Infrared remote control vehicles from Disney Store

Just a warning...we bought two of these for our sons a few weeks ago. I wanted to wrap them and decided to remove some of the wire anti-theft ties to make opening the gift easier and I realized the batteries are rechargeable and need to be charged for 8 hrs. So I charged the batteries and the darn things don't work very well. They will frustrate the kids so I am returning the cars and will need to fill in with something else. If you bought one of these you may want to charge the batteries and install them to make sure the car works!

My dd just got one for her bday and it doesnt work either. I thought I was doing something wrong. Did you change the batteries in the car or the remote? Can you change them for the car??

The car takes the rechargeable batteries and we charged them for the recommeded 8 hours. The controller takes 2 AA batteries. They included really cheap ones (so you could try it out in the store and see it light up) so we installed fresh ones and that still didn't help. Still don't know why the darn thing won't work...we followed all the instructions!
