In your opinion what is the best beach in Florida and why?

I vote for mid-west coast, the St. Petersburg Beach area. Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, and Treasure Island are all in the same area. I lived in that area for 32 years, then moved to Maryland. We now vacation in Treasure Island almost every year (most of my family are still in FL) Many of the beaches are not overlly crowded, and they are beautiful. Clearwater beach can get a little crowded at times, but it is a definite fun place for teens.

Another vote for Seaside, that's where we stayed last summer, the whole family loved the beautiful beach!!:teeth: It's quiet, no jetskis, etc. though, so if that's what you're looking for, Panama City Beach would be better.

The whole area between Pensacola and Panama City Beach is just gorgeous, we absolutely love visiting there!!::yes::

I'd have to put a vote in for Treasure Island over by the Clearwater/St. Pete area. It may not be the softest sand, but the beach and area are very nice, and it is not packed like some beaches. We go over there every few weeks, although with the price of fuel now-a-days, it may become a bit less. It is a 60 mile each way trip for us.

Manasota Key in Englewood. I love the Gulf beaches, can't beat the blue-green water.:sunny:

My kids and I are going with a friend of mine and her children to Sarasota next week so I hope it's nice.

Disney's Carribean BEACH Resort is my Favorite. The only real beach in FL was Cocoa Beach.

I'm voting for Pensacola Beach myself. Just love that place. White sandy beaches.

Siesta Key, hands down! It is has incredible soft sugar white sand. The water is crystal clear and there is not much of an undertow or rip current problem. It is heaven.

My favorite beach of all is Navarre Beach. It's between Pensacola Beach and Destin/Fort Walton Beach. The Destin area and Pensacola Beach area are very touristy - lots of people. Navarre is very quiet. It's not as developed as the other beach areas. They have a few large condos and a Holiday Inn right on the beach. No rocks, beautiful white sand and that gorgeous blue/green water. If I can't go to WDW, then I have to head to Navarre!

I was going to post a pic from Siesta Beach, and a pretty sunset view of Venice Pier, but could not figure how to get them into the message despite a lot of searching on the tech board.

Nevertheless, Siesta Beach was amazing :)

Cati,

I don't know if you have kids or not, but we always make the time to spend a few days at Venice Beach which is just south of Sarasota (which is also nice) on the Gulf side. Venice Beach is a small community with a nice shopping area and it is known for it's fossilized sharks teeth which wash up on the sand. My kids just love the challenge of hunting for shark's teeth. There aren't alot of hotels and the one's on the beach are a bit pricey ($225/night) but they're nice. There's a Best Western right on the beach and one called Inn at the BEach.

Sounds though from the feedback so far, I just might try Destin myself! :)

The Best Western Sandbar is on the beach in Venice, is a very nice hotel, but it is being converted into condos and is closing July 7 this year. We got a 1 bedroom suite for $119.00/ nite end June , early July. My Aunt and cousins highly recc it for all relatives visiting them, they've lived in Venice for several years.

We like the Florida Panhandle:

From West to East:

Perdido Key, Pensacola Beach, Navare Beach, Destin, Sandestin, Beaches of South Walton County, Seaside, Seagrove.

All beautiful emerald water, clean beaches.

www.sandestin.com is a awesome resort just east of Destin.
