INCREDIBLES have TRICKS and TREATS in October!

Well, the race is done. I did not PR, which is okay. I forgot to stop my Garmin, but my clock time was 2:28. I am waiting for the official results for my chip time.

I was on pace thru mile 6, even ahead by almost a minute at one point. Then my left foot started to hurt, on the outside, all along my pinky toe. It hurt more when I walked. So I ran slower. Then the arch started to hurt. The arch on my left foot and the base of the big toe on my right have blisters, something I have never experienced before. And I wore the same socks and shoes I always wear, nothing new.

I wish I could have stayed on pace, I would definately have PR'd. But I finished my 3rd half marathon for this year. It is still my second best time yet for the distance.

On top of this, I seem to have picked up a little tummy bug, DH was up during the night with it. So since I came home from the race, I have spent a lot of time in the bathroom . Hoping it feels better soon.

Off to nap now.

ETA: official results are up. Official time 2:28:25.

So sorry about the blisters! I haven't experienced that yet, but I am sure it was painful. I know you wish your time would have been a little better, but it looks AWESOME to me! Congrats on finishing so well, especially in pain! Hope you are feeling better and are out of the bathroom!

I ran 5 miles this morning in exactly one hour. That's my longest distance so far, so I was pleased. I did it slowly, with a run 2 walk 1 interval, but I was very excited to hit 5 miles. I'm working on pace during my shorter runs and doing my long runs slower (following Jeff Galloway's advice). A year ago, I would have laughed if you told me I could run 5 miles!

Thanks friend! The blisters did not pop, but they are sore. My foot felt better yesterday while I rested, but I had to work today and was on my feet all day. So now it is sore again. But then so do most of my parts from the waist down!:rotfl: Quads are very tight and feet just plain hurt, since I am on them all day at work. But taking a week off this week, will get back into walking next week.

Lauren, good job on the 5 miler!! Galloway is a good plan, don't increase both speed and distance at the same time; one at a time and you will see a difference.

Hello INCREDIBLES!

Veronica, good job on the race this week-end! :thumbsup2

Between the Fall WISH BL challenge and a local BL challenge I've been doing there hasn't been much time for the events side of the WISH boards. That ticker for the Princess does keep ticking away! princess:

Will be starting the MFM run/walk training officially the last week of October. Somedays I think I will rock the Princess and somedays I wonder what the heck I was thinking? :confused3 Most days it is a little of each! ;) I have been working out alot so I feel much stronger and am looking forward to my training. I just cannot seem to run on the treadmill so need to work on that -- any pointers?

Hope that everyone is doing well! :flower3:

Quick post to wish mikamah (Kathy) and mommyof2Pirates (Lindsay) good luck in their races this week-end! :cheer2::cheer2:

I signed up for the Princess last night. I made my flight and room reservations this morning, and I also booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I have always wanted to do this tour, but never have during our family trips because it's for ages 16+. My college friend and I are meeting in Orlando, staying at ASSports, and doing the tour together. She's doing the race as well, but she will finish way before me. At least I will have someone waiting for me at the finish line!

We plan to arrive early afternoon Friday and hit the expo. We'll do the tour Sat. morning and then take it easy. Race Sun AM, and then do whatever we feel like doing. We head home on Monday.

I am so excited. Now I have huge motivation to make it!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, especially those who are racing!

Hey everyone!

I feel like a lousy captain, having been MIA it seems. This week has been stressful, post run healing going on, but yet this crazy desire to do another half marathon soon. I have not done any exercise this week and seem to be eating like CRAZY! I am afraid to weigh in monday, think I am going to have gained back the 4 lbs I lost the last 2 weeks. I am going to do a 3 mile run tomorrow, I have the itch, but I am going to take it nice and easy.

I am looking at a race (half) for 1/1/11. The Hangover Half, it is local at our state university. It is a day of race registration only, so no real commitment. But I would like to do 3 half's again next year, that one, maybe one in May or June and then the one I just did in October. I will sprinkle in some 5k and 10k races here and there.

Lisa-as far as the treadmill, I don't know what to tell you. I sucked it up last year and did my short runs (3 milers) on the mill. All my long runs were outside on the weekend. Good thing, since the WDW half was so cold, I was used to it! You will do great at Princess, not to worry.

Lauren-YAY for you on booking your trip!:woohoo: I am definately jealous of all you ladies who are going for marathon weekend in January or Princess in February.

Kathy and Lindsay, let us know how you did on your races today!!

Hello Incredibles!!!

I'm so sorry I've been MIA. I've got no internet at home, and won't till at least the 27th, and am going through dis withdrawal. We're at my sisters today since she's away for the weekend, but only have a few more minutes.

I did my 3rd 5k this morning, and got a new PR, but I don't have the official time yet. I was 42 min and not sure on the seconds but my pr before was 43:30ish. I'm not home, so I don't have it in front of me. I was happy with that. I had some foot pain earlier in the week, and probably didn't push as hard as I would have if that hadn't happened. My foot is better, and the run today didn't seem to aggravate it.

I hope to have more time later this week to catch up with everybody.

Keep on running!! You are all INCREDIBLE!!!!!:cheer2:

I did 5.5 miles on the treadmill this morning (my longest distance so far). It killed me to do it on the treadmill b/c it is beautiful here today, but my kids are out of school, and you have to stay in the building when they are in the youth room. So, I toughed it out. I don't know my exact time b/c the treadmill went into a forced cool-down mode when it got near the one hour mark. I restarted until I finished my distance. I think I was somewhere near 1:05.

I'm looking forward to being back outside on Wednesday. I am thankful to have the treadmill available, but I would MUCH rather do my runs outside!

Hello teamies, sorry I have been MIA. I have been crazy busy this month between training, kids, family and just everything that we moms have to do! Training has been going really well, especially since the weather has been significantly cooler lately. Yay! I have been able to do all of my long runs at around 9:15 min miles which is perfect for my goal pace of 8:49 in November. I run 14 miles this Sunday after 7 on Saturday so it is my first back to back of any real distance so I am nervouse and excited. Jacksonville's Race for the Cure is Saturday so I might run that and then run 4 more a little later instead of 7 continuous. We will see. I signed up for a 10 mile race on Halloween that I am extending to 15 since it has 2 5- mile loops. $25 to haveca supported course is a great deal if you ask me:).
I can't believe I am 4 weeks from the Women's Half! My training has been flying by! Before I know it I will be packing for Disney again! Yikes!
I hope all of you are doing INCREDIBLE! Have a great Thursday.

Happy Sunday Morning Incredibles!!!

It has been a not so good week here. DH and DD are both sick with a terrible head and chest cold-DH stayed home on Friday. When he went out to pick up DD from school (though I told him she could just take the bus home), he locked his keys in the truck at the library. Thankfully, it is only a short walk to school from the library for him to get to her by dismissal. But I was working 20 miles away and have the spare key to the truck. He tried to call his dad to come get them, but he wasn't home. Thankfully, a friend from the neighborhood was picking up her daughter at school and gave them a ride home. Just then perfect ending to a perfect week:rolleyes: Now I am getting the scratchy throat, hoping that I can stave off this sickness, I got no time for being sick.

Did run 5 miles this morning, have been walking on the treadmill in the mornings during the week. Trying to keep moving and lose weight. Unfortunately, with DH sick, we are eating cr@p and its not working out so well for weight loss. I stocked up on good stuff for this week, just have to stick to plan.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Stay strong, keep being INCREDIBLE!!!

I've not been the best Incredible as of late. I've been SO busy!

Ran the Army Ten Miler here in DC this weekend. I was pleased with my pace. Mentally, it's been tough. In April, I ran the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler with a goal of finishing in 1:50 (11 minute miles). I was slightly off that pace, but still set a PR of around 1:52. Then all my heart issues got discovered, and I ran the Army Ten Miler with a sort-of goal of finishing under 2:10 (13 minute miles, using a run/walk pattern). Well, I made my goal with less than half a minute to spare, but I did it. And yet, I'm not as pleased about it as I could be. I don't know - I think I'm just in a funk.

Some of it is that I keep gaining weight, but I'm crossing my fingers that once I stop these meds, that will change. I'm in the process of weaning off and can actually stop taking them anytime I want, but I'm scared to do it. I don't want the panic attacks to come back. Having weaned down, I've had no problems at all, but it's stopping all together that scares me a lot.

Megan- so sorry you are feeling in a funk. I have two pieces of advice, take them or leave them;).
1. Take a break from running. I was in a horrid funk last year because I was running so much and I was sick of it! Go to the gym, find a dance class, do yoga, bike, hike. Do anything BUT run for awhile. You will feel better and might lose some more weight b/c of the change up.
2. Are you talking to a professional or just going off meds? I highly reccomend a couselor to help you with the panic attacks. When I stopped taking meds the first time it was without support and it didn't work. I now see someone monthly (down from weekly:)) and my panic attacks are few and far between and my anxieties are better under control. It makes a world of difference to have someone guide you.
Hope you are feeling INCREDIBLE again soon!

I had a yucky week last week too. I think I was a little dehydrated, plus the temps are back up to mid-high 80's with high humidity. I drank gallons of water and Gatorade this weekend so am feeling better. We shall see how tonight's speedwoek goes. Otherwise the weekend was fun, Jacksonville has an air show every year and we went Sunday. It was at NAS JAX this year so we got to see the planes and helicopters on the ground and taking off in addition to seeing them flying. They do a great job and always end with the Blue Angels which are so great. The kids absolutely loved it.
You ladies have an INCREDIBLE day!

Well ladies, this is it, the last day of October. Tonight I will start the November thread and will post the link here.

I have been sick all this week, so no real exercise for me. I did walk with DD on Weds night and ran 3 miles yesterday. Tomorrow I will get back to my regular routine. Just going to try to get through today, what with trick or treating and all.

Hope everyone has a fun Halloween.
