Hi, I found this out today and thought I'd pass it on in case people didn't realise.

The additional DDE card for spouses/partners has the same number on it as the primary DDE so it doesn't count as two ie if you had 20 guests you couldn't apply yours and your partners DDE card to get the discount for the party.

After a bit of research I realised that the AP gives some discount at some of the restaurants. We are having a welcome lunch at House of Blues and can get 20% for up to 5 guests (10% after 4pm) but no DDE discount.

It may be common knowledge (sorry if it is) but I haven't seen it mentioned on here before.

thanks - I actually didn't know that and was thinking that we might want to get a second card just for the wedding dinner - now I know!

Just a quick note that the DDE card will allow you to obtain the discount on alcohol as well... if your guests were to drink. There are 3 locations at Downtown Disney that currently allow the DDE card if you change your mind

Wait... so if you have more than 10 people, you can't use the discount at all?

The Disney Dining Experience, it's $60 for annual pass holders, and it can get you a 10% discount on food for parties up to 10 people.

Actually, it's a 20% discount on food and beverages (including alcohol) for up to 10 people! :thumbsup2
If you have more than 10 people, you only get the discount on the first 10 people.

Also, when you use the DDE card now, they automatically add an 18% gratuity, so it's kinda like saving 2% and getting the tip free...

Ohh, how do you get a DDE card? Is that the card you get if you purchase the dining plan?

Thanks for the info.... can you use it on your food for the receptions/dessert parties and if so, do the food minimums have to be met before or after the discount?

you get the dde card , well we got ours at dtd, you ahve to show your annual passes to purchase it

Sorry this is so confusing! :upsidedow

The DDE card = Disney Dining Experience

The DDP = Disney Dining Plan

They are mutually exclusive. The DDE card you can buy at any Guest Relations window by showing your AP or a voucher for an AP (you may have to let the CM know that a voucher is acceptable - some of them are not aware of this). It is a flat 20% off food & beverage. The DDP is a plan that you add to your Disney hotel reservation that gives you credits to use for meals. You can't apply DDE discounts to DDP meals.

Unfortunately, no. You can only use it at regular restaurant meals, not on any element of a DFTW package. However, if you are having an Escape wedding and you book your own reception meal as a regular dining reservation (i.e. not a private event) at a restaurant, you can use the DDE for a discount on 10 people's meals.

Hope I cleared it all up! :thumbsup2

do they automatically add the 18% gratuity even if there are 2 in the party if you use your DDE

Yes. It used to be you had to have, like, 6 people to trigger the automatic gratuity, but now everyone gets it if they use the DDE card - even if you're dining alone. :sad2:

Based on the number of people and where we are eating, we figure we can save about $230 on our wedding lunch and dinner. That isn't taking into account any alcohol, just meals.

Considering it is going to cost us $60 and we will us it during our trip too it is well worth it.
