indy movie 4 vs legos

we took DS(age 5 & 1/2) to see the 4th Indy movie yesterday. He is a big fan and has several lego sets from the original trilogy. We have been looking at the new sets, and I told him we would pick the one he could get after watching the movie and seeing what adventure he liked best. He already got the little tent/sword one as a gift, was there a tent and sword fight in the movie? I know there was the sword fight while on the moving trucks. The cutter vehicle is ok, but appeared in the movie for about what, 35 secs. The temple/skull one is alittle much for a 5 yr old, so I don't think we'll spend $70-80 on that. Brings me to the river chase set. Was there a river chase? I mean there was a chase to the river, but I didn't see any Russian in a boat, an alligator, snakes or someone trying to drop a net out of a tree. I don't think I fell asleep during the movie, and now wonder if I was in some parallel movie universe. I just thought the other lego sets seem to go along with an actual scene better. Ds loves to recreate them. Not that he can't make up his own action adventures, but just wondering if I missed something....

My 6 yr old son is really into Indy right now too. We saw the movie on opening day and the next day. He also loves legos and has the Lego Star Wars, and Indy video games (very addicting). We have all the Indy sets except the jungle cutter which is on his list. He loves to play with them, and put them together. My plan is to get the radio controlled Lego train and build a layout with the Indy sets, and other items.

As for the river scene....I believe it is when they go from the ants to the river in the duck boats. They go over the waterfalls a few times and then they show the Russians dropping down the side of a cliff to avoid the ants.

I will say the Crystal Skull Kingdom set is incredible. 929 pieces though, most of them small. In the past I have super glued the sets together since dd and ds likes to take them apart and lose the pieces. Problem was if you messed up or it broke. With the CS set, I used hot glue which seems to be holding up fairly well. If I messed up, I could take the hairdryer to it, heat it up and pry it apart. It took me about 8 hrs to put it all together with some battle wounds on my fingertips. Well worth it though. The designers at Lego come up with some really cool things! I'm amazed at all the little things the big sets can do (swiveling staircase, ****y traps, etc).

My DS would love the crystal skull set, but I am avoiding it. We got the snake temple one and it does not stay together at all. I hate to glue it, as he may want to build his own temple when he gets older. I am sure he could make up his own "river chase" adventure, plus eat up someone w/ the ants. I am also avoiding the cutter-mobile as I think after he cut a tree down a few times he would get board w/ it. One of his favorite sets is the motorcycle chase w/ the father, well worth the $10 !! He still wants the boulder set, his ultimate adventure, he asked my mom to buy it for him for his bday (end of Oct). She got it on sale at least a month ago, but I said he has to wait. (mean mom !!, but I hate for him to get everything he wants for no reason.)
