Splash Mtn. was treated like they just uncovered this previously kept secret video. Most of us have seen that video over two years ago. Nothing new there, the Alligator was practically a baby and was removed from the ride area. There was no real danger to anyone other then shock factor.
The most disturbing thing is the revelation that those probably wealthy people that could afford the, over the water, bungalows at the Poly, were feeding the Alligators in spite of being told not to do that. It is known that when you do that they associate humans with food and are no longer afraid of them, yet they continue because I guess the rules do not apply to them. Well, a two year old just paid the premium price for their inability to be smart enough or considerate enough to refrain from doing something that they have been asked not to do, because for them it was fun. But, of course, the outcry will be that it is Disney's fault for not being able to control all the nature that the state of Florida has available.
I am really upset about this. Not only did a child lose his life in a freak accident, but, now we have people spreading false information like it is fact in an effort to blame someone for what is just an very unfortunate accident. Oh, and BTW, they also showed the new fences that Disney is now feeling necessary to put up around all the lakes and lagoons. I have a question, if the Alligators that happen to be on land at the time that the fence is built, they will no longer be able to get back into the water where their regular food source is, where do you suppose they will end up? Perhaps at your doorstep at your resort or on Main Street USA? Someone should be thinking about that.
