Inching My Way Closer to the Castle Final thoughts/future trips 4/2p90 The End 4/4p92

Oh my! Wonderful, beautiful updates! :worship:

So many beautiful pictures! I can't even get over it! I'm so looking forward to more pictures from both of you! WOW!

Sounds like a love day and the grounds at POFQ look so nice and peaceful!

Jen, I love that you said "now get over it and move on" about the mugs! It bugs me that there's so much that people get bent out of shape about!

Yippeee for DTD! Love drinks look tasty! Woo hooo!

Love the updates from both of you! :cool1: Beautiful pictures of POFQ, it looks like such a pretty resort! And that boat ride looks like so much fun, I'm counting down the days til November and I finally get to be on that boat to DTD myself! :)

:yay: for arriving at the resort and beginning your vacation!

The boat ride to DTD is my favorite thing about the PO resorts :goodvibes

I love the boat ride too. It was so nostalgic for me because POR is where we spent our first on site Disney family vacation. It brings back great memories.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh! :lmao:

Well if Walmart can afford them, why can't Disney?

I have conveniently forgotten what toddlers do, so it took me a moment to figure out what she made when she said "toddler moment".

Yes, it's a restaurant. I remember the Podcast crew talking about it.

I heard its pretty good.

I just love those Disney boats!!
Me :thumbsup2 Too :thumbsup2

I think Jen & I had a room very close to where yours was in Building 3. I'm going to have to go look at my pictures to find out.

.

Were you on the first floor, too? The location was good because it was close to the parking lot, close to the lobby, and close to the pool. Heck, everything was convenient but it wasn't as nice as the location Denny and I had.

Great pictures ladies! I'm jealous of your skills.

That's Jen. My skill is in its infancy.

What a pretty boat ride! :goodvibes I have seen pictures of the inside of the treehouse and it was gorgeous!! Would be fun to stay there with a bunch of people :thumbsup2 Hmmm there isn't a pool though right...you have to go over to SSR :confused3
Great pictures and I looooove the last one where you finally found Rita!! ;)

Tracy

It would be really cool to stay there! I thought there was a pool there. And I think they are adding a pool near the carousel part of SSR because its a bit of a hike to the pool from there (especially if you are in the last building). But I thought the tree houses had a pool. I will admit, I might be wrong. Jen would know. She knows all the SSR stuff.

Glad that you've made it to your resort and that you were given the "good room". The boat ride from the resort to DTD looks beautiful.

Our room was perfect for the night and the boat ride was really lovely. Too bad it was so quick. But Rita was waiting.

Oh my! Wonderful, beautiful updates! :worship:

Thanks. Glad you liked.

Between the two of us we must have taken 3500 pictures. It's ridiculous!

I love POFQ, but the grounds at POR are even prettier. Unfortunately, we have NO POR pics. What can I say? 3500 pictures and no POR pics. We'll just have to see all LL's pics. I know she must have great ones!

Jen, I love that you said "now get over it and move on" about the mugs! It bugs me that there's so much that people get bent out of shape about!

Yeah - I don't like to outright admit that I "recycle" my mugs but when You go on three trips a year that are only 4 or 5 nights each are you really gonna buy a new mug every time? Soda is dirt cheap and I'm sure Disney would come up with a new system if they really were hell bent on stopping recyclers. I am sure there will be in a new pattern in May and then I will get my new mug. I pack them with the intention of using them for pool drinks, but when I see pomegranate lemonade, well all bets are off.

Yippeee for DTD! Love drinks look tasty! Woo hooo!

Jen didn't make me search too long for the Rita and that one was super fine!

Love the updates from both of you! :cool1: Beautiful pictures of POFQ, it looks like such a pretty resort! And that boat ride looks like so much fun, I'm counting down the days til November and I finally get to be on that boat to DTD myself! :)

You are going to LOVE it there. It's such a pretty resort. It's romantic! Perfect for your trip! November will be here before you know it!

Beautiful update! It felt just like I was walking along POFQ and then floating along in the boat. :cloud9: We did the boat once from DTD to OKW and then to SSR and it was such a nice ride. Disney boats are a great way to travel!

Thanks Brooke. The boat is very nostalgic for me. I love it because it reminds me so much of my first onsite trip and my first night there. It was such a magical time.

The folks around here seem pretty level headed about that kind of thing but I don't want to start a fuss. I spent enough money on hard drinks in WDW to make up for the few soft drinks I had for this trip! And MEK is right, if it were a big deal, WDW wouldn't have changed the design of the mug to a generic one.(I have an old CSR mug and POFQ mug that are resort specific).

Oh please! I am not that good, I've just read more books! There are quite a few of yours so far that I really admire!

Yes, THV has it's own pool, bus stops, and dock. I belive there is a mug fill station at the THV pool area too, but don't quote me. It does not have it's own restaurant/cafe, gift shop, or check-in area; those is shares with SSR.

I can't wait to get to the food porn part of this TR because this is what I got to go with my Rum Runner!

Jen I just had lunch but I could go for about half of that sandwich!! I cannot wait to get back to EOS and dig into that Hawaiian BBQ !!! Mmmmmmm

Tracy

Jen, that sandwich looks soooo yummy! I've never been to EOS!! I'm really hoping to try it in a few weeks!

I'm not gonna lie. We weren't super interested in taking pictures of the room at the time of arrival. We just wanted to put our stuff in the room, unload the sherpa cooler, and get our vacation started. Our room was nice, although the cover to the refrig was really banged up and the door opened backward. What's up with that???????

I found out immediately that both Jen and I are crazy picture takers. We stop anywhere, anytime, and click......Just so we can add another digital image to our over burdened memory cards. Why? Because we can! I think the fact that we both had the same photography style helped us be compatible for this trip.

That pool looks pretty, I don't think I've seen pictures of it before. I can't blame you for wanting to just GO, that's how I am when I arrive!

:thumbsup2 on the picture taking.

:worship: Mary Ellen for bringing the mugs! I apologize to those of you who would be :furious: that we'd bring mugs from a different trip; now get over it and move on. :flower3:

When did I have my toddler moment? I believe that was at POFQ after we filled our mugs up. There were a couple more toddler moments later in the trip. What's a toddler moment you ask? I was holding my mug in the crook of my arm when I bent over to pick something up. Guess what happens when you do that? Yes, you spill whatever is in the mug! I see my toddler do this all the time and he can never figure out how it happened :rotfl:

Toddler moment

:rotfl2: I love it!

Very over it on the mugs lol! Although I suppose I'll have to see if they have a new design by may or not, it may be a single use after all. I figure since I've bought 7 of those suckers over the last 18 months, if I can re-use one, one time...Disney still came out WAY ahead. Though I like your "hard stuff" justification better.

Well I'm All caught up while I sit here at mco waiting for our replacement plane. Because ours was broken. Found that out as I was reaading about 9/11. Niice. Ok looks like were boarding . Ttys!

Very yummy looking indeed! Love that pic. Wait till I post mine. It's like all wrapper!

Wow! Where have I been?? Well, I'm here now - going back to catch up! :goodvibes

:welcome: Nathalie! You are not late at all. We just got this party started! Woot! I hope you enjoy because its a tag team TR.

Jen I just had lunch but I could go for about half of that sandwich!! I cannot wait to get back to EOS and dig into that Hawaiian BBQ !!! Mmmmmmm

Tracy

Wouldn't it be fun to try every EOS sandwich at least once! Hawaiian BBQ sounds delish and it won't be long now for you!

Only about a week late, but I just found your new report. Now to get caught up!
:welcome: Glen! You can never be late for this TR!!!!!! So glad you found us!

Jen, that sandwich looks soooo yummy! I've never been to EOS!! I'm really hoping to try it in a few weeks!

You will LOVE EOS. It's really good (and conveniently close to the rita bar). :rolleyes1

That pool looks pretty, I don't think I've seen pictures of it before. I can't blame you for wanting to just GO, that's how I am when I arrive!

:thumbsup2 on the picture taking.

Its not the best pool picture, but it is such a cool pool and resort. I love that place. Seriously, I could go back there anytime and I think its my new official "one-nighter" room. Well, expect for the Dolphin in May!

Toddler moment

:rotfl2: I love it!

Fortunately she didn't have too many of THOSE moments! :rotfl:

I think they will have a new one by May because these mugs have been around for awhile. It's probably going to go with whatever their new theme is. Seriously 7 mugs X $15 - you deserve free soda for life!

That is the best EoS pic I think I've ever seen....droooooooooooooool!

Jen's got that food picture thing down! she knows how to pose the food!

Ok, caught up! Great start Mary Ellen and Jen! :goodvibes Loving all the pics already!

Thanks. I am glad you are enjoying so far. We have many, many more pics to share!

Well I'm All caught up while I sit here at mco waiting for our replacement plane. Because ours was broken. Found that out as I was reaading about 9/11. Niice. Ok looks like were boarding . Ttys!

I was just over on your TR and I wondered why your light was still on. Broke plane.......that explains it! Bad timing of the 911 post I guess. Here's to a safe flight!

The one thing I wanted - really, REALLY wanted was a margarita at the rita shack in DTD. When Jen said, "What do you want to do first?" I said, "rita shack please".

I took a few more pics before we got off the boat.....

IMG_7993.jpg

IMG_7995.jpg

We found the shack without incident. At one point Jen questioned whether it would be open. It was 5 pm, so no worries. We walked right up to an empty shack with two cast members. I was a bit indecisive so I asked the CM's what the best rita was and they said the classic (or classico or something like that). Sold. It was perfect. Great flavor. Just the right amount of salt.

Jen posed my rita with her rum runner......

IMG_7996.jpg

And just in case you can't decide which one you like better.......

IMG_7999.jpg

We sat down and enjoyed the view for a couple minutes.

IMG_7998.jpg

IMG_7997.jpg

But we were STARVING at that point. All I had eaten all day was a 1/2 bagel and the crappy McD's chicken sandwich at the airport. So we set off to EOS. You already saw Jen's sammy. Well, I went a different direction. I got the Mediterranean tuna salad sandwich and it was so good. It has feta cheese, greek olives, and this yummy sauce surrounded by a wrap. So good, but very very messy.

OK - not the best picture because I had already devoured half of it. It's mostly wrapper. Sorry about that!

IMG_8002.jpg

After we ate we finished our yummy drinks and enjoyed the first few moments of real vacation.

While I was sitting there I took a picture of the balloon, but it didn't turn out so thanks to wonderful world of photo editing, here is my balloon pic.....

IMG_8001.jpg

Once we finished our drinks we heard a familiar call.....the call of shopping....

IMG_8004.jpg

Our first stop.....

IMG_8018.jpg

IMG_8017.jpg

This was my first visit to the Basin. Yeah, I know, I lead a sheltered life. Jen swears by the bath bombs.

IMG_8020.jpg

I was more interested in all the cute bars of soap.....

IMG_8021.jpg

Decisions, decisions....but I finally settled on the yellow one....

IMG_8023.jpg

Something so festive about Mickey's on soap!

I almost forgot - our first stop was actually guest services so Jen could get her reward dollars. Then we took a look in arriba's...

IMG_8007.jpg

IMG_8008.jpg

They have some really cool things here.....

IMG_8010.jpg

IMG_8013.jpg

IMG_8009-1.jpg

IMG_8016-1.jpg

IMG_8015.jpg

THEN we went to the Basin. Sorry for the foggy memory, but I am certain I know where we went last.....

IMG_8005.jpg

This store is always so crazy busy full of people. In a short amount of time it is complete sensory overload for me, but in the meantime I took a bunch of pictures........

IMG_8029.jpg

IMG_8030.jpg

IMG_8031.jpg

continued.........

When Brian was younger he used to collect baseballs whenever we went to Disney. He doesn't really care about them anymore, but personally I think the make a great sovie....

IMG_8025.jpg

Jen and I developed a tad of a crush on the vinylmation guys.....

IMG_8039.jpg

IMG_8040.jpg

Some of them are so darn cute. Disney marketing at its best!

Here is the mug I bought in May that got broken in two weeks. Before the end of the trip I had a new one in m hot little hands....

IMG_8046.jpg

You'll never guess where I got it??????? I should make that a contest. Too bad I don't have any cool prizes! Ah, well, take a guess anyway.

There were so many cute T's to choose from.....

IMG_8026.jpg

IMG_8027.jpg

IMG_8028.jpg

I am a sucker for halloween decorations......

IMG_8033.jpg

This was actually a design in the wall......

IMG_8036.jpg

Remember the gnome days? What ever happened to that gnome?

IMG_8043.jpg

Hidden Mickey in one of the displays.....

IMG_8042.jpg

Oh how I would love one of these.......

IMG_8041.jpg

I did buy a couple cool postcards here, but i didn't take pictures of them. I love to collect the post cards because they make a nice inexpensive souvie and I frame them and keep them on my Disney shelf.

By now I was getting a little antsy so I texted Jen to tell her I was taking a bio break. As soon as I walked outside what did I see?

The sun was just setting. By the time I got my camera out I missed the last little sparkle go down behind the clouds, but the sky sure was beautiful.

IMG_8049.jpg

IMG_8051.jpg

Jen and I met up at Tren-D. So many cute things in there.

IMG_8055.jpg

IMG_8053.jpg

IMG_8056.jpg

IMG_8057.jpg

When we got outside the last of the pink sky was fading fast but I managed to get a couple of quick pics......

IMG_8060.jpg

IMG_8058.jpg

Night time at DTD but we still had a few more shops to visit......

IMG_8059.jpg

Up Next...More of DTD and Be-bopping along with Bob!

Love your Andy Warhol-esque balloon shots! Very neat!

Pumpkin Mickey soap??? Sigh. That's what I need at my house.

Enjoyed all the shopping pics -- it is always fun to virtually shop on the DIS!

Great Rita and RR pictures!! :thumbsup2 I can almost taste them!!

Happy you finally made it through the doors at Basin ;) The vanilla soap was a good start.....I really love the bath bombs too....especially if you are staying in a 1br villa and have the jacuzzi tub:cloud9: Hey Melissa needs to try them instead of bubbles :rotfl2:

What a beautiful sunset...nothing like a Florida sky!!:worship:

Those little vinylmations are so cute but I would want too many :rolleyes1

I could spend hours in TrenD....there is so much to look at from the displays to all of the unique merchandise.....well maybe not hours but you know what I mean ;)

:worship: pictures

Tracy

OMG amazing pictures of DTD! I must go to that margarita shack, I always walk by it when I'm there but I never stop! :lmao:

I've only been in Basin once and never bought anything, I kind of just walked through, and after seeing those Mickey soap pics, I have to go in there and get one! So cute! :lovestruc

Love the sunset pictures! And I want one of those Disney D&B purses sooooo bad...I'm hoping I have enough $$$ in November to at least get a wristlet! :)
