Info for Coral Reef and Cape My please

The Coral Reef would be a nice romantic restaurant except that last week the noise level was very high between 6 and 7 because it was full of small kids all talking at the same time. The view from the ride side is much better and quieter. I recommend the Captain's Grille over Cape May which is a buffet. You get what you pay for.

I was at WDW for eight nights and highly recommend the Dining Plan which must be ordered at least several days before you check in and applies to all in your party. Our plan had one sit down table service, one quick or counter service, and one snack. My wife and I split one counter service for breakfast in the Beach Club. You get two drinks (large coffee plus large juice) and one breakfast sandwich. Then for lunch in a park you get one drink, entree, and one desert. Later you go to the Captain's Grille and both have a drink, entree, and desert. Believe me you won't starve or lose weight. The portions are huge. We used the snacks at the food and wine festival because of they trade for $4, 5, 6, or 7 items instead of a $2.50 coke or $3 ice cream. Watch out thought, it takes reservations ahead of time to eat where you want at night, and every time you skip a meal you have to make it up later or lose it.

Boma buffet at animal kingdom lodge was excellent and service was great.
The Polynesian Luau show was fantastic for about $50 per person. Tax and tip were included if you used 2 of your table services from the meal plan. Again family style service of chicken and ribs and included wine and beer. As much as you want.

We ate at both about 2 weeks ago. Cape May for dinner was fairly good, I ate about 3 plates of crab legs, which were awesome! Tons of them, and steaming hot. Tons of other choices also. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, considering it was buffet food. The tomato bisque soup was amazing also. Kids were entertained by playing with the crab claws too!

Coral Reef we ate at for lunch. This was our second time eating there, and although it's still good, I think it's gone downhill a little from our last visit in 2006. I got the steak, which was really good. DH got the mahi mahi, which he liked, and paid OOP for the lobster bisque, which has really changed since last time. It was thinner and had more of a fishy taste? Not worth it. Last time, we savored every spoonful. Not so this time. Desserts were ok. As the previous poster said, it was loud in there.

We were on the DDP so prices weren't really a concern.

Hope this helps!

We went there about 2 weeks ago for Dinner and had a greart time. Like okwjim, we also experienced a fairly high noise level at this resturant. Ours didn't seem to be coming from a hoard of kids though, just the design of the restuant amplifies the noise level I think. I'd agree with the 7 rating for noise as the only place we were at that was louder was T-rex duing our trip. We did like the layout and thought it was a nice place to dine.

I'm going to do a full review with pics later, but in sum for you I had the fish special called "wreckfish". It was phenominal. The kids food seemed ok and the wife liked her NY steak. Serice was ok, not suberb but not agonizing either. We ordered a drink called "Octopus Juice" which was A Pina Colada Fusion with Chambord - that was very good.

We were on the dining plan so we did not really "pay" outright. Here is a link to allears menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_cr.htm

Hi I have just visited the Coral Reef a few wks ago
When I went 2yrs ago I enjoyed my meal but the service was very disapointing so much so that we refused to pay the 18% tip( there was 8 of us spread among 3 tables terrible start) and we ad booked a few months before hand we constantly had to ask for refills he had no interest as he knew that with the tables of 6 he would be owed the tip we talked to the manager and left him whet we thought he deserved which was around 5%
When I was booking our ADR for this trip I really wanted to try the place again as the food was pretty ok, Well the day that we had booked our boys who are twins 5 and oldest 8 was too tired to stand let alone eat:rotfl2: so my mum told us to go and enjoy and she took them to bed!
We arrived 10 mins before our ADR for 7pm It was 2 days before our anniversary and my husband new I would have loved a tank view, he kindly asked the greeter if we could wait for a table and mentioned it was our anniversary, the greeter explained it could be a hour wait and we agreed to wait for the tank table, with in 10 minutes we had our table and the AMAZING view of the turtle they house,
Now for the meal it was fantastic!! I had the steak and it was cooked wonderful the veg which was asperagus was crunchy and the glaze was very nice , the dessert was also very very good it was the creme bruleewith the chocolate wave and hubby had the chocolate dessert cup ( sorry not sure what the name was) Our server this time was perfect could not have been better and the cocktails was great
We did have a few children wanting to lok at the tank closely and the table next to us was inviting kids all the time so they did keep having to pass us aswell, Now i have boys of my own so i didnt mind to much after all its Disney but that could get slightly annoying
sorry for long post butim still on a high from my trip :)

Do you like seafood? If so, then Cape May is the place for you. The crab legs are full and fresh and along with the obligatory shrimp there are steamed clams, fish , calimari (sometimes),and mussels . A seafood lovers delight. For the landlubbers there are choices of Chicken, pork loin and beef roast along with vegetables and salads.

DD8 calls a trip to Cape May "living the dream!".

And then there are the desserts which are very good. I will pass on the pomegranate tea next time though................
