We are traveling down to WDW in two days for a vacation with the extended family, and one day we will be at Typhoon Lagoon. We have rented a beachcomber shack, and the grandparents plan on spending most of the time in the shade with the kiddo, but I was wondering if there would be anything that Everett could do at the waterpark. Would he be allowed in the lazy river? I understand that the wave pool is really rough, but are there times of the day when there are no waves? Is the kiddie area over-run with big kids, or would it be a good place for a 7 month old who loves to sit in the water and splash? Are babies required to wear life vests?

Everett loves being in the water, he's be participating in infant swim lessons for the past month, so it would be great if he could have some chance to splash around, but if not, I'm sure the grandparents will have a great time entertaining him. ;)

You can bring an "infant tube" for him. This looks like a normal ring tube, but has a solid (soft) bottom with two cutouts for legs. This will allow him to sit in the tupe somewhat upright, with his legs and feet dangling in the water. This may be used only in the lazy river. It is the only floatation device that is not actually attached to a person which may be used.

When our kids were that little we kept them in vests and took them on the lazy river and into the wave pool, too. We did the river with them riding on a lap in a life vest, and coordinated matters so that another family member was there to lift them on and off their float-host for safety, because it's next to impossible to get into or out of a tube while safely holding a baby.

If you take him into the wave pool be careful when they start the big waves, if your sitting in the shallow area, it can drag you across the bottom and it's kinda rough.

It really depends on how comfortable your child is in water. Last summer, our 6 month old LOVED the lazy river and wave pool. He was too small to really enjoy the kiddie area, but was perfectly happy being in the lazy river and wave pool.
