Inaugural Norway Fjord Cruise 6.6.15 with new pics

Another terrific report. Love Olaf. He's darling especially with his ice cream (my DD loved getting her ice cream on our cruise). Great pictures. Adding Norway to the bucket list.

Thanks; glad you enjoyed it! That costume served as a parka during this trip. Ironically he only wore it in Norway, not on sea days. The soft serve was a hit. Definately go to Norway- "you will not be the first to pass this way, nor shall you be the last..."

I saw little Olaf around the ship a few times!! What a cute costume!

I loved seeing something of the Bryggen museum as we originally wanted to go there, but then skipped it as we were just tired and wanted to relax back on the ship.

Flossbolna, that's neat that you saw us. The Magic is a small world! I wish I had made it to the Dis meetup but we were so overwhelmed on embarkation day. Hopefully next time.

The Bryggen museum was definately worth a visit. I bet one could spend several days in Bergen and never repeat an activity. What did you do there?

We had ordered the Bergen Card by mail before the cruise and with that we jumped on a public bus just in front of the ship to go to Gamle Bergen, which is a collection of old wooden houses around Bergen. This was really nice as you could go inside the houses and they were furnished like they would have been around 1900 or so. From there back into town, had some lovely Norwegian pastries (I love their baked goods!) and then on to the leprosy museum (it is a Unesco World heritage site as Norway was the center of leprosy research in the 1800s). Then we walked around town, saw the railway station, the town hall etc. Explored some of the normal shops (not the souvenir shops). Went up to Mount Floyen. Desperately tried to find a mail box and ended up leaving our post cards with a nice guy in the tourist information. And then took the bus back to the ship. I think we just about broke even on the Bergen card, but it was nice to have it and be able to take the bus whenever we felt like it. It was a great day, but in the end we were a bit tired out after the previous three port days. I really would have preferred to have a sea day in the middle of the cruise as well!
