Background: This is actually my first post to the DIS board, but I have been an avid, daily reader for the past year. My husband and I went to WDW (CBR)last Feb. for four days and then went on the Disney Magic cruise for three days. A travel agent planned our trip which was a first to WDW for both my husband and I. We had a wonderful time-in fact we had such a great time, I began planning trip #2 for 2001 right when we returned. This time I was going to research everything I could get my hands on and plan everything myself. Let me just say thank you to all who post on this board because I found the info extremely valuable!!! Now on to the trip!!

After months of planning our departure date had finally arrived. We got off to an excellent start with no delays or cancellations on our flights (we were flying delta). We arrived at MCO at 4:30 PM, picked up our rental car at Dollar (129.99 per week small car)and were off to Dixie Landing. It was still light out when we pulled up to DL and I was so impressed with the hotel. The grounds were immaculate and the buildings has incredible charm. Check-in was a breeze and we were given a complimentary upgrade to a river view (a pattern of good luck and free upgrades would be a constant theme throughout our trip)we were given Parterre Place-room 9735. This was a perfect location, very near a quiet pool and just a short walk to the main building. Our room was incredible!! It was very charming, clean, and was decorated impeccably. I was very impressed. We quickly unpacked and headed to the main building to get dinner at the food court. The food court was themed very well and had an excellent selection of food. We had burgers, and beer and I think it was about 20.00. After dinner we tried to catch a boat to downtown disney, but they were not running due to inclement weather. Oh by the way, did I mention it was freezing!!! We were not about to let that deter us, so we headed to the bus stop and not five minutes later we were on our way to DD.
I love DD and Pleasure Island-so we we first arrived I had to do some shopping and sight-seeing just to take it all in. After about an hour we made our way to Disney Quest. This place is awesome and I highly recommend it. We spent about three hours doing everything and then we decided to hit rainforest cafe before they closed for a margarita and a shot of tequila. I know rainforest gets beat up by a lot of people, but my dh and I think it is so cool. We love the bar stools and the staff is always so friendly and upbeat. After our shot we were back on a bus to DL and we decided to check out the bar in the main building. We were in for a real treat when we discovered a piano bar with the most entertaining host. We were able to catch the last hour of his show which was absolutely hilarious. It was packed and everyone was involved with the sing-a-long. The bar was one of the best we had been to at WDW and my dh and I have done them all at both PI and the boardwalk, but the best part of all-we were just a short walk back to our hotel room. We called it a day at midnight and were off to bed with visions of mickey dancing in our heads!!!!! (stay tuned for part two)
