I wanted to share my info I got from a cm yesterday. We will be at Disney the week of Jan.31-Feb.8. From reading this great board and the threads on the cheerleaders being there, I started to get a little worried. We originally had ressie's for ASMU. So, yesterday, I decided to call ASMU and see if there we going to be cheerleaders in the hotel during the time we were going to be there, the cm at ASMU didn't have the info, so she transfered me to group reservations. The cm at group reservations typed up the week I was going to be there and said "yes the cheerleaders alone have 950 rooms reserved that week in ASMU, and most of the rooms in All star sports" (950 rooms times, maybe 4 girls a room, yikes!) OK, nothing against the cheerleaders, but when it comes to my sleep, especially on vacation, this is a serious matter for us especially with 2 small kids. I then asked the cm if they had any rooms reserved at pop century, and she said no there will be no cheerleaders at pop century. Needless to say I changed hotels! I just wanted to share this bit of info with you find folks here, and say thank you for the heads up on the cheerleaders in the first place! I am so glad we didn't just blindly go down there and have part of our trip ruined because of the noise, ect.

I'm still holding out of some good discount codes so we can switch to AKL anyway! LOL! I just hope this helps someone else, it is definatly worth the call to group reservations to see if they are going to be in large numbers in your hotel or not. I didn't ask about any of the moderates either.

Thanks again everyone for the great tips!

Whew! What a close one!

I love kids, but I think I'd go crazy with that many "peppy" girls around!! :hyper:

Jill,

Thanks for that info. I had reservations for All Star Movies Feb. 2nd to the 9th. I am taking no chances!!!!! (No offense Cheerleaders) I am thinking of switching to Pop Century like you, or up to a Mod. like CBR or POR.

Thanks again

Even without the Cheerleaders at Music, I think you'll enjoy Pop Century a lot better than Music. :)

I just wanted to tell Tyler that the more you talk about Pop Century, the more excited I get!! We are going to stay there on our first night in Orlando. We usually stay off site but because of the wonderful things Tyler has posted, I changed my ressies. We will finish the rest of our stay over at the WL. I am planning a "mom and daughters" trip for later next year and am leaning towards staying at Pop Century. If it's as good as Tyler is saying, I know tha't where we'll go!! I just can't wait!! Feburary is sooo long to have to wait to get back to Disney!!!

THANKS AGAIN TYLER FOR ALL THE INFO!!!

See ya at Pop Century!!

You've made a wise decision. I have had this experience back in 1999 and never forgot it. That was one long crazy weekend with all the kids that were at the AS. I haven't been back since and don't plan on going there again. However, I do one day envision staying at the PoP. Have a great vacation at a brand new resort.

Dh and I are planning a quick get away that weekend (jan31-Feb 2). My gut tells me to go with CSR, but since we won't be using the hotel much, we might try PC. My strategy is to wait until the discounts come out for FL residents. Then I will call and reserve a room. By then, they will know where the cheerleaders will be.

BTW, My DH was watching ESPN the other day. It showed cheerleaders PRATICING on the lawn at ASSp. They said it was 1am- if you don't know it by now, I don't think a 1am practice is going to make a difference-best get sleep!

I saw that too. It was on MTV, a group of cheerleaders practicing at all star sports at 1:00 AM! That is what really fueled my fire to try to find out if any of this would possibly be going on where we were staying. And I'm glad I did!

My girls are way more excited to stay at PC anyway, so things will work out better both ways. We are in the 60's building, which on the map looks like a great building to be in, and the theme's my girls would enjoy the most.

See you other PC folks there!

Jill

Thank You for the head up. (Again, nothing against cheerleaders)
What exact dates are they going to be there? I am going to be there Jan. 25 - Jan. 31, but we will be at the GF. Last year we ran into cheerleaders at the parks and it was kinda frustrating. Nothing against them, but they would walk 6 or 7 wide and not move for ANYONE. We had to listen to a bunch of cheering, which was cute the first 2 or 3 times but got real old. My favorite was 1 girl would run ahead and get in line, we would happen to get in line and then boom 15+ girls jump in line in front of us because "Suzie" got there first. Maybe when they get older and have families they will realize that those actions can be very annoying. I admire their peppy, youthful, full of life attitudes, but I am looking to get away from that and would love to know when they are going to be there. I hope they have fun and all do well, but I would like some quiet time.
Thanks again. I am by NO means against cheerleaders, but face it things like this DO happen.

Somewhere out there, there must be teen aged boys saying "We just HAVE to stay at ASMU!"

Although most of the cheerleaders weren't THAT bad it did get old really quick really fast last February when one or two of them were obnoxious. Does anyone know the exact dates the cheerleaders, dance teams will be there?:yo-yo:

We were on our honeymoon last year at the port orleans 12/14 for about 5 days and it was herrendous!! I love kids, but it was absolutely ridiculous! First off the food court is supposed to have "fast" food, but not with the cheerleaders there, the lines were outrageous. Then try and find a seat to eat! Then when you get a seat you feel like your in a zoo. Kids running everywhere even doing cheers! If this wasn't bad enough the bus situation was even worse!! There was always long lines and every bus was packed to the brim with people standing. The kids were literally out of control, having only 2 supervisors for like 20 kids. They were so rude! One particular night it rained and instead of standing in line in the ropes they were under the awning. Everyone was getting soaked! When the bus came they insisted on getting on first. I cut a bunch of them and they starting mouthing off on the bus. I loudly yelled to my husband "Do you believe these kids they are so rude and unbelievable, we got soaken wet because they stood under the awning and they think they have the right to get on the bus first!!" Well let's say that they didn't mouth off anymore after that! Maybe it's b/c I'm from NY, but noone talks crap about me and get's away with it.

We were planning a "quick' weekend to PC the week of Feb. 20, but now I'm rethinking. How many weeks will they be there? Then after that, there's Spring Break...which is worse?
