I saw some where a while back you can attach something to your child's shoe with their information in case they get lost.
Anyone have any idea where I could get something like this.

We used these on our Aug 06 trip and they were great because they could go on the strap of their sandals or they could wear them on their ankle/wrist. My DD7 and DD4 never complained about them at all, just made sure they were on every day. Well worth it, I should try to remember I have them and use them places at home too! Good luck!

We have had our emergency cell phone number tatooed at their hairline at the base of the neck.

I don't like that.

Brings to mind George Orwell's "1984" or Nazi concentration camps.

Poor guy would have to sport a mullet to cover it up and reduce the embarassment.

Also Orwellian is the idea of injecting a microchip. I also don't like the idea of having a permanent hard lump under my skin somewhere. But one useful anti-kidnapping invention could come about and Disney would be a likely place for such an invention to debut. Parents and children (with embedded microchips) would register at Guest Relations and the result is that if the child exits without the parent accompanying him, sensors at the turnstiles pick up that fact and alarm bells sound off. The same idea, not quite as foolproof, would work with the microchips embedded in shoes or clotihing.

Also OT: Children need to learn to wear wristbands without complaining. Otherwise you get a meltdown and the child tears off the wristband and loses extra magic hours privileges.

You can also use the pet tag machines at local stores and simply tie them into your child's shoelace. our local Walmart has Pluto ones!!!!!

I really hope you were joking.:scared1: What would happen if your cell phone number would ever change?:sad2:

I seriously just use a Sharpie marker and write the cell phone number on the arm. It disappears in a few days (I have to do it a few times during the trip), doesn't get lost (we've lost tags) and is easy to replace "on the fly" (you can ask a CM in a shop for a pen and just reink - it might not be a Sharpie, but a ball point will get most kids through the day). Plus its practically free.

I was, of course, joking.

Whew!! I was about to respond with a sarcastic "thank goodness they've made advances in laser surgery for when your number changes", :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: but I didn't want to in case you were serious!! Whew!! (Is there an "extremely relieved" smilie?? ;))

I bought different colored tags for my dd for our trip. It has her name and our cell #s. She will wear it as a necklace or on her charm bracelet.

I also made them for our keys since someone seems to lose them all the time :rolleyes1 It also makes the keys easier to identify in the house with 5 of us who use them.

Forgive me I was in a Pixieish mood.

This site is great: http://www.mypreciouskid.com/id-bracelet.html. I've liked the disposable travel wristbands (Item # 5100) since they CAN'T remove it on their own. I've also used the ID shoe tag (Item # 4700). :goodvibes
Man,I am so glad i came across this post. I was worried about what to do if my child got separated from us. Is child adduction a real bad issue at WDW? I will definitely be getting several of these wristbands. Are there any other tips that will be helpful in relieving my apprehension?

AuntSusu... just one other thing I came across on another thread. Someone posted the following as something they got for their very independent toddler and loved: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4532497 - a little backpack/harness with a tail/dare-I-say-leash. Now, before having kids, I thought these harnesses were awful - I have to admit. Now that I have a 2yo who could outrun just about any adult I know, I'm considering it!! :rotfl2:

The link above seems like the item might be a bit warm to wear. I did a bit of searching and found this one other backpack/harness:http://www.the-baby-boutique.com/tottether.html.

I have some sort of mental block to get over about a harness, and I think I might end up buying one of these. :confused3 Thought I'd add it.

As far as abductions at WDW, others may post with some info - I really don't know that it's any more common there than anywhere else. I am more worried about my son getting separated from us, especially in big crowds like after parades or fireworks. I'd rather avoid that experience for him, even if all goes "well" and we just have to pick him up at City Hall at MK. I am DEFINITELY a better safe than sorry kind of person! :) Have a great trip!! :yay:
