After my sister threw out the idea of a birthday party for my new brother-in-law on the first weekend of October, my partner and I immediately leaped at the chance to go back to the World for another Food and Wine festival. However, I noticed that there will be a half marathon that weekend! I will definitely be participating in that, but I was wondering if anyone else out here was. It'd be great to post our progress, or training ideas. I haven't done a half marathon since October 2006, so I'm a bit rusty.

That sounds like quite a combination! A half marathon and the Food and Wine Festival! ::yes::

I can't remember which weekend, but I think there is one of the weekends in October designated as Gay Weekend... it's in a thread around here somewhere...

It would take a great airfare deal to get me to do Wine and Dine this year. I am signed up for the disneyland 1/2 Labor Day weekend so will be training for that this summer.

There is a Wine n Dine thread over on the WISH boards.

Good luck with your training!

I'll be there for the Wine and Dine Half. It'll be my first half. Some friends are doing the relay version.

My partner and I will be there - looking forward to it. It will be his first Disney half and my second - en route to Goofy in 2011!!

Disney does a great job with its races, and this looks like a very interesting course (not just a repeat of the January half, which would have been easy to do since it already ends at Epcot).

Has anyone seen the course yet? As of this morning, the webpage still said "coming soon". I did hear that MK won't be included, which bums me a little bit, but there's always the January race for that one.

It's my first half, too! My partner and I will be in Orlando just for the weekend!

Here's the course description. No MK.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Course Description
Start at the newly re-imagined ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex running down Victory Way and then west on Osceola Parkway toward Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. Make your way past the Tree of Life, Expedition Everest™, Dinosaur® and then race back to Osceola Parkway and head toward Disney's Hollywood Studios™. You will enter the park in the shadow of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™, run down Sunset Boulevard through Pixar Place, past Toy Story Mania!, then through the Costuming Tunnel in the Backlot on your way to Lights Motor Action! for your big debut! Race through the Streets of America, past Star Tours and Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular on your way to Epcot®! The course will wind through the idyllic village of Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and lead you through the international gateway entrance to Epcot®, where you will finish just before your party at World Showcase!

As of yesterday, the Disney Endurance site listed the Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay as being 50% full.

OK runners, time to resurrect this thread... 58 days to go! Who's ready? I'm back up to 5 mile training runs during the week, and long 8-10 milers on the weekend. As long as it's not brutally hot, I think I'll be able to do well.

How's everyone else doing? :cheer2:

Oh and I signed up for the MK Halloween 5K the morning of the race... I couldn't resist! More medals, more tshirts, and I get to run through MK! :)
