Indiana Dunes

We are planning a day trip to the Indiana Dunes late this summer with 2 other families. All of us have little kids. Looking at the travel guide online, there are several beach areas to pick from. Any recommendations for the most family friendly area?

I haven't been there since high school long ago, but then we always went to the state park for the swimming.

I will recommend an awesome pizza place to eat not far from there. Stop 50 Pizza is in Michiana Shores right near the state border. They have the best wood fired pizza I've eaten. http://www.stop50woodfiredpizzeria.com/

Wow...a blast from my past. My husband was born in Portage, IN and I worked in Michigan City, IN for several years.

I second the state park for swimming. That area of the National Lakeshore does have nice beaches.

We like the Warren Dunes in Michigan much better. It's about 1/2 hour north of the Indiana Dunes.

was going to post the same thing. No offense to the Indiana ones, but yeah, Warren Dunes for sure.
Heres a googled pic that shows the snack/bath house and parking is larger here too. Last time I was there it was $6 a day..not sure now

We prefer to go to Warren Dunes as well, but we just drive there for a day. Don't forget the back drop picture from the Warren Dunes beach, the kids always have a blast climbing to the top.

Lived in lakeside mi for awhile. If you go to warren dunes get there early. At times, especially weekends, it hits capacity and they won't allow entry.
