Does anyone go insane trying to plan the perfect Vacation? pixiedust: We leave on Thursday and I have turned into a neurotic crazy mom. I let my kids stay home on Friday(day before Vacation) because half the school was sick and i could not take sending them into germville one more day. :teeth: (Flame start now) Also something else beyond my control the weather. It says 20 percent and 30 percent chance of rain most days so far. But that stresses me . I just want to get to disney just so i can stop thinking about what abouts. sorry so long

Although I always plan the perfect vacation, I also know it won't be. Something always ends up differently because of the kids attitudes, weather or something. Plan for perfect, expect less then be pleasantly surprised if it is better than expected - perfect!!

Plan, plan, plan so you are prepared. When you get there just go with the flow. Have fun spending time with your family.

First of all, relax. This is a vacation for you too, so don't stress over things you can't control. It's easier at WDW to make every situation a little better. Our bus driver for ME explained the rain forecast like this. If it says a 30% chance of rain, that means that some time during the day it will rain for 30 minutes, etc. The kids will inevitably have a meltdown at some point. They all do, no matter what age they are. After all the planning and excitement building and the traveling, when they get there, they get overwhelmed at some point. I remember the first time we went, my son was 9. He had such a meltdown at the MK, I could have cried. My perfect vacation was going so perfectly. All it turned out to be was he really wanted a Sorcerer Mickey hat, but didn't want to ask for it. He didn't want to "bug" us, was how he put it. It took him over an hour to tell us that's what was wrong. This past trip a couple of weeks ago, we had a day and a half of torrential downpours with tornado warnings. We just made the best of it, wore ponchos and when we got too wet, we went back to the room, changed, and went back out. Just take in the beauty and magic of it all. Enjoy!!!

I totally understand what you are talking about. We're not going till June so I have much longer to worry. Will someone going on the trip get sick?; will someone else in the family not going get sick preventing us from going?; how will the weather be; you hope nothing "major" comes up w/your house or autos forcing you to put money into it instead of your trip. Now you got me all worked up. But I try to push those thoughts aside and just concentrate on the fun we'll have while we're there and how I'll be riding Small World and think to myself "why did I waste all that time worrying". But until then, the next 123 days are going to drag.

I dont have kids but i am freaking out already-- i am gong in sept and want to move my vacation up a week and i am thinking- wait- what if i move it up and then there is a hurricane that week- i should have left it the way it was---
or if i dont move it- and there is a hurricane- i will be thinking i should have moved it up a week like i was going to!! :rotfl2:

also- me and DH took our 4yr old niece to disney in dec and was afraid she would have a meltdown or 2--- well it was more than that- however- i want to thank all you disney parents who just gave us a look like....."WE KNOW HOW YOU FEEL-- WE HAVE BEEN THERE!!" actually some did actually say just that. it made us feel so much better when she "freaked out" for no reason! i think if we had her somewhere other than disney i would have felt sooo embarrassed!!

my husband says to me when i get freaked--- "stop being wacky"!

(well thanks dear- that is becasue all YOU have to do is get on the plane, maybe carry the carry on bag and then when we arrive- say "what did you pack me to wear!! :lmao: )

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS.....WELCOME TO THE WACKY CLUB!!! :rotfl:

I love to plan the perfect vacation too, but in reality it usually doesn't happen. So instead of stressing over stuff I can't have any control over, I make a few plans that can be changed when I'm given an problem. I have 2 boys and believe me with children plans are made to be changed and often they do. I have learned to roll with the flow.

Boy you said a mouth full with your DH comment. I have to pack for all four of us (DH, DD, DS & self). I could ask him over and over "do you want to take this?" "do you want that?" and he would just say "I don't care". Then five minutes after opening his luggage I hear "why did you bring this?" "Where's my red shirt?". Please :headache: I'm planning our upcoming trip for 10 people. I can't even tell you how many hours I've put into the planning (even signed up for TGM). Anytime I ask for someone's input or suggestions they just say "just tell me where I have to be, when, and how much it's going to cost". Just let someone say "why are we doing this?" They'll find themselves permanent additions to the hippo pond in AK. :scared:

HA the hippo pond!! :lmao:

10 people- bless ya! i cant handle the 2 of us! i tell my husband all the time-- if i had kids i would be in the looney bin!

my husband does not even comment on what i pack him--- he is the kind of guy who says-- you know me-- whatever you pack me will be fine. and i am very lucky it is true-- they only thing he will say when we get there- what shirt did you pack me that matches these shorts!

next time i think i will hook them together like garanimals!!! (sp) :lmao:

Atleast your DH asks if something matches! I'll be busy getting myself & the kids dressed to head out the door to the parks and not really pay attention to what DH has on until we get to the door and I'll be like "what in the heck do you have on?" and he'll just stare at me like "what's wrong with this?". He often wonders why I'm "Grumpy" when this happens; I tell him it's because he's "Dopey". I love your granimals idea! Either that or just buy everything in the same color so nothing can be mismatched. My 5 year old DS has more fashion sense sometimes. As for a trip with 10 family members, let's just say that dinner ADR at Margaritaville will probably be more of a "liquid" dinner. :drinking:

i hear you--- when DH and i took our niece to the princess breakfast in Norway- i plopped down and said to the waiter--- a mimosa PLEASE! :lmao:

he was very happy to oblige! as i am sure your Margaritaville waiter will! :thumbsup2

I always become Planning Queen for a Disney vacation. Heck, look at how much I post, clearly Disney planning is something I love to do for myself and anybody else who will listen to me! I also totally understand about keeping your kids home. You have speant a fortune on this vacation and if you cancel too close in you will lose money. So that just makes sense in my book. I am lucky, we have year round schooling which means we have three weeks off every nine weeks. I try to plan our Disney trips in the middle so that the first week of break my kids are home getting over anyting they might have picked up. So I plan like crazy, use TGM, read all my guidebooks, type a schedule but then when I get there I am suddenly relaxed and going with the flow. Sometimes my plans get bagged but I am so happy to be there it doesn't seem to matter anymore. So plan away, stress away, it will make your actual vacation that much sweeter! And many of those plans and tidbits of information you have collected will spell out a successful time at WDW because you will have spent the time making that happen.

I love planning but learned to go with the flow. If everyone stays happy, that will be the perfect vacation. You're only as happy as the weakest link.
