During our last trip to Disney World, I convinced my family to ride Dinosaur at the Animal Kingdom. Boy, what a horrific mistake that was, they hated it! Too loud and too jerky they said. So....if we go to DL I hear that the Indy ride uses a similar ride vehicle. How does Indy compare overall with Dinosaur?

The ride and vehicles are practically identical. Indy is more visually interesting and less in-your-face obtrusive. I don't care for either, but Indy is more successful at telling it's story. Who ever decided that you had to be jerked around annoyingly in order to have a good time? The Emperor has no clothes, IMHO.

I do not enjoy Dinosaur. Love Indy. Both are bumpy but Indy is worth going to in my book...

As PP have said, the jerkiness of the ride is very similar. However, I feel that Dinosaur is more frightening. It's darker, louder, and OMGADINOSAURISGOINGTOEATME. One thing that surprised me about Indy is there are portions of the ride where you can clearly see other ride vehicles. That takes the scary factor way down for me.

Honestly, the first few times I rode IJA I did not care for it that much because it was jerky. However, I grew to love this ride and it is now my favorite after POTC.

It is a better ride experience than Dinosaur but as others have said it has similar jerky motion.

I love both rides though I prefer Indy over dinosaur. I find Indy to be more jerky than dinosaur and I prefer the theming of Indy more but both rides are super fun

I agree with this post. When you see other ride vehicles, it takes the scariness out of the ride and makes more of a ride. On Dinosaur, there's that nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I could actually be eaten. I'm guessing one of my ancestors had some bad encounters with those dudes.

The other difference is Indy requires 46 inches. So if you have any short stacks in your bunch, they won't be able to ride it as early as Dino.

My whole family hates Dinosaur. My whole family loves Indiana Jones and it is one of our DL favorites. To us, Dinosaur is loud, jerky and dark and just isn't enjoyable. I know that Indy has the same ride vehicles and is supposed to have a similar track, but it just doesn't feel the same. It is still jerky, but it is an adventure with great theming the whole way through, it is dim, but you can see things around you and it is not totally dark for any significant portion of the ride...unlike Dinosaur which feels like just bouncing around in the dark and occasionally seeing a Dinosaur here and there. We don't care if we ever ride Dinosaur again--- if Indy goes down during our DL trip, it is a crisis!

My family prefers Indy. Dinosaur is REALLY dark (unlike when it was Countdown to Extinction when you could actually see the scenery on the ride).

DH is prone to motion sickness and on Indy you can prepare yourself to where the turns are coming and it's much more enjoyable. Nothing horribly scary.
