I'm a real wuss when it comes to rides. Coasters and any type of big drops terrify me. At WDW, I won't do Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Two years ago I tried tried the Goofy Coaster and vowed never again:lmao: . Even Test Track--which I was told is extremely mild--nearly did me in (although I would probably ride it again).

We're (hopefully--still have to get Dh totally convinced!) taking our first trip to DLR in September. Do you think I should try the Indiana Jones ride, or will it be too intense for me? :confused3 . The main thing I hate about the thrill rides is the drops, so if it doesn't have any of those I might be okay. I also hate even the feeling that there MIGHT be drops:laughing: ---do you feel that way with the Indiana ride?

Thanks!

Kelly

There are no real drops on Indy but there is a lot of shaking and bouncing. Test Track is very smooth for the most part. When the car goes over the bouncy part? That is a lot like Indy. There are several starts and stops. We love it and I hope you will give it a try. It really is so much fun! Have a great trip

Indiana Jones is not that bad at all and there's no drops, just mostly a lot of jerking around that's about it, pretty tame.

No drops at all. stops at occasions but like previous posters have said......alot of shakin'

Try it at least once and let us know what you think about it

There's so much amazingly detailed scenery around you on Indy that you aren't really focused on the ride movement. I would like to reiterate that Indy is very rough and bumpy (yes I know all 3 above posters said it as well, it's that jerky)

Here is warning #5 - it's very rough. Someone recently said it's like a jeep ride on a rough road at 45mph. But the queue is a lot of fun - you can always take the so-called chicken exit before getting on the ride.

ok- am I crazy? it may not be a technical "drop" (I believe the car bucks up in back") but there is something that feels like a drop at one point, is there not?

I am a total chicken too--and I have never been brave enough to go on it. Reading from what people say here, maybe I could hack it? The feeling I hate is that "drop" feeling that makes it feel like you are going to crash. For example, I am brave enough (don't laugh) to go on Pirates, but when the two "drops" come (especially the second one) I am pretty much terrified! I still force myself to go on it because I love the scenary of and songs of that ride. Splash Mountain? No-freakin-way! I hate that water feeling of dropping (somehow being attached to a track like on a rollercoaster is not as bad for me as water drops).

But bumping I can take. The only thing that freaks me out about that ride is that I heard a girl died on it from being jolted around so much (brain bleeding). She was a teenager. Anyone hear about that?

One think I will say is that I am the ultimate scared of heights person--but I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Soarin'. I was dying to go on it for the past few years, but my husband told me it was would be too scary for me on the height issue. I am so glad I faced my fear on that one, because that ride is not designed to scare you--it is a beautiful thrill for the senses and for a scaredy-cat it gives you a taste of freedom that you may never have in your life. Even my middle daughter (who also is scared of big rides and heights) loved Soarin'--so make sure you go for that one.

Take care,
Lisa

It really isn't a "drop" like a roller coaster drop. It just feel like the rest of the ride. It's not steep or faster than the rest of the ride. There's no "stomach feeling" either.

The way the "jeep" goes to get away from the [don't want to give anything away] involves going down a hill suddenly, so it can feel like a drop, yes.

The ride is an adventure. Like you're with Indy and you're going off-road, you're escaping people with blow-darts and spears, you're trying to get away from things coming at you, so the driving is fast, jerky, crazy. And it's not on a level surface, so just like driving in the jungle, there will be ups and downs.

Ride chicken here! :wave2:

I've never gone on Indy or Splash. Splash is upsetting to me because I think I'd really love the rest of the ride (being a big fan of America Sings, I'd love to see those animals again!). But I know I just couldn't handle that drop.

As for Indy, I'm just not sure. Not sure that I'd like a super rough bumpy ride. It's gonna be one of those things I'll decide last minute when I'm there! LOL

However POTC is my FAVORITE ride! The drops on that ride don't bother me, maybe cause I just got used to them (I will ride it multiple times while there). The second drop I actually find smaller then the first. I've actually grown to enjoy those drops, and when someone tries to get me on a new ride I will have them compare it to POTC. Any bigger and I will usually chicken out. LOL

I do agree with the fact that it may feel like a drop, but there is no stomach issue. Imagine you are in a car going down a hill quickly. Unfortunately, it is in the dark so it feels a little uncertain.

I would also mention that if you don't like snakes, creepy-crawly type things or creepy skeletons, then I would reconsider. The queue line is very intricately detailed, but there are a few narrow corridors and enclosed rooms that sometimes have been known to give people an unsettling feelings.

I am not a huge fan of Indy myself, but I always try to make it on the ride at least once to know that I did it. If I didn't I would be kicking myself knowing that I missed out. If you do decide to ride it, try to go when the line is super short (first thing in the AM or get a fast pass). That way, it gives you less time in line to talk yourself out of the ride! :goodvibes

When I was a young child I used to be terrified of Pirates because of the drop, I didn't even go on BTMRR till I was like 10 years old, didn't ride Splash till I was 13, I was so friggin' scared going on Splash my first time because I didn't like drops at all, after I rode it the 1st time I was hooked. I rode it 5 more times that same day. I now worked my way up to the drop of Jurassic Park which is 85 feet, next I'm gonna try Screamin' at DCA which is 110. Just gotta start small then work your way up if you can take it. So my suggestion to you would be to start small then work your way up to Splash, it's really a good ride and the drop isn't that bad, only last 2.5 seconds and it's all over.

It is nothing like a coaster or water flume type drop. Go for it, you will not regret it!

I'm an also a bug wuss when it comes to rides. I usually stick to slow ones like Small World and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Even Jungle Crusie is too scary for me). However, on my last trip to Disneyland my mom convinced me to go on Indiana Jones. I ended up absolutely loving it. There are no big drops, it's just really jerky. I think you should give it a try, it's really fun.

Ride chicken, that's me---don't do Splash or Tower of Terror, but absolutely love Indiana Jones. The first time through it was a little weird just because I didn't know what to expect and I thought it was way too jerky. Now I love it.

I think you are right . . . . I was unprepared for a lot of it (and terrified most of the time thinking I was going to get jerked out of the car despite the seatbelt!) I "may" have to try it again when I am on the Ladies' Only trip (but this time I'm sitting in the middle!) :thumbsup2

I'm going to DL for my first time this year I'm also afraid to try it. But my being a chicken has nothing to do with the fact that there could be drops or that it's jerky. I can do rollercoasters and all the other rides with no problems. My fear though lies in the fact that I'm afraid of the unknown. I was a little terrified before I rode E:E in DW for the first time...but of course, after I rode it I was fine. However, I will not ride Dinosaur. So, that makes me scared a bit to ride this. Any advice on helping this fear?

Dinosaur is just like Indiana Jones. My suggestion to you would be to try on going on youtube.com and viewing a POV of the indiana jones ride to get a feel for what it's like, of course you can't see much because most of the ride takes place in the dark, but honestly it's nothing more then being jerked around and a few fast take offs in the jeep, other then that there's nothing to it.

Indy is my all time favorite ride at DL...so of course I'm going to tell you to ride it. Like everyone else said its pretty bumpy and jerky but not bad at all. Hope you ride it!!
