I can recommend the Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station. It is only about a 3 block walk to the convention center and the corrals U-Z. It is VERY reasonably priced for a downtown Indy hotel.
I've done the last two mini-marathons and had a blast. I think you need to be prepared for the crowds. The first year it took us 22 minutes to get to the start line and this year it took 45 minutes (we start in V) because some construction caused the street to narrow just before the start line. If you are towards the back of the pack like I am, you probably aren't going to set a PR, but you never know what could happen!
Oh, they have a lot of water/gaterade stations. Many more than the other events I have run.
Do you guys know when this race sold out last year? It appears that it reached capacity at some point. I have my room reserved and want to make sure to sign up for the race before it sells out. I was going to decide in the late fall or early winter but if the race sells out sooner I will just sign up sooner.
Thanks
Halfway there... once Frank mentioned that you have until March to opt out of the hotel, I went ahead and booked a room at the Hilton so that part is done. (Of course, I forgot to request to be near the WISH block, but I figure I can always call them closer to race time and add that part...)
Hey Pat (or anyone else booked at the Hilton),
Embarrassed to say I'm feeling "Hotel Challenged" right now. Are you staying at the Hilton at 120 W. Market or the Hilton at 10 E. Market?
You can add me to the list. I'm now officially registered! It's going to be good karma for this race to. My bib number is 7110. My boyfriend's birthdate (rest his soul) was 7/11.
Terri
You're a great sales person, Pat! Count 2 more of us in for this one. Cathy and I will be there. Registration and hotel reservations have been made. Plans to do the Flying Pig have been moved to another year.
I am looking forward to doing this one. I remember your medal from 2008. It was awesome!
