In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Slushy here but school and work are open! I am still sore from my 5 miles on Sunday - maybe more sore today then yesterday. :confused3 My schedule says short run today but my brain says "leaving in the AM, things to do!!!!" so we shall see who wins! Packing my running shoes at any rate!

Funny how that happens! I think I am more sore today than I was yesterday too.

So excited for your trip!!!

Erin's take on the protein bars is they are definitely not created equal. Some are nutritionally no better than candy bars. I'm not a huge protein bar fan in general...just too calorie dense for me if that makes any sense.

And holy cheeze nips! What an insane hockey schedule! Did you give yourself the day off today?

Saturday. Oh joyful Saturday :thumbsup2

...

Lisa- I think I just became a temporary Steelers fan. I hope Jean's happy.

I didn't look at the nutritional value on the Special K one, but I think it was about 180 cals. It was provided to me by BIL and better than what I had (nothing). South Beach's are in the 140 range, as are the Kashi, but the protein value is a little less.

All are better than the standard cereal bar when it comes to protein, though.

I generally stick to the Kashi because the price is right, I like the taste, they are easy to grab on the way to a run, and they don't upset my tummy. The Honey/Flax are my fav.

Steelers all the way here. You knew that, though.

Nancy, how is your headache? Better?

somewhat, thanks for asking. I'll give it another day and if tomorrow I'm not back to normal I'll call the chiropractor. I'm due for an adjustment anyway.

This might be my last post until next week, so have a great week everyone!!!

I'm not surprised that today is more sore than yesterday - Delayed onset. It happens. :goodvibes Your trip is going to be awesome! Sun, sand, warmth....ahhhh!

I just did an hour on the TM here at home. Walking, not running. Today was supposed to be a strength day, but due to the craptastic weather I didn't venture out to the gym. I'm supposed to get my hair cut and colored later this morning. I'm SO over due it's appalling  I need to call and see if they are there and decide what to do!

Kat - I am getting pumped for my trip! And what's crazy, is it is making me excited for the Princess tip, too!

Tell us your WDW pans, if you can!

Nancy - Hair color is something I would venture out into hail for, myself. :rotfl:

Also, do I push myself and hit the gym? I have to pick up E, have her do homework, finish my packing myself, and get E to my inlaws for dinner and staying overnight. Then home later, get house ready for departure, etc etc. Do I throw the gym into that? Easier if I don't because that hour plus (with travel, kid, ets) takes up time, but relieves stress. Hmm. What to do.

LiZ, have a great time

Nancy sorry for the snow we have ice here

Bad day at work. I stood up for myself to the boss today i
hopw it does not back fire and they take my work at homw day away

Good morning all. Great run on the TM. I've been tweaking my playlist and it helps. I'm likely late to the party with this one, but "Extraordinary" by Liz Phair is a great kick off song. The Supergoddess line tops it off! Future hearing loss will be attributed to this, Ronda's treadmill period.

It's supposed to get really cold and snow again this week. A friend at work is training for New Orleans Marathon in February... He did 18 on the treadmill last week.

Ronda

Liz - have fun! Lovely.

Nancy - oh yes - she will be pleased. :goodvibes

Haven't caught up. Will. Hi to everyone. :lovestruc

Funny story.

At my parents - last night - finally opening my Secret Santa gifts (we pick names in our family). They live about an hour a half away so it took some organizing to finish Christmas. Everyone was here before Christmas for my festivities but my secret santa was not ready.

My niece - that one that's making me a GREAT Aunt - let's do this :lovestruc AND this :scared1: for that. The latter being wasn't she just born and has my life even started? :rotfl2: And I'm now I"m in Great land. :surfweb: That niece was there because she had Christmas dinner - so presents were at her house and her and her hubby just coincidentally were Jean and my SSs.

So anyway - I've caught on Facebook that my sister received a present from my brother. popcorn::

So I dealt with it head on because my parents hadn't said a thing.

Did my brother send me a present?

Oh yes.

Yeah. :dance3: Presents. :lmao:

BUT my mother has no idea where it is. None. Yes I'm aware my father just doesn't really learn that she can't be holding things in her state. And he doesn't have a clue. No one does. My niece goes and investigates her hiding spots.

And she finds cashews for me and Jean. Good work my dearest.

But no present from California.

Oh well - who knows how I'm going to deal with this to say thank you. Thank you for my _________?

So as the night goes on I hear my father talk to Jean about how much he loves his new scarf. How he's worn it many times. And loves it. Jean was his SS.

She informs him she didn't buy him a scarf and he thinks I guess it came from Mom and she's forgotten or someone gave it to him. But he loves it. :lmao:

And of course - I didn't get the legs ;) but I did get some brain cells.

So I go Dad - no one can find my present - you have a present that no one will ante up for.

Equals I tihnk I got a scarf. :rotfl: Mystery solved. Not how my present was suddenly unwrapped and going to the theatre and out for dinner and became a much loved man scarf.

So my dad phones California and I did receive a lovely two tone brown/camel scarf loved by men and women alike. :rotfl2:

And I had to take it. BECAUSE I LOVED IT. And because my father would never keep it even if I inisisted. Ever.

Brown is my colour. Too bad it's my father's as well. :lmao:

Hi all! Feeling better, but not 100%. I can breathe so its a plus. I have a short essay due tomorrow on what I don't like about my job - 5 paragraphs maximum.

Nancy - Hair color is something I would venture out into hail for, myself. :rotfl:

Sleet and freezing rain. And OF COURSE I went. I called to let them know I was still coming and Stephen is in the background saying "Hell yes she's coming! She'll be there even if she has to WALK there" Yeah. I was overdue. But the roads :scared1: Seriously hideous. Like stupid driving. But, all is good, and I definitely love my new car :thumbsup2

Also, do I push myself and hit the gym?

yes. or not. :confused3 You have to be realistic with your schedule. If it's going to make you to crazed to squeeze one more thing in, then no. But if you can make it work without super stress & hassle, I say do it.

wow. totally helpful, wasn't I?;)

I'm likely late to the party with this one, but "Extraordinary" by Liz Phair is a great kick off song. The Supergoddess line tops it off!

hmmm. Must go listen right now.

It's supposed to get really cold and snow again this week. A friend at work is training for New Orleans Marathon in February... He did 18 on the treadmill last week.

18 on a TM is a different kind of torture. When I did the Mickey we had a horrendous December and I did all my long runs on the TM. For my 20 miler I did 5 miles on each of 4 different TM's. Oh the games I play to get thru sometimes :sad2:

Equals I tihnk I got a scarf. :rotfl: Mystery solved. Not how my present was suddenly unwrapped and going to the theatre and out for dinner and became a much loved man scarf.

:lmao: Oh Lisa. :lmao: That is really funny. I know it's hard at the same time, but seriously. That just made my day.:lmao:

:rotfl2: I love that they put a MAXIMUM. 'Cause I'm sure that there are plenty of things to write about

EXACTLY my thoughts!!!

Lisa - stealing from an old man...Tsk, tsk. :lmao: Kidding of course!

Nancy - Thank God you have your priorities straight!:rotfl: Do you look fab? Pic?

I didn't go to the gym. I feel stressed and freaked and just AAACKKK. Still have to corral homework and make every minute count and clean my whole house and have dinner with my inlaws and I really want to run one teeny errand. Yeah, I should go have a glass of wine asap.

 to all!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I told this story to my two coworkers and we all had a good laugh.

Liz, wine. Stat.

Lisa, laughing and sighing on the scarf, at the same time.

Crazy day here, first time I have sat at my desk since 10AM. Tomorrow I have both 9AM and 6PM meetings scheduled. :upsidedow

Drinking. :drinking1

Also, getting offline so I can finish my stuff. Trying to not freak out!

Long, long day at work. I did some retail therapy online at Victoria Secret and tried to locate a bottle of wine I want to buy my bf for Valentine's Day.

I feel a little better after all that!

It's so refreshing to come here and be surrounded by positivity. :lovestruc

I'm doing much better today, and believe it or not, coming back to work today was actually a blessing because it provides a distraction!

(edited to lessen drama :))

I guess it's in rough times that you really do figure out who your friends are. I've made the decision that those who don't support me and want me to be happy can take a hike. Carlos is first and foremost my absolute best friend and if people are going to put themselves in the situation to force me to choose between them and him....well then they probably won't like the outcome.

And apparently whatever is wrong with me doesn't like stress because I have been in pain all weekend. I know IBS flares with stress, but I don't know if Crohn's does.

I go back to school tonight, I'll have class Mon-Thurs until 9:15 so how I manage my diet with it should be pretty interesting!

Jo-I think it was you that asked about the meds? They don't make me sick anymore but are still making me pretty loopy. They seem to help the pain some but aren't helping all the other symptoms that come along with it. My bathroom habits are still all haywire. So it's a half success I guess? lol

I hope everyone's having a good day/week!!!!

Lisa, I can't believe your dad got your gift. You poor thing! :)

Kat, I though you were headed out on vacation, long day ahead for you.
hugs to you too:hug:

Amiee, I could fill up 5 pages in 20 mins. :rotfl2:

Liz, Have a wonderful time, don't worry if you don't clean your house you won't be there to see the mess. :lmao:

I just did 1.3 miles on the treadmill, I was going for 2 but my little one wanted to play beauty shop. So I stopped.
I will try elliptical for a bit after dinner,
My weekday short runs are just about non existent. Having a small issue with my right quad again, It very tight, I don't know if I should rest or push it.
Oh, and I am up 2.5lb's??

Paper is written and edited for the first time. I spent less than an hour on it. lol

Sneezing my head off and still loving Puffs.

I'm curious Jo, do you stretch after you work out? And WHAT? Up 2.5 ? yikes. What's goin' on there? :confused3

:lmao: way to go EE!

Liz - have a super time :goodvibes

Meg- retail therapy is always nice. How are things at work now that you've given your notice?

Cathie - <sigh> yep. Stress will certainly do a number on you. Hope you get it all figured out soon.

Paula - it's Tuesday! What was for dinner tonight? popcorn::

Kat - you have a 9 am meeting? YOU. Meeting at 9:00 AM ? Clearly someone else set that up :upsidedow

Erika - where are you? Still at the water park?

Kelly - good luck with your running tomorrow :yay:

Dinner was my Mom's pot roast - my favorite. Just smelling it is like a hug to me which was very much needed. I am still out of sorts and just trying to be right now. I am reading but don't have much to say. I am fine and plugging along. :grouphug:
