From Walt Disney World News Today:

Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.

This film needs to be an excellent passing of the torch movie because the last film was so bad. I don't mind Harrison returning but i'm more concerned about Spielberg returning. Another director could come and really breathe new life into the franchise

Too many joke titles....must resist....

At least it can't be worse than the last one. I hope it's up to par with the first three.

Interesting that Steve is onboard...

I wonder if dreamworks will eventually be sold to "some" media conglomerate in the future?

I'd think adding "S" and "K" to the mix wouldn't be a bad move.

And it would kill Michael Eisner once and for all...

I can't get excited about this. Ford just about worked in The Force Awakens in a secondary role, but putting him front and center of an action movie...

They should have recast.

This will not be a DreamWorks coproduction, I'm 99% certain of it.
I think Spielberg has a special place for Indiana Jones, and he's an excellent director.
It was Lucas who insisted there be "aliens" in Crystal Skull.

They should certainly recast for this film but i think it was part of his contract for being in Force Awakens. Have to say though i thought Harrison was awesome in Force Awakens, for someone who hates the role and character, i think he did amazingly. Shows that money talks and everyone has a price.

2 stipulations in his Force Awakens contract. The first one played out in the film. The second one was that they make another Indy movie with him.
They cannot recast. Not for this film.
They will make it work.

Yeah...I got all that.

It's just odd for the owner (former...I believe) of a competitive studio to still work in consort

They didn't make the last one work...

Can't wait, though I do wonder how much Harrison will be able to do. Won't he be almost 80 when they start filming?
