In what order at a party???? Need advice!

Ok, for DH's surprise birthday party, I have yet to figure out the order. first I will have everyone grab their champagne and then go to their places. Then I will say a generalized welcome and thank you for all those that helped. then what??? Do you do the toast first and then the prayer, or prayer first and then the toast???

Also, I have a video presentation that is about 1/2 hr long. It is pictures and clips of interviews, some people got long winded so don't yell at me for how long it is!! LOL!!!) Do I first have them eat cake and deserts and then show it? Or do I have them get their deserts and then they can eat while they watch. The problem with that is, that many will have to move their chairs to see the tv and won't have a place to put their coffee and desert plate.

Hmmmm I would say prayer and then you can start the festivities with a toast.

Show the long winded video while they are enjoying their desserts. Do you have little tray tables you can sit around for more places to put plates? Have fun.
