The rules for this swap will be completely different than any other swap we have had before.
Please read through them all. It is important that they all be met. If you don’t think you will be able to follow them, please don’t sign up.

-You are allowed to rotate the sketch/map in any direction you want.
-Please try to stay as true to the sketch/map as possible.
-Please use a layer of cardstock as your base. You may completely cover it with thinner paper. It is very difficult to sort them when they bend and sometimes the embellishments get caught.
-Please use quality paper on your layouts. I will not limit you “name” brands, but please use good judgment.
-You are not required to double mat your elements or have to embellish the elements one/two way. That is why I would prefer the better quality paper.
-You may use “cheap” paper for the photo placements. The photos will be covering that spot.
-You can add a mat layer to the photo placements if you like. That is the only alteration to the layout that should be done.
-You may use any kind of embellishment you like on these sketches where they are indicated or in place of a “layer” of paper. Ribbon and fiber are good substitutions for paper layers.
-You may use different embellishments on each of your layouts. Please ensure they are of the same quality.

General information –
Sign ups will be January 14 with a due date of March 25th. That gives 10 weeks for complete pages.
Each group will have four swappers.
You are free to use any color combination you like.
Please use generic non gender specific titles – Smile, Happy, Giggle, Sunny Day, Splash, PlayTime, etc.
Momma’s Boy, Good Girl, Little Princess/Prince, 4th of July, Mother’s Day are too specific.
You will not have to tell me your title selection. It will be the surprise element along with the colors.
Please do not sign up for more than you can handle. But these should be easier than other page swaps as the placement is already decided for you.

This has places for 3 photos, a journaling spot [you can use a journaling box element or lined pretty paper or those special made pieces from CM or Stampin'Up stamp], at least 3 layers of paper and some embellishments in a vertical format.
I know I am missing information, please ask me questions.

I'm in... When are you opening this up? When is it due?

This looks fun! Yes, when are the sign up and due dates...I don't want to overload on the MK swap.

Question: I get the generic title. What about generic paper? No Halloween themed paper right?

And, what about feminine/masculine -- is that a problem? I can make that page in pink and flowers with the title "Perfect Day" or I can make it very masculine shades?

Am I right that you can cover the cardstock completely but don't have to? Don't suck me in though as I'm not allowed page swaps on my ban:rolleyes1

I don't mind flowers - I've used them on boy pages before. My youngest has a thing for bling. :confused3 He loves the sparkley stuff.

I'm guess more like specifics like the halloween paper. You can use plain pumpkins and leaves, but not jack-o-lanterns and witches.

You can use pink flowers or blue birds, just not dolls or trucks.

When you are making your page, think about the pictures you can use on it. Can you put both a boy and a girl photo on the page?

Mazda - yes you can completely cover or just use the cardstock as your background and add layers from there.

The sketches will show patterned paper to help define the layers. You can use solids. Either in the same family or contrasting.

I will try to pick sketches that use the normal 4x6 photo to start with. Some areas may be smaller and you'll need to crop photos. I won't pick any that have 5x7 or larger. I don't want anyone to have to make a special purchase to use their pages.

I will start with 6 different sketches. And will combine groups that are smaller. You may start on your pages as soon as you sign up. You will get your own and 3 different ones if I have to make them all myself. :thumbsup2 I'll probably just swap around with my own if the need arises. And Susan's because I know she will let me. I bet any of you would probably let me. We have such a good group of swappers. :cloud9:

Any way, after my nap this morning I will go find the sketches and post them so you can look at them and decide ahead of time for those who need sign up buddies. :)

You can swap mine around as needed as well Ann if necessary. If you end up with any flakers(not that we want to have to worry about it) and need me to help you figure out how to divide things up I will be happy to- it only takes me a couple of minutes becuase it is a mathmatical thing my brain does.

I'm supposed to be cutting back on swaps this year, but I really like the looks of this one so I'll be on a couple of groups. You can swap my stuff around as you need to as well.

I have updated the original post with the five other page map/sketches that each have a group of 4 swappers.

If you use the quote feature, you can see their url address. You can go to the pagemaps . com and then under jpg archives you can find an example of what someone did with that map. They are under the 2009 column.

I'm going to sit this one out..but I'm gonna swipe the sketches as a challenge to myself!!!

Can't wait to see how this turns out!

I have questions about this sketch. i haven't done any page maps or challenges before, so I need a little clarification.

This has sewing in the top right and bottom left corners -- I don't sew, so I need something there instead?

The solid white and solid black show 2 different solid papers - -so the 12x12 paper and the two different scalloped pieces match in color? THere are 4 different printed papers used.

If I can't make those scalloped pieces, can I use some other designed edge?

Do I actually have to make lines for journalling? Since the lines are there, does that mean I can't use a dark paper there - -I'll need something light?

THanks for your help.

What a new and great idea for a page swap. I told myself once I get this last swap fininshed I was going to work on my own stuff for awhile, but now temptation in my face. Oh what to do:confused3

The scallops and the background do not have to be the same paper. I think she is just showing you how mix solids and prints. But they can be if you want.
Any kind of edging is good - scallop, wave, torn, etc.

I don't sew either. I figured it was wanting us to draw lines there. LOL Which is what I am going to be doing. You can also use the sewing - hand or machine or use ribbon or fiber instead.

It shows light paper for the journaling spot, but you can use dark if you want. You don't have to draw lines, but you do need to show how it meant for journaling. Using lined paper, a journaling box, a journaling card, stamped lines or drawn if you like.

I interpreted it as a solid background, a swiss dot layer, a textured layer that has a circle cut out to show the swiss dot layer underneath by the title and then other patterned/solid paper by the photos.
