We are going to WDW in mid May this year. Does anyone know, should we take insect repellant? Last year we went in March so it wasn't an issue.

If any in your party is a "mosquito magnet", yes.

We have been there in March, May, June, July and August and have never had a problem. In fact I have never seen a bug! We live in New Jersey and have lots of skeeters in the summer and I usually get eaten alive! I do still bring some just in case, but then again I bring my whole medicine cabinet! Better safe than sorry :wave2:

I usually attract bugs like crazy, but I have been in WDW in May and September and the only bugs I saw were those Florida double bugs ( ) and the ones in It's Tough to be a Bug!!!! It is GREAT!!!

Boy, you all must be very lucky, you haven't had the priviledge of seeing any of the palmetto bugs on the BW or the tons of mosquitos at the FW campground area?? Lucky, lucky!! :teeth: (or maybe they just like Floridians LOL! :rotfl2: )

If we FINALLY start to get some rain by May you'll really need it! Also, if you're near the lakes, on and off the boats, etc, this is where the mosquitos will be hanging out.

I always bring my Avon buguard lotion regardless. It is a bug repellant and sunscreen, very convenient. And, now that we are getting into warmer days and more humid mornings the mosquitos are waking up. If you're prone to the itchy bugs biting (and then swell up from them like we do), I recommend bringing along some buguard. It's nice because it has no bug spray odor and it has the sunscreen which you'll DEFINITELY need now and especially in May.

Well, we went in May, stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins, brought along bug spray and it sat on top of the refrigerator the entire time we were there. If you are concerned, take something small but you probably won't have to dose yourself with it every day. My husband says that Disney wouldn't let a mosquito onsite. And he is a mosquito magnet.

And I *loved* the Florida Double Bug comment. That was classic!!!!!!

Cutter advanced comes in 'wipe' form - either in a dispenser or in individually packaged wipes. I always carry a few wipes in my bag (if you can only find the dispenser, just put a few in a small zip-lock bag).
Last October we all got bitten back by Pecos Bill's waiting for the parade to start - we were glad to have the wipes! We make a lot of trips to WDW and have only had a few incidences of mosquitoes over the years and our motto is . . .
Better safe than sorry !! We lost my DBr 2 years ago to West Nile virus here in NJ. It is not as rare as we thought and such a dreadful, vicious disease in many cases that we try to do all we can to educate others to do what they can to keep from getting bitten - that is the only way you can contract WNV! An ounce of prevention ! - pack those wipes!
