Innoventions?

Planning a May 2018 trip, haven't been in four years... so what is still at Innoventions now? Sum of All Thrills gone? My son always complains we don't allocate enough time to spend there so on one of our "sleep in-pool days" he and DH plan to go into Epcot for a couple of hours just to do interactives (Space Lab after MS, stuff in Spaceship Earth...) So curious what is left or new at Innoventions. Thanks.

It's sad that they've let this go downhill. I know Epcot is getting some improvements over the next few years but I don't recall if there was anything mentioned about the Innoventions space. I think there was even some discussion that it might go away to make room for something entirely different.

I believe all that is left in Innoventions East is Colortopia and SpectacuLab. I haven't experienced either of them. The West building is no long er used for Innoventions.

This is correct! We did them both in December as DS10 loved all of the old Innoventions exhibits as well. They are both very well done. In Colortopia, you start with an introduction to color (narrated by Ty Burrell I believe) and then play a game to try to mix the appropriate amounts of color to make certain shades. You then go into a separate room with "magical" paint brushes and paint an interactive mural.

Spectaculab is an interactive science experiment show with one "intern" and two scientists. They did about 4 experiments during the show and brought children up to volunteer for each experiment.

Yikes, I was hoping there was more than what was listed on the web link above.

Yeah, well, hopefully with the building of these two attractions it's a sign they will eventually build more? It won't take them longer than 40 - 45 minutes to do both attractions.

When I last went to Epcot I peeked in Innoventions West to check out the Baymax and Joy/Sadness Meet and Greets. I didn't even venture into the other one since I heard there was nothing there.

Sad, as I remember it as Communicore fondly as a kid, but the exits to a lot of the rides still have some fun learning activities, though those are become dated.

Yes well maybe they can head to Spaceship Earth or MS to do some stuff there as well before joining us at the pool. I am under strict orders to plan a "less commando" trip than we usually take so I have two sleep in/pool days planned ( 5 day trip) where we will be headed into parks at 3pm-close instead of rope drops (and we have hoppers). So that gives a bit of flexibility for hitting up parks to do call backs or low key browsing activities if anyone wants to. My "kids" are early 20's and seen it all in terms of main attractions. This will be a different but hopefully just as fun trip.

IIRC, the renderings for the anticipated changes to Future World revealed last year at D23 showed both pavilions removed. Perhaps moved to a new location, but the current state of Innoventions doesn't bode well for that to happen. I walked through the East Pavilion in December - interesting exhibits, but overall the space was depressing and had that "dead mall" feel to it.
