"We were already excited about the hangar themed restaurant coming to Disney Springs in The Landing, but that excitement has just been taken to new heights…

The bar and restaurant opening Fall 2015 is going to be called “Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar”, named for the pilot friend who comes to Indiana Jones’ rescue in the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The aviation themed lounge located between Paradiso 37 and the Boathouse will feature 150 seats, including a bar area located on a boat that seems to be hanging off the side of the main building. The theme will be expressed through propeller themed ceiling fans, vintage travel posters, and correspondence between Jock and Indy"

The feature dessert is rumored to be "Snake Surprise", which happens to be Bob Iger's likeness painted with frosting on a piece of vanilla cake... :duck:

And I know "Snake Surprise" was actually a spoken line in Temple of Doom .... I don't think Disney would do something like that in a restaurant however.

The "Snake Surprise" comment was my poor attempt at some humor (hense the tomato-throwing smiley face).

Sorry if this caused confusion...

It's also worth noting that there is a motorcycle in the concept art possibly another nod to Indy

Well this isn't supposed to be a full service restaurant but pretty much along the lines of Trader Sams. If it has similar effects this will be a success especially for locals.

I hope it will be :) The Boathouse is OK to me. I'd rather hang out at Raglan Road to be honest.

None here ... I thought it was funny actually.

Could be, I noticed that.

Orlando Sentinel, 05/13/2015:

A bar with an Indiana Jones connection will open this fall at Downtown Disney, the company announced Tuesday.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is under construction on the waterfront between the new Boathouse and the Paradiso 37 restaurants in The Landing section of the entertainment complex, which is being retooled and renamed Disney Springs.
The 150-seat establishment is named for Indiana Jones' pilot and will have an aviation theme. Guests will see vintage travel posters, propeller-like ceiling fans and a diving bell booth.

On the menu will be "Rolling Boulder Meatballs" and "Air Pirates Everything Pretzels" with mustard and beer-cheese fondue. Cocktails will include "Hovito Mojito."
There will be outdoor seating on Jock's steamboat, facing Lake Buena Vista.
Two additional restaurants -- Morimoto Asia and STK steakhouse -- are set to open in The Landing. The entire Disney Springs renovation is expected to be complete in 2016.

I'm just as curious as to who running these restaurants as I am what they are...do we know that they're all 3rd party operators at this point?

Disney is running this one. I think that it looks pretty cool. I love Indiana Jones and this looks like a cool bar. I'm glad that it is larger than Trader Sam's.

I keep hoping that Disney will put more Casual and less expensive Dining options in DTD.

Agree completely

I haven't heard recently, is the trader sams still mobbed?

I think that on the Weekends Trader Sams is still mobbed. We went on a Thursday at 4 and were able to get in. I love it. It's as close I'm going to get to the Adventurers Club back. I just wish they had made the inside slightly bigger. You need a bigger inside due to the storms we get sometimes.

I would think they're gonna have to lock it down to hotel guests if it continues to be this way...

In good taste, it's hard to justify a $600 a night room - or a $30,000 DVC contract - and not be able to use the facilities because its mobbed by monorail travelers and the Kungaloosh Crowd...

They've always been TERRIBLE at this...

Or they could triple the drink prices to thin the herd... :duck::duck:

(This time I used two tomato-throwing smileys to head off any confusion)

:)

I hope not. Poly is just out of my price range so completely. I think they widdle down already by not allowing children in the bar section after 8:00. I haven't heard anything close to the wait that it was when it first opened. If crowds are high at Trader Sams it because guests are desparate for anything new.

And guests resort hop for restaurants anyway and Disney wants them there. I don't see that happening. Anyway

Cool Bar at DTD..

I was at WDW in late April. I went to Trader Sam's 3 times Sunday - Tuesday. It was super awesome. I was actually there for the official grand opening on that Monday. It does stink to have to wait an hour to get in, but if you plan around it then it isn't too bad.

With that said, I really hope that The Hangar is similar to Trader's Sams spirit and I hope that it is well themed to Indiana Jones. I like that they are randomly bringing in Indiana Jones to the parks. I hope that Disney keeps making small lounges like this and Trader Sam's throughout the parks and resorts.
