In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

eh, not too bad. 25-ish minutes probably?

And the gym now?

I have a great answer for this but I need to put it offline, okay? Got it all sorted, though! :thumbsup2

Forgot. Yesterday.

First, I am pile of crap of emotions these last few days so forgive me if they're spilling over to this - quite possible. I can't seem to understand where anything is coming from these last few days. I think I"m winding down in time - people around me are winding down - and well I'm rambling.

I hate this Liz.

Are you afraid this person will show up? (of course answer me by email if that's too much of a question). If so, ignore me below. Cause it would all be irrelevant.

I hate it because I feel that the choice is allowing this person to take away something. And that doesn't seem right to me. Yes some of my thoughts - selfishly from ME. Mostly I'm thinking about me. I know - selfish. But I also enjoy the dynamic of it all here for all of us. For others too.

It's giving me great joy to come on here and feel the anticipation of the plans. I'm imagining and smiling. And a MUCH NEEDED distraction from other thoughts. Yes add my email. But it just doesn't feel the same to me. The dynamic. I know how ridiculous that sounds. I'm aware. Plus I'm lousy at finding emails and such. Meaning to reference to write back etc. Yes, my problem.

HOWEVER - and I want to make this clear. I support your decision if it's the best for you. Absolutely.

But those are my thoughts and feelings regardless on it. Food for thought on another viewpoint of how he/she is "winning" in this area - changing something. My opinion only of course.

And I know obviously I'm alone in my thoughts on here and really I shouldn't even have much of a say because they are not my plans. ;)

Done.

T-shirts. Is there any chance of getting a long sleeve athletic for me. Or is that more work? Or more money because we save in bulk? Or throws things off?

I just would look hideous in both cuts. Big limbs. And vain. Thanks for including us all. Thank you.

Thank you for all your work. And please add my email.

I got the job, I start February 7th!!!!

Ok had to get that out.. now back to catch up.

Fantastic Megan!!!!!!!!! Fantastic. SO HAPPY for you.

Rob - I forgot to say this to Cathie  too.

There are some spots on this website that are downright nasty. And full of negativity. Avoid them.

I only do DVC, Photography (in the last couple of months) here and once in awhile planning - Restaurants etc. (even though I don't plan:rotfl2:)

There is actually a new "Coping and Compassion" BECAUSE people would be hurting and get attacked on the Community Board. And some of them would say this is an internet board. But half of those people would never have the guts to say half the sh!t they say face to face. We're all different in cyber space. I'm an introvert and hardly seem that way on here.

So don't go. Just totally avoid. I do.

Regardless of that dedicated Erika - the social space and the balcony - oh the balcony :worship::worship::worship: would push me over ot OKW.

Okay, shutting up now....

Check out the size charts - and let me know your size. ASAP!

Also, if you want two, sleeveless, short sleeve...let me know! Thanks!

You are the best for doing this! I'm thinking I'll want one of each, I like options and I love purple! :rotfl: I'm going between a medium and large. I just hate it when running shirts are a bit too snug. I'll go look at the goddess shirt Erika gave me over the summer and come back with a size.

Jo- I think signing up for another half isn't crazy, after you feel the high of finishing your first one you'll want to do another one.

Am I the only one here without ties to Chicago?

I have the tiara that they sell at bibbidi bobbidi boutique, the small one. I'm always up for dressing up. If I get my act together I might even be making myself a tutu. It would be easy to stash in my bag after the race.

I'm starting to worry about the race, my running for the past month has been all over. I guess I will just work at it for the next month with the knowledge that I can do it even if I'm at a slower pace.

So yes, I got the job. They offered it to me today and I gave my notice. My last day at my current place will be January 28th and then I will start the new place February 7th. I took a week off, I'm going to go up to Vermont after work on the 28th and stay till probably Monday or maybe Tuesday. I was brought to tears after I gave my notice, I feel like I'm ripping a piece of myself out by leaving these children I'm so attached to but I know there will be more kids and I know it will be nice to work some place that follows regulations. Its just mixed feelings.

Haha! I had a few myself.

SW, so totally going through Midway. San Antonio airport has free WiFi. Go Texas!!

Yes, they do, but all the OKW 2-beds have 2 queens. Since we are booking like 6 weeks out, wasn't sure if SSR had any dedicated 2-beds left?

OKW is huge huge. Dated as hell but huge and with this many adults, like Lisa said, might be the best plan. Also, fewer cheerleaders maybe?

Oh, the cheerleaders! Forgot about them. ANYTHING to avoid them. ANY. THING.

Yes, I am sold. OKW. I will call and ask. (And right now we are in a dedicated 2-BR at SSR so at least we have that.)

I got the job, I start February 7th!!!!

Ok had to get that out.. now back to catch up.

:cool1: SO HAPPY! Congratulations, Meg! Woot! Boyfriend and job all in one week!

Regardless of that dedicated Erika - the social space and the balcony - oh the balcony :worship::worship::worship: would push me over ot OKW.

Okay, shutting up now....

Never shut up! I adore your comments far too much! And as you can see--you have totally swayed me! This is why you MUST comment on our plans. I'll let Liz handle the rest of your comments.

Meg--don't sweat the running. First, most of us are showing up undertrained. Whatever. Remember Nancy's Goddess Law.

But you know, I am betting you are going to be better than you realize because you have a BASE. At least that is what has been happening with me. I have barely been running for the past 3 months. A 3-miler here, a 4-miler there. Certainly nothing longer. And sometimes only ONE run in an entire week. Like I said, almost NOT running at all for 3-4 months. I really thought I was going to have to work UP to 3 miles when I started training. Nope. It all came right back. And I think it is because I had a 2 year base. Those two years of conditioning paid off and my body knew what to do. You have that base, too!

All that being said...I am WIPED OUT after today's 8 miler. Really took a lot out of me. Not sure if it is due to the distance...haven't done an 8 in I don't know how long. Or if it was due to the weather. Sloppy roads and chilly temps. Just being outside in the cold winter air for an hour and half can be draining--and that's without running.

2. Nancy & E breaking the rules. :rolleyes1

"breaking"? That sounds so bad. It was more like...customizing to suit our needs ;)

8 miles in the books.

WOOT! Make sure you take good care of yourself tonight. You are totally gonna feel it, I'm sure!

Finally, understanding that the word "Princess" is in the title, is that particular 1/2 marathon only for women or do some guys run in it as well?

Yes, there were some guys running. I'll share 2 different male perspectives.

first - Erika ran for a bit with a guy in a tu-tu and his shirt said something like "this dress raised $10000 for breast cancer". Apparently his friends/family/coworkers paid him big bucks to run in the tu-tu, so he did.

Second - my husband. Who also is a runner. There is no WAY you could pay him to run this race. His reasoning (and I literally am quoting him here):"Think about it. At any given time, 25% of the female population has PMS. If there are 13,000 women running this race that means I'd be surrounded by 3,300 hormonal women. No thank you!"

So yes, I got the job.

Awesome! :thumbsup2

Oh, the cheerleaders! Forgot about them. ANYTHING to avoid them. ANY. THING.

gads. I feel a mocking coming on.....

First off. EE  Thank you for always listening to me when I'm on the ledge!

Alright, so a little bit about me: I'm 31 & married (for 3 years) from Augusta, Georgia. I'm a history major @ Augusta State University and eventually plan to teach high school once all is said and done. I'm considering going all the way to get my doctorate so I can teach college one day.

I go to Disney as often as I can (about once a year) and really want to intern sometime with the Unofficial Guide folks, as I really love and respect the work that they put in.

Two things I'm deciding on right now: whether or not I can pull off a shirt with goddess on the back...lol, and what I actually think about the disboards. I love this forum and would stay here regardless, but the negativity on the main board astounds me.

Finally, understanding that the word "Princess" is in the title, is that particular 1/2 marathon only for women or do some guys run in it as well?

P.S. Any other questions you are interested in knowing, feel free to ask away...and I'm on facebook (shocking I know) under Robert McKinnon, so feel free to look me up.

Detailed enough?

A very good start! :rotfl2: Notice I said "start". So, are you in school fulltime? If not, work? Kids? What's your wife like and where did you meet? (I'm a sucker for a wedding story!) Does you weight loss make her crazy like my husband's has, in the past, made me? Like you all just drop the pounds while eating ice cream and we are cramming carrots into our mouths...sigh. God Bless men and their ability to lose!

Side note. I'm in a weight loss challenge with a bunch of people, and I can handle the women, but the men are gonna smoke me. I mean, I've got this guy who is 311 and wants to lose 90lbs...no chance there! This other one has lost like 10lbs in a week!

Anyhoo, back to quizzing Rob. You know Erika is a PH.D and prof - she is our resident academic! You should talk to her about that whole graduate thing. I like the teacher idea. Solid. Adore Unofficial Guide. I've been known to pull out those plans in the back, and get this, laminate them. In my defense I was traveling with a 2 year old and a 32 yr old, both of whom required regular Mickey icecream heads.

Team Goddess is on the FRONT, my friend! :rotfl: Can you pull that off? I think so! We could alter it slightly if you are serious about it...for reals. Why shouldn't you have one?

Oh, I will friend you on FB. And you will be sorry! :lmao:

We saw several guys last year! :goodvibes

We did! And we LOVED them. They rocked!

Yes, it would look weird.

EE--love the idea you had for formatting (because we could have DOT DOT DOT everywhere!!!) but that doesn't work either. It is going to be totally perfect as-is! I am ordering mine!

ROB--yes, men run the race! Not a lot, granted, but ALL of the men who run it get major props from all of the women. And it is awesome having you here!

And I hear what you mean about the boards. I have only a few forums on which I post. Do you listen to the podcast? You might really enjoy it. But those forums are really friendly. And I spend time on the DVC boards since I own DVC.

Love you, E. And pushing the podcast, as always. ;)

I got the job, I start February 7th!!!!

Ok had to get that out.. now back to catch up.

WOO HOO!!!! It's your year, Meg!!!!! :cool1:

I hate this Liz.

Thank you for all your work. And please add my email.

I hate it, too.

It just seems smarter. Would they come here? I don't know. Desperation does crazy things with your head. Are they winning? No, they are not. In fact, it would be them not winning. Cutting them off. Does that make sense? God, the drama. Seriously, I am doing pretty freaking good. I'm just trying to be smart and careful. Cautious. Not me, but maybe the smart and careful could be! :lmao:

YES, I will order you long sleeve. Of course. Easy peasy.

Also, I will tell you trip plans for a trip next week! On the thread! Deal?

Rob - I forgot to say this to Cathie  too.

I find people will slam me for no reason whatsoever, anywhere on this board. WISH, too. Some people are just loony.

You'll do awesome. I"m so excited for you!!!!

So two exciting things today...

I got a new Vera!!! :cool1: My BFF got me one for Christmas, with the understanding that I would take it back and get the one I really wanted...too funny. So I went down to the store today because today the new ones came out!!!:worship: It's perfect for my trip on Wednesday and perfect for Disney...just perfect. And guess what it's called??? Lizzy!!!:rotfl2:

Here is the link:
http://www.verabradley.com/product/Category/Whats-New/Lizzy/1001150/defaultColor/Lemon+Parfait/pc/638/c/0/sc/786/p/1001150.uts

I got it in Folkloric.

After that triumphant moment, I fell on my a$$. Yep. Bruised and cut hand, bruised and cut legs. Major spill. Like, cuts through my pants on my legs. And I'm going to get ripped right now for my tropical island escape. That should be fun and painful.

Did I mention the island escape? :rotfl:

There's the fb link to me.

First off, congratulations Meg!

As for school, I'm taking 10 hours this semester and I work full-time, so time gets a little crazy sometimes....(I wonder how many more times I can use time....somebody needs a bigger vocabulary lol.)

We do not have any kids yet, we are going to wait until I get my bachelor's and she finishes her Masters. We actually met online, she was living in St. Louis and we started talking on the internet, and decided to meet in KC where her sister lives. We hit it off, she moved down her a month after that to see if it would work, and then we dated for a bit, got engaged, and voila married. We spent our honeymoon and first anniversary at Disney so it's definitely our preferred choice of vacation.

As for my weight loss, nah it doesn't, but we enable each other too much, so there may be too many cookies and snacks flying around. We're trying very hard to weed all that stuff out, because with the hemochromatosis and such I'd like to get to a much healthier lifestyle in general.

Laminating the plans sounds like an awesome idea, time to take a trip to....kinkos or something like that. As for the podcasts, i listen to them on and off, really I go through spurts where i will listen to like 30 in a week and then disappear for a few weeks (kinda like I do here haha).

As for the forums, I'll just stick down here in WISHland and hang out with you gals, much happier place. I'll hold off on a Team Goddess shirt though, I'm planning to lose all this weight so the next time there is a gathering of the team, I will make sure to get a shirt hehe.

ROB--yes, men run the race! Not a lot, granted, but ALL of the men who run it get major props from all of the women. And it is awesome having you here!

I immediately thought you were talking about the wdwtoday podcasts, which is what I was talking about above, but I've never listened to the one's on here, so that might be something I start doing. It would give me something new to listen to at work that's for sure.

Yes, there were some guys running. I'll share 2 different male perspectives.

Well that is definitely two very different perspectives...My first goal is being ready to take the Disney Half next January. After that we'll see if I'm prepared for the Princess lol, I am so introverted that it might break that a little, but for now, I'll just cheer you all on in the races.

Rob do you have kids, is so, what ages, boys or girls
as you may have read I hav e2 girls 3 & 6

Ah, see, it's not only me! We like to be informed! :rotfl:

Kat, E, I only fly out of midway. It would take for ever to just to that other airport!

I am a huge Midway fan! Oh, when it was finally possible to fly there and not to O'Hare...soo nice. I try to get there once a year to see family.

Ok, being the new girls, yes please explain the pretzel dog,
Also Do I click the link and order my shirts or do I send you a check Liz?

You can order the drinking shirt right online! Easy peasy!

The pretzel dogs comes from a joke way back on vol 3 of this thread. We were laughing about how even when you try to be "good" you end up eating stuff like pretzel dogs, which are like a zillion calories. You know, Auntie Anne pretzel, hot dog, and no nutritional value. :rotfl2: So when we get...snarky...we just try to remember to be light, love, and peace and we started substituting peace with pretzel dogs! THEN Cinderella Castle started serving them at lunch and it was like Disney approved! :lmao:

I spoke to my 6 year old and she said I may borrow her crown.

Make sure you try it on. We wear ours all night! Dont be afraid to go to Claire's and get a cheap one, that you like! Bling all the way!

Today's Drama, School called, this time for Alexa, a rash all over her body. She was not like that when she left for school, so DH leaves work this time and picks her up, I then meet them at the doc. She is having a reaction to her antibiotic. Some benadryl and all will be good.

Oh, poor baby! I am allergic to penicillin and derivatives and that used to happen to me! I sympathize!

I got on the treadmill tonight 1.5 miles. This winter is kicking my butt with running, I am still going to go for 10 this weekend. I will try to do 2 miles tomorrow on the treadmill also.

Any exercise is awesome. You are doing so well with training!

EE want fannie may
everyone else want frango???

Frango! Frango! Frango! ;)

OMG I almost forgot, Liz I am so happy the shirts are purple cuz my pink running shoes I had to send back are out of stock, they are sending me a purple pair in return.

I love that they match for you!!!

Good meeting story! I know you think you chilled out the questions for a while, but just wait! Bwahahahaha! I'm like an old (insert your understood ethnic heritage) mother.

Ok, well, now I fully expect you to be in a Team Goddess shirt one day!

Hey, does your wife Dis? What does she do? What are her degrees in? Can you just send her here so we can quiz her, too? Kidding. Kind of. popcorn::

Meg - that is so awesome. Great for you! Enjoy the time off.

E - I know what you mean about the trail run feel. Picking you feet UP changes everything.

Ronda

Ronda, how are you? Sue? I loved your TM manifesto today!

Haha. I guarantee, one day I will wear a Team Goddess shirt lol. Wow, probably shouldn't leave that statement out on the internet in case I go for a high-level position someday lol.

My wife isn't much of an internet person and doesn't understand the fun of being on forums. Her bachelor's degree is in music education, but since she moved down here, there haven't been any music jobs, so she works at Barnes & Noble. She is getting her Masters in Education now.

I got a new Vera!!! :cool1:

and it's ADORABLE! Love it. :lovestruc

After that triumphant moment, I fell on my a$$. Yep. Bruised and cut hand, bruised and cut legs. Major spill. Like, cuts through my pants on my legs. And I'm going to get ripped right now for my tropical island escape. That should be fun and painful.

Ouch and OUCH! Island Escape. Isn't that the Pina Colada song? or is that just Escape....LISA! HELP!

everyone else want frango???

I have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. :confused3 But, fwiw, I'm also allergic to pennicillin. In case anyone needs to know...

Well that is definitely two very different perspectives...My first goal is being ready to take the Disney Half next January.

I did the Donald once. That was tons of fun - and not all women ;)

UGH. Falling asleep while trying to run a Seminar. Brutal. Just on a quick break. At least it beats the jumbotron!

ROB--thanks for all of the information about yourself! And yes...you will want to run from Liz on FB! :rotfl2: And as she said, I am a college professor, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Holding up pretty well after the 8 miler. I am not as fatigued as I was this afternoon. I had a lot of carbs with dinner (which I usually don't do) but they did the trick!

YAY! Hi!!! Up reading about running. Yes, crazy friend. :rotfl2: Talk tomorrow?

Anyhoo, did you see my Vera? Don't you want one? And listen, tell the truth. Is 8 miles hard for you? Because like 5 is for me. Is 8 like my 5, or like my 8?

Nancy - did you answer? Did I miss it? Gym how far?

Rob - we know Rob now. :goodvibes Nice. Good work Liz.

Liz - got it. I'm sorry this is going on - truly. But regardless hate that it's pissing me off. :goodvibes The winning was about going about things as normal - nothing more. We disagree on that but then again I didn't get the gist that it was as serious as it is. It wasn't a slight on you AT ALL- we just disagree. I know what it takes to make such decisions. I get it Liz. And like I said originally if the thought was in your head that they/he/she might show up - then scratch ALL my thoughts because I told you that makes them irrelevant. I'm sorry that I don't come across as supportive. Truly.

And yes - thanks on the long sleeve. My dollar is VERY HIGH!!!!!!! Yeah! For small miracles. I'll go back to see how you want things.

Kat - do I still get last year's shirt that you were offering earlier this year? Is it gone? Is it reclaimed?

Boy, I'm very wanting tonight. :goodvibes

Listen Megan - I'm having a hard couple of days. I'm very alone with some things. And I can't even tell you how much joy - smiling I've done thinking about your changes. Really they've made my night. Yes, I'm living through you tonight. OH WELL. :surfweb: Whatever it takes.

I GET the leaving. And the feelings. One time when I left a high school - I WROTE every single student of mine a small note. :rotfl2: I'm not even sure how I did that. ;);) I was SO torn. So incredibly torn - so I understand. You have to know that you have already given them :lovestruc and someone else will pick up your torch. They will.

Kelly - double ditto. So smiling about you being so close to goal. STILL. I can't wait. CAN NOT WAIT. Good for you!

:lovestruc to all.
