Indiana Jones ride coming to WDW? SWEET!

Should the ride come to the Walt Disney World Resort?

IIRC, Disney only pays the modest sum of $1 mil per year to license Indiana Jones for the theme parks. (Not sure if that's worldwide, per park, per attraction, etc., but however you slice it it's not much in the grand scheme of things.)

So, I don't see them eliminating the stunt show without some IJ replacement in the works...particularly with the prospect of a new IJ film constantly looming.

The final decision will probably include a number of factors...is the Stunt Show theater footprint big enough for a clone of one of the rides? Do they want to put another show in that location? (Live shows are particularly expensive to operate given the very large number of CMs required.) Is it more economically feasible to use the Stunt Show site or to expand the park elsewhere?

I do think the Stunt Show's days are numbered--at least as it exists today. What we don't know is whether its lifespan can be measured in weeks, months, years or decades. :rotfl2:

The only certainty at this point is that a CM rumor plus a 2-year-old unconfirmed report on a fan website does not mean this thing is any closer to happening.

As others mentioned this has been a long standing rumor that seems to surface about once a year.
I would be surprised mainly because Indy Jones is not that well known any more to a younger generation.
Also, the cost factor.
And finally because we already have the Dinosaur ride in AK. Too similar to Indy.
I agree Indy is a cool ride. But I won't believe it is coming to WDW until a Disney official announces it.

That will be so so SOO Awesome-tastic =]. I'm looking foreward to it. [=

if any form of indy comes to any parks, it will be the raging spirits model. not the landrover ride. adventure land needs something else ride based other than pirates and carpets.

I still say MGM would get a new ride like this before MK.

First, the show has been in Disney MGM Studios since 1989! Up til' now, that's 17 years! I mean, look what happened to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. The ride was fun for the kids and the adults and kids and they ended up replacing it with the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. One of these days the show will go. Personally, I like the show, I'd really like to be one of the audience-picked "extras" for the Marketplace scene, but I'd really like to see an Indiana Jones ride come to Walt Disney World. That way, everyone can participate in the action and everyone can have fun at the same time.

For more on this topic, see my other thread:

Consider This About The Indiana Jones Attractions In Disney Resorts Around The World

Second, they use the same technique everytime with the guy that gets "beaten up" by Karen Allen's (Marion Ravenwood in Raiders) stunt double, the guy is revealed before the show starts when they are picking the "extras," they show the stuntman is always shown in a Hawaiian shirt in every single show.

Mt Toad's was fun for some kids and adults. Not all

I'm not sure I see the relevance. Sure IJ is quite stale for many repeat visitors and will have to go eventually, but it's not like Disney makes these decisions based upon a calendar.

And, if memory serves, MTWR ran for over 25 years. By that comparison, I guess IJ still has a few miles left. ;)

If we're fixing the Studios, can we do something about Sounds Dangerous or even the Backlot Tour first? Even a couple new scenes in the Great Movie Ride would be welcome.

Frankly, I found it dull. 'course the new Pooh thing is no great shakes either.

I would love to see the Indy ride come to WDW...I hear it is fun to sit in the "driver's" seat and pretend to steer! :teeth:

One of the boat captains told my wife and I the same thing when we were taking to boat to MGM. He said the Indy ride would replace the Indy stunt show but that was like 2 years ago. Maybe they are finally getting around to it. Afterall now that they have the Lights Camera Action show at MGM they really don't need the Indy stunt show they need another ride.

I do think the Stunt will go bye-bye. But I'm not sure they would tear down the theatre. I think its more likely a different show would go in there.

I agree. It's probably a little late, but I could see them redoing as a POTC stunt show. Just change the hats...

.......and add water.

Well, it would be cool to have an Indy ride there, I'm a big fan of the movies and the stunt show after seeing it 2 times is pretty boring to me now. But rides...they never get boring!

I just don't see them destroying a perfectly good theatre. If you're telling me they wll use that theatre for say an Alladin show and built the reide somewhere else I could believe it more.

And having just seen the Lights Motor etc stunt show, well, I hope they keep Indy around.

Amen to that. The stunt show sucks! {IMHO]

It was dull wasn't it? Indy is much more entertaining.
Definitely! :thumbsup2
We saw the car show for the first time 2 weeks ago, and man, what a let down!

Isn't Dinosaur basicly Indiana Jones, same ride vechicles and everything, just a different theme.

Would adding an Indy theme really make it all that different, or would you feel like you just rode the same ride?
