Took a look this morning, the hours for the first two days of our trip are up! However, upon closer examination, I realized that Indy will be down starting on our first day... I was looking forward to that ride, and this is the first I've heard that it was going to be down, so I'm a little disheartened.

So, as a recap, no Splash, no Star Tours, no Indy, no Fantasmic! (I can see why Hydroguy recommends going in high season.) My dad's a big fan of action/sci-fi, so I'm disappointed that both Harrison-Ford-movie rides will be down...

Oh my! We will be there the last week of may :sad2:

I'll have to check on dates, thanks for the heads up.

Regarding Indy, it's listed as only a 2-day refurb, the 17th and 18th. Bummer it will be closed on those days but you should be able to still enjoy it.

I'm hoping that it will come back up during our stay. We're there the 17-20 and it's first refurb day is the 17th. The schedule for the 19th and 20th isn't up yet. Did you see somewhere that says it's only going to be a 2-day refurb and will be back on the 19th?

When I recommend high season it is more for infrequent visitors. Frequent visitors of twice a year or more can navigate off-season much better as an Indy ride down for refurb will likely be running on their next trip. People with mobility issues or extreme discomfort with crowds may be better off in off-season.

What bums me is to see people on a self-proclaimed "once-in-a-lifetime" trip to DLR choose off-season - and then find out too late some of the downsides to off-season. :teacher:

Oh, here we go: http://community.cbs47.tv/blogs/mikeblog/archive/2011/03/21/4454620.aspx - Mice Age says it's only for 2 days! Pushed the panic button a little too quickly! :)
Cool. :cool2:

We are there May 28, leaving June 4th. I am SO hoping we can catch a soft opening of Little Mermaid during that week or on the 3rd at least, as well as ST.

My parents kinda fall into both those categories! I'm planning on buying APs for my immediate family when we go in May (so we're hoping to get in a couple more trips), but my parents are planning on just the one trip (their first in 25 years). However, my mom will be in a wheelchair and they (especially my mom) are crowd-averse! So crowds=bad, but Indy & Star Tours=good...

It's a trade-off that must be made and I still don't regret scheduling them for a 'regular' season trip, as I'm sure that Star Tours and Indy couldn't make up for wall-to-wall crowds and the stress it would cause for them. However, I am very happy to hear that it is just supposed to be a 2-day refurb for Indy and that Fantasmic! will be running the previous weekend (so chances are it will be running on our Friday, too)

We have been 3 times so far. Our first was in the summer and it was a hot mess! Now, we live at WDW so we just don't go brave the crowds because we don't have to. It was so crowded at DL that our first impulse was to leave.. but we had flown accross the country to be there!! :rotfl:

Our next 2 trips were in May ... :cloud9:
The weather was perfect and the parks were empty. It was amazing! The longest line we saw the entire trip was 40 minutes (for Indy). Sure a couple things were closed (Pirates hurt the most) but it was SO worth the trade off. I think you'll be really happy with the choice you made.

Our next trip is in October because I really want to see DL Halloween. I'm hoping I don't regret going at a busier time!!

You sound like my first trip to WDW with my parents when I was about 11. We drove to Kentucky to see family, then drove down to Florida in June. It was hot, crowded and full of mosquitoes! My parents bought 2-day tickets and us kids were wanting to leave after the first day! But then our second day was a Epcot, with much shorter lines and we actually ended up enjoying ourselves some...However, I'm the only one who has been back!

I think we will! Although, my parents did OK in crowds last year when we did Sea World trick-or-treat during Halloween. They were perfectly content to take my advice of "I think we should go here, see this, see that, catch this show, then head over there..." So, part of their problem in dealing with crowds may also have been the stress of being the ones in charge of the decision-making...

Also, the next days schedule is up and Indy is no longer on the refurb list, so it looks like it is only scheduled to be down 2 days! :yay:

Glad to hear you'll get to do Indy.:goodvibes It's still one of my favorites! Even though with all my trips (too many to count) to DLR the only ride that I've ever been on when it's broken is Indy.:confused3 With last week's breakdown the total is now 3! At least this time we didn't have to walk off, the ride was up and running in about 25-30 minutes and they let us ride again without getting off.

With your mom in a wheelchair do you know how to use the wheelchair entrance? We use the same entrance for single rider-love it! Have a great time and hope you get a lot of PP pix taken! Maybe we'll see you there-first trip for your girls, how exciting!

I was assuming that the CMs would help us find the wheelchair entrances to the rides, at least they did at WDW when we had a scooter along. I've heard that there are fewer integrated lines at DL, but that most of the CA lines are mainstream, but I don't know which are which. I'm looking forward to doing the PP and hoping there will be photographers out. I need to look over the threads again and figure out where to get the different special shots (like the one of you protecting your daughter from Darth Vader - I'd love to get one like that of my dad protecting my girls!) We'll be a big group, and will have both a wheelchair and a scooter amongst us, so if we're there at the same time, you might have a hard time missing us!

The best way to get the Darth shot is one of 2 ways:

Ask one of the photographers taking photos at the Jedi Training show if they can schedule a time to take the shot for you. When the show first starts they hang out in back waiting to go take pictures. After the show they will be handing out cards to the families who had kids in the show telling them what show they were in so they can get their photos from the show loaded onto their PP card(s).If the photographer RP is there, he'll do it for you as long as they are allowing it. Seems like we've done it several times around 3 p.m. between shows.

Ask in the PP shop on Main Street if they can set it up for you. If they say that they really aren't doing them, whine and beg a little, it might help!;)
