If DH and I decide to fly to Orlando in September - we would probably fly out of Charlotte, NC. What airline would you recommend? We would want to do Magical Express when we land in Orlando.
Any tips for getting less expensive flights? We leave on Sunday (9/24) and return on Sunday (10/1).

USAirways is probably the only choice you will have for non-stops. You could connect in Atlanta on Delta to save money but if you are not an experienced traveler, I would recommend going with the non-stop.

I just checked the prices and with Delta we could save a fair amount of money. Of course, we would have to switch planes in Atlanta. I have done that twice by myself, but it was back in the mid-90's.

Is it alot worse now than then. I don't remember it being that bad back then and I was by myself.

I'd also be interested to know if anyone thinks Delta is better or worse than US Air.
I want DH's first flying experience to be decent.

You can get CLT-MCO on a bunch of carriers for a base fare of $98 during the first two weeks of september.

rparm family - where do look for flights - expedia?? or the actual airlines website?

I usually use Orbitz to shop for flights but then use the airlines website to book. For your dates, it's showing a low of $202 with Delta (through Atlanta), $271 with USAir (non-stop).

If you don't have a concern about the extra time and hassle with the connection, then go for the cheaper price. Connections make me nervous, you have to worry that your first flight is ontime so that you can make the next flight. In Atlanta, you may have to travel between concourses, which means a long walk or catching the train.

:goodvibes I travel out of Charlotte all the time, and have tried most of the airlines that fly out of there. USAir is my preferred, just cause I can fly them non-stop, and I really enjoy that. A connection can be a pain, but its not that difficult...how long between the 2 flights? I have had problems with Delta in the past, so I personally try not to fly them--but honestly, when price is a big issue, you do what you have to do!! Good luck, and let me know if you have any other Charlotte questions!! :goodvibes

If Raleigh is doable, you can usually get great fares because Southwest is there. May be too far for you to drive but just a thought.
