I'm travelling with my extended family this weekend to Indianapolis to go to the indoor water park. We may also visit the children's museum again. Are there any unique or fun restaurants for young kids in Indy??

Dave and Busters in castleton (a northern part of indy) is a fun place for both children and adults. it has games and food. it is similar to chuckee cheeses. i haven't been there but my children have and had a great time.

Unfortunately there aren't too many kid restaurants in Indy, especially where you're planning to be.

Dave and Busters is cool, but I wouldn't take any kid under the age of 8. There are usually too many people to have little ones around. I'd hit up Chuck E. Cheese if you want to go that route.

You're going to come across the regular gamet (sp?) of chain restaurants anywhere in the state... we're comfortable with the familiar around here.

Hit up the museum and have a great time. They just opened 2 new attractions (Barbie and Bob the Builder), but I would recommend packing a sack lunch! I don't know when it was the last time you were at the CM, but they just opened the new wing which opened up the old main foyer. It's really nice.

Safe travels!

Just thought of something... are your kids over 3? You may want to see if Beef 'n Boards dinner theater has any kid theater shows running while you're in town. It's within a 1/2 mi of the water park.

May I ask what water park? I used to live in Indianapolis, but I know a lot of things have built since and we would love to go back for a weekend to visit and do some fun things.

Besides the zoo and gardens, chilren's museum as well, is there anything else fun to do with kids?

OP, we love Buca di Beppo for a fun family meal. It is Italian and serves large portions family style in a fun atmosphere.

Incredible Pizza, on the south side. It has several themed dining rooms, an indoor go-cart track, indoor bumper cars, duck pin bowling, and arcade games where the kids win tickets (like Chuck E Cheese) and can trade them in for prizes. For food, they have buffet style with lots of choices. You could easily spend a couple of hours there playing...and a few $$$ too. I think they have a website.

The place is like a Chuck E Cheese on steroids.

I am assuming you are going to the Holiday Inn Water Park? We are members to the museum and I agree to definitely spend time there. There is a Red Robin burger joint close by and kids love it because they give them balloons. There is also a Chick Fil A with a play area near there. What days are you going to be here? I have a list of restaurants with Kids Nights on them.

We saw Jungle Book at the Beef and Boards kids matinee which is very close to the waterpark. It was a lot of fun and all the kids LOVED it! It wasn't a meal though, just a snack and juice box. After the show, the actors signed autographs. We had a large group and were seated at the larger tables down near the stage. The actors perform all over the theatre and dining levels, but being on the floor near the stairs meant they got "up close and personal" a lot. Some of them even recognized the kids when we got autographs after the show. Lots of fun!
