The real me is hiding under layers of fat that drag me down each and every day. I'm ready to do this, I NEED to do this not only for me but for my boys. I want to be there for them, when they graduate from school, get married and have children of their own. I want to feel good again, to have energy and confidence.

I'm Donna a 35 year old Mom to 2 amazing little men and wife to my best friend. I'm 5'6" and weighing in at a whopping 232 pounds :scared1: My goal is 160 pounds which I know is a very comfortable weight for me. Anything below that would be icing on the cake so to speak!

I have struggled in the past few years losing and then gaining. I've done Atkins successfully losing 40 pounds then ran into problems with my kidneys which was most likely caused from the protein overload. I cam off of that and slowing but surely gained everything back. I find I don't loose weight easily now. It take A LOT of effort and it's a very SLOW process. I normally get very discouraged that the effort I put in doesn't match the results I get. This time I'm going to weigh in once a week only and possible once every two weeks if weekly isn't reaping any rewards.

How am I going to do this...watching what I eat, no more fast food (that is my biggest evil), more fruits and more vegs. Nightly exercise beginning with the 2 mile Walk Away the Pound videos. My ultimate goal is to complete the Couch to 5K program. I'm leary to start the program now because winter is coming and running on icy sidewalks isn't a great idea. I figure I'll use the walking videos nightly and by spring I should be in much better shape which will obviously make program that much more a attainable.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the other weight loss people here and hope that this is truely the beginning of the new me!

Good for you, Donna!! The first step is always the hardest, but you've taken it by making the decision to get healthy. I'm trying to find my way back to a healthier me, too - I've lost 20 pounds so far, but still have about 70 more to go.

I'm watching what I eat and running 5 days a week on the treadmill, but the most important thing to do is find something that works for YOU and stick with it. Remember: YOU ARE WORTH IT!!! :thumbsup2

Donna:

You are starting very close to the weight I was when I begin "trying again" to get the pounds off and keep them off for good this time. It takes a huge amount of effort, but now that I'm down 57 lbs and 33 from goal, and I'm seeing "me" come back, it very motivating to continue.

I also was able to lose using Atkins, but it came right back as soon as I added in the starchy carbs and brought "friends." Whatever you do, it has to be the right plan for you and the commitment to exercise will help.

Best of life to you! (There is no luck, only effort). You can do it.

Best of luck! I know for me Weight Watchers has been great. Starting a WISH Journal has also helped me be so much more accountable. I bought a few workout dvds and am waiting for them to arrive. I'm hoping doing them will help me shed a few more pounds. I've been reading up on yoga as well and planning to start incorporating that into my routine. Like a PP said, do what works for you. I'm into exercising these days and wish I could go to the gym. When I first started Weight Watchers, I was so heavy that walking was exhausting so I just focused on what I was eating. Again, best of luck!
