to the hair. I think your hair looks fine, but I know what you mean about the wet hair thing. My hair is total frizz the whole time I am in Florida. It starts out great, but quickly reaches the point where no product in the world can fix it. I think that's why Anita wears that crazy shower cap on splash.

I think you are lucky to be tall! I always wanted to be tall. And now I am certain I must be shrinking. I don't even want to know my "new" height.

It was a pretty stupid mistake, but looking back it doesn't surprise me. I have to stay real focused and follow a routine or I get very forgetful.

I pretty happy with my castle shots and leave to Jen to incorporate the topiaries. She's got that creative gene going full tilt. Now we will all be going out and trying it.

NO - the only thing worse would have been to have the battery or night and not know it was there. Then I would have been really annoyed if I had carried the camera around and not taken a single picture when I could have. That would have been a DOH DOH DOH DOH DOH DOH moment!

Thanks for all the kind words about my fireworks pics! I was in a terrible spot actually. The bridge between Tomorrowland and the hub was devoid of people because the view was nonexistant. I had to do some moving around to get any of those shots. Had I thought about it sooner I would have been able to key in my setting for a better finale shot with the topiaries, but that pic is just blown out. The trick is using the TV mode and setting a long shutter speed *with* the flash. Most cameras default to 1/60 of a second when you pop the flash, but the fireworks won't turn out with a shutter speed that fast. In TV mode you can set a longer shutter speed, like 1/20 or 1/10 of a second. The flash illuminates the foreground and the extended shutter speed allows the fireworks to develop in the background. I think I could have gotten away with 1/20 instead of the 1/10 that I used; darn hindsight.

As to the kind and patient friend comment, I agree with Mary Ellen

A Chinese CM made an AWESOME Jafar/Genie picture when we were in Epcot last may. The highlight, of course, was the older couple, complete with scooter, driving directly over it a minute after he finished. Apparently a ring of people looking down is not enough to catch some people's attention.

I brought Pal Mickey with me instead and I realized why they don't sell them anymore. What I pain to carry him around. Flat Mickey was much easier to work with, although less witty.

It was really cool. I believe they said it started in Hong Kong Disney and it was such a crowd pleaser that they started encouraging it. I bet towel animals started the same way.

Once the Forgetful Sherpa returned from her fool's errand, she found LL and Marc, who I had been dutifully looking for in a poodle skirt and bowling shirt for a good 10 minutes. MEK and LL chatted it up and we all headed off to Splash Mtn.

Yes, that really is Mary Ellen riding Splash Mountain (wearing a yellow poncho and dollar store glowstick mask and mardi-gras beads) with her hands up screaming like a small child. I love the magic of Walt Disney World

Then she did it. She made me RUN! And she didn't even know where we were running TO! I think if she had really known where we were running to we would have run THE OTHER WAY! As it was, we took the long way.

Mary Ellen has mentioned that she likes to run. She ran just about every morning we were there. She'll probably run every morning on her May trip. Let me tell you how I feel about running.

I only run when chased.

I only run when chased by something larger and/or meaner than me. And in the event that I encounter that thing, I only have to run faster long enough to get farther ahead of you.

It did not take me long to run out of steam! Granted, laughing along the way didn't help! What were we talking about that made us crack up? It was something about our shoes I think. Damn, I wish I remembered!

The GREAT and WONDERFUL thing about traveling with a true friend and WDW Geek is that we are ok together and apart. I enjoyed watching the fireworks and even managed to get a couple good shots!

I can't believe it either! The least she could do is get good sunset pics on the trip back. I have to admit, I was trying to cover my hip pack so my camera would stay dry! The mask is a great touch though!

I'm still pretty speechless about that camera saga. I keep thinking, "Why didn't I ask to take a look?"... duh, why in the heck would I ask to see the camera? To see if I could magically make a battery appear? (granted, I could have, but I didn't know that then!) "Didn't she feel the weight difference?"... well, with the stuff she was sherpa-ing around it would be easy to miss a simple battery, especially since she didn't pick the camera up out of the bag. As soon as she saw the charger missing she was sure the battery was with it. Whaddyagonnado?

Thanks, I took that pic of her and LL It was a lot of fun meeting fellow DISers. I did a big DIS meet once a few years back. There was an Illuminations ice cream party for DelsWife and it was great to meet all those DISers!

I wonder if there is a history behind the towel animals? It went from being a special thing to get one, to finding many of them, and now they offer classes on how to make them! You have to wonder if they were really CM's on the cleaning crew or just artists dressed as cleaning CM's?

I used her running time for sleep-in time. She was very gracious and got the coffeemaker ready either the night before or before she left to run. She also didn't snuff me out with a pillow for snoring too loud!

After the fireworks... we, um... I don't remember. But I know we watched the parade at some point!
I met this fine lady right beforehand; my favorite Villain!

I got very few good pics of the parade. Wrong camera and not enough light. Here are the passable ones.

I love the Gravediggers from the HM float! They drag their shovels and cause sparks, which I really wanted a pic of, but they did it *just* as they walked off!

That is SO something I would do.

In fact I've panicked TWICE in 2 weeks about new cards that didn't come, getting them canceled in my attmept to say "hey you losers, you didn't send it to me" only to then find them. And of course I can't activate them as they canceled them thinking they were lost.

Arrgh. Clearly I need to clean up my office. Better I don't get nicer camera, I'm lucky to keep the battery charged on the one I had, I sent Jeff out with it not that long ago, sans battery...
