ok first i want to know why we need the moleskin and second why do i need to wear long socks or is it a special kind of sock i need help when it comes to the feet(maybe shoes) problem. HELP!!!!!! :confused3

Moleskin is used on your feet if you get a blister, which many people can get from all the walking. It is used to cushion the blister so it doesn't break. I never use any special socks, so can't help with that, in fact I don't usually wear socks at all when we are at disney, its usually too hot.

You apply moleskin to any "hot spots" you might get on your feet. I've brought it several times and never had an occasion to use it. Before I started wearing my Crocs" all day, everyday, at WDW, when I started to get a blister I used Bandaid Blister Bandaids. They worked great and stayed on for several days. Since I started wearing my Crock, I haven't need to do anything special.

Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Chances are if you have broken-in comfortable shoes, you won't need moleskin. As far as socks go, wear what is comfortable for you to walk several miles a day. Some wear longer socks in the summer because they get sunburned from the relection of the sun's rays off the cement. It has been noted that there is something in the cement that relects sun worse than regular cement.

I'll second the endorsement for Blister Bandaids - my DH & DD both use this.
But I also suggest the Moleskin - we bought for WDW and my DH only needed some last day but, repacked for Yosemite and he used the rest.

Some tour books suggest wool socks I think because they wick away moisture.
We typically try to switch our footwear midday. (ie. wear our reg cotton sport socks with sneakers in AM then sport sandals in afternoon/evening)
I see no reason to invest in anything new - well broken in sneakers are your best bet.

The BEST thing you can do for your feet, and whole body, is slowly work up to walking at least 3 miles. I insisted on this for Disney and we were all thankful for the "practice". But I did not enforce it as much for our next trip and it was obvious to say the least!

I can endorse Moleskin. I just got back from 4 days at science camp with my 5th grader. On Tuesday, we took a very long killer hike to study the insects in a creek. Somehow, the group leader managed to take us up uphill, both ways! I was wearing my sneakers which are well-broken in but I still developed a "hot spot" under my big toe. A hot spot is what you feel just as a blister is starting to develop but isn't quite there yet. When I got back to the dorm, I took a shower and put a piece of moleskin on my hot spot. We took another hike that night and walked around quite a bit at the beach the next day. My hot spot never developed into a full on-blister, I think because I put on the Moleskin right away. So that's really the best way to use it. Carry it with you and get it on there before the blister has a chance to develop. Your feet will thank you! :)

We always bring the moleskin too. The WORST thing I did once was buy a new pair of tennies. I was literally bleeding after four days!!!! :sad2:

I also used to think that tennis shoes were the way to go, but the last few times it's been all sandals (comfortable walking-types); I think it helps to have the air circulating...

I also agree with the idea of wearing two different pair each day. We usually go back to the hotel at some point and venture out in different shoes for evening. It moves the "hot spots" around.

One more thought (long winded tonight!!)... I find that it's the standing that makes my feet hurt rather than the walking. The more you can fast pass and/or avoid standing around waiting for things, the better.

Have a great time!!!

we would wear sneakers with a good pair of socks and the important thing to do is not run your self down in the parks we took are time and did and seen everything we wanted to do and never got a blister all week . i think there is glass in the cement that is why you should where long socks but if you have a good suntan lotion you should be alright

also we did have bodyglide for our feet we would put it on in the morning and it work all day will not go back without it.
