Has anyone found any good deals on rain ponchos to take on a trip? Since it might be a little cooler when we're there, we thought it might be a good idea to have them on water rides so we won't get too wet. I need 2 adults and a kid, but I don't really want to spend $10-15 a piece at the parks!

Thanks!

Dollar Tree sells them in a two pack for a buck.

I wanted something a little sturdier so I bought the ones at Walmart/Target for about 5 bucks each.

I always buy the ones at the Dollar store. We usually offer them to people waiting for the rides after we're done. Otherwise I don't mind throwing them away when I've only spent .50 each on them. I don't like carrying around wet ponchos.

If you don't mind the look, you can just use plastic garbage bags and dump them in the trash when you get off the ride. Just cut holes for head and arms. You can binder clip the neck tight to keep drenching water (thinking Kali Rapids here) out.

We always hit Dollar tree and buy a few more than we need. They are great for rainy days, wet rides, or even wrapping up still-wet swimsuits for the ride home

I bought some at Target in the Colemans camping section. They have different colors for $1.29 each. We used for Kahli Rapids and Splash Mountain.

I always pick up 3-4 packs at the Dollar Store. Great to use for wet swim wear; wrapping up stroller and then toss if torn or dirty and never feel like we need to keep track of them. I know not environmentally friendly to put plastic in the garbage, but since we only do this one or twice year cannot justify buying the more expensive rain gear.

Now that's frugal! :rotfl:

I think the Disney ones are only 8.00 each, not 10 or 15. I just bought five last month. We took the cheap Dollar tree ones, but once we were there and it rained pretty good the first day, we bought the others. After I bought them, we had a rain free vacation! :rotfl2:

Hey, they certainly kept you dry:rotfl2: I bought the cheapies and keep one in my backpack just in case, but the Disney rain poncho I bought back in 2002 is still working great! It's the old style bright yellow with Mickey on the back. I always get asked where I bought it:rotfl:. When the weather reports says rain and rain with more rain, I depend on my Mickey poncho!

The 2 for $1 ones from Dollar Tree used to be great, but we noticed Dec 2008 that they reduced the size of them by about 1/3, I'd say in width with no overlap at the shoulders. Think sort of almost tank top style and cut narrow to even a medium sized adult. They may work for a small child, but even my 80 pound 10 year old son thought they were too small!

We've since upgraded to the $.88 ones from Wal-Mart and they're a much better size and are how the Dollar Tree ones used to be.

I don't know if Academy Sports & Outdoors stores are national, but I found the moderate to heavy-weight ones comparable to Disney's for $2.29 which I thought was a great price! Lots of colors to choose from, and we chose clear so our coordinated shirts will still show through!

So, for our upcoming Thanksgiving trip, we'll have the Wal-Mart $.88 ones for days where only light or short time period of rain is expected and will also use these for water rides. If an all-day rain is expected, we'll take the Academy ones.

We'll now keep the Dollar Tree ones only for summer trips when we're wearing shorts and tank-tops! We had a good laugh the first time my brother (adult about 5'8" and probably 200 lbs) put on one from the Dollar Tree and looked like the Incredible Hulk or something busting out of it! He could barely pull it down over his body and it barely went down past his waist.

It's been about 6 months since I bought them at the Dollar Tree, so if they've gone back to their larger size, someone please let me know and I'll go back to purchasing them!

It always amazes me that people think the Disney ponchos are so expensive. We had to buy them on our last trip ( 3 months ago) and they were only $6.50 each...adult or child size.

We had major rain storms and the .88 ones I bought from Walmart were a complete waste of money. And if the Disney ones rip...they replace it for free!!

I have a few. Target and Walmart have the heavier plastic ones for about $4 each. They are reusable and work great.

The cheap .50 ones fall apart VERY quickly. We had some in our bag and there was a huge downpour and we still got quite wet as they started ripping just from walking in the wind!

I found 3 Disney AK ones and 1 Seaworld one for .25 each at a yard sale and snatched them up!!!! We now use those when we go to Disney.

We used the $0.88 ones from walmart last year and hated them, especially with small kids. They drag the ground on the kids unless you tie them up, and they stick to you. Mine was always stuck to my face, covering my mouth ect. I really would have rather been wet than fight it and actually ened up taking mine off and dealing with the rain.We went to Academy and bought reuesable vinyl ones for $2.88 in a snap close pouch. They had a youth size as well which we got for DD. We will see how these work. We will just stuff them back it the bag when it quits raining and dry them at the hotel.

Has anyone found kid ponchos?

If all else fails, they do sell kids size at the parks, right??

i'll have to go check out our local academy and see if they have those ponchos. I'm hoping that since we're going in a drier time that we won't get rained on. Last time we went in july and got stuck in a tropical depression. That was fun. LOL
