In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Nancy - I loathe the treadmill, but I bow to the weather when it ups my chances to get hurt. Slick sidewalks and obscene windchills that leave muscles cold and vulnerable are BAD. Arrive at the starting line healthy and the race is a breeze.

Kat - Dead cow place. Love the description.

Speaking of the treadmill... 10 miles Saturday and 5 this morning. Both were at work. We belong to the Y and. while it's my fallback on weekends, it's overrun with resolvers right now. There's also a 30 minute TM limit when there are people waiting. The gym at work is open Saturday mornings and I was the ONLY ONE on the TMs. The P90X ladies were there though ; ) I may join them a couple mornings for cross training. I have to do SOMETHING.

Ronda

Paula, great on the half pound!

Ladies, do you want to do any Princess plans on thread or off thread? I'm not sure how you feel about it being on the internet. :goodvibes

Also, yeah, the planner is not E! This is where our brain sharing comes in handy. :lmao:

On thread is fine with me. I have no fear of stalkers! :rotfl2:

And YES, OMG thank God we share a brain!

Ha! Yes, Kat, love the Dead Cow restaurant comment! Totally something I would say.

Ronda--rock star for doing your miles on the TM! Yes, I loathe it, too! And I avoid the gym as much as possible in January due to the resolvers. UGH!

Nice, easy 4-miler planned for today. Then we batten down the hatches for the storm we are getting tonight and tomorrow. 12" +. School will be closed for sure...the only thing that could prevent that is if the storm totally changes track and blows out to sea. But they aren't predicting that. Many events are already canceled based on the forecast alone...and that doesn't happen much in Maine! We're so used to snow that we just deal with it as opposed to canceling everything, so if people are closing before one flake has even fallen, well, I am thinking it is going to be big. Bring it.

Meg--you are going to get even more than me even though we are further north. I think our weather guy phrased it "Boston is going to be the place that hits the jackpot for this storm..." So get ready! ;)

Nancy--you're going to get clobbered, too, I assume?

Core is done. :cool1: I was slightly afraid of it. Since having J Cash, I have had this tender spot just above my belly button. Dr checked for a hernia, which thank goodness it wasn't. The muscles are just sore and overly stretched from J Cash being such a ginormous baby. The sore spot now actually feels better after the core exercises.

I have not gotten much else done today. J has been super snuggly today :goodvibes :lovestruc so we've just been hanging out this morning.

Ordered my Kindle!!! and signed up for the free amazon prime so I could get 3.99 overnight shipping!!! It will be here tomorrow!

Happy New Year and welcome back Rob! :goodvibes

So, you're looking to do your first 5k. I love it! I take it that your walking has been going well?

Yup walking is going really well, I really need to start timing it though. I am about ready to add some jogging in now that I'm only seeing the vampire doctor every two months now.

Yay to Kindles and snuggly babies!

Slammed at work. Closed tomorrow for snow!

Princess Plans - since I am kind of the crazy girl with the spreadsheet :lmao: I gotta say the thoughts of times and places online freak me out! So Jo and Meg, if you have your general plan, I can PM the details of meeting up, okay? :goodvibes

Hi everyone-I've been reading, but just lurking. Haven't had much to say lately.

I'm avoiding the scale. I'm not sure why, since I've been making good choices. But I'm still avoiding it. I think it's because right now, I am doing the best I can with what is going on, and seeing little to no change on the scale makes me feel guilty for not doing the things I can't do right now.

Work today is...meh. Boring. They outsourced some of the work that my department does, which is downright scary since we run out of work most days anyway. You can feel the tension in the office; people are worried.

School starts next week so I'm trying to enjoy this week to it's absolute fullest.

Hope everyone's having a fantastic day!

On the plus side I was down 1/2 pound at JC. I know I am bloated from restaurant food so I am happy with that.

Awesome Paula! :woohoo: One sheet at a time, right? ;) How are the muscles today? A tad sore?

I know KNOW that if I keep up this pace I am headed for another stress fracture. So if I am going to add mileage I am going to have to shift it into low gear.

Like Ronda said. The most important thing is to get to the start line healthy. Slower pacing for your long runs, faster for your short....who knows what will happen come race day! You may take off like a shot and never slow down! :goodvibes

Today I did a recovery run- I went for time not distance. I did walk 2 min./ run 4 min. intervals and felt really good! As I suspected, my running pace was a touch faster (comfortably that is) when it was in the 4 min. increments. So...not sure whether I'll end up doing W/R intervals the entire race or if I'll decide to run part then interval part? Who knows. I'll have a better idea of where I stand after I get a 9 or 10 mile run done I think.

We belong to the Y and. while it's my fallback on weekends, it's overrun with resolvers right now.

UGH! It drives me crazy when the gym is full of "resolvers" :rotfl2: Today was horrid. There tends to be a M-W-F group of "resolvers", so usually I can count on Tuesday's being pretty normal. Not today. We, like Erika, are bracing for a major snow storm. (ok, not as major as Liz had to contend with, but still 1-2 FEET of snow predicted). As a result of the weather forecast, the gym was filled with "resolvers" today. It was hot, sweaty, stinky and crowded. yay.

Core is done. :cool1:

Yay on both the core AND the snuggles :cloud9:

Good news on the walking! And the impending jogging. But...Vampire ?...does your Dr. bite you?:rotfl2:

I have my flights and all that info. I can PM you with that if you want/need. I'm really feeling guilty that I haven't thought about anything other then making it down there or run. I'm taking myself out of Erika's hands and putting myself in yours.

Amy- Welcome to the world of e-readers. I have a nook and I love it!!! In fact I'm already thinking of what books I'll put on it for the trip down to the Princess.

E- They're saying school might be canceled as early as tonight if things go how they're supposed to. I'm ready to go sledding so bring on the snow!!

Second interview went well. They said I'd know by the end of the this week, that if there wasn't a snowstorm that I'd know in the next day or two. It sounds promising though.

I've really got to get my training more on track. My runs have been not the best. Today is the day I'm going to turn it around.

Got to run, hope everyone is having a great day.

:sad1:

I know I don't really have a say.......

BUT I WANT THE PLANS ONLINE!!!

To hell with stalkers. :rotfl2: I want to stalk from here! It makes me get all excited for you.

Yes, I'm aware. Your training running times should do that - but I'm not quite sure I always understand them. :goodvibes

Hi Rob. Hi Ronda.

Megan - you're off my lake. Good girl. :worship: Hope the job - if it's the best for you - is all yours.

I have to agree with my good friend Lisa.....I NEED PLANS!!!!!

You don't have to post times and room numbers but this poor English girl needs to live the Princess through you :rotfl2:

Weigh in tomorrow, I hoping to have lost at least one of the 2lbs I gained last week!

Oh and exciting...my running shoes are going to be in stock to pick up on Monday - so I start C25K on Tuesday next week :cool1:

Hope everyone is having a great day :cool2:

Oh, my goodness. It's all this currency with the Queen on it! :lmao: I blame that!

Side note. Just told Emily she had five minutes of silence, which to her means she chats happily but not to me. OH MY WORD. :rotfl2:

I don't understand the running times, so I don't expect anyone else to!

So plans. My. We are getting on aeroplanes. We are getting off aeroplanes. Munchkins will bring us to castles.

(Ducking for the tomatoes)

Honestly, I am all caught up in this TR from a woman who lost her husband very young. It's just heartbreaking and beautiful. I'm crying and smiling at the same time.

Liz Im reading the same TR - the one by Spurk5532. Ive just started to read her blog :sad1:

Speaking of mine - I must get back to it. I feel like I'm back in university with essays sitting unfinished. You get all excited to start it - but finishing a trip report is a totally different matter.

So I'm off. BUT not without saying -

Yes, that's right Liz - the Commonwealth has spoken! :goodvibes

You'll have VERY AVID readers here cheering you all on.

Good news on the walking! And the impending jogging. But...Vampire ?...does your Dr. bite you?:rotfl2:

Lol, guess I should explain that (I can't remember if I have or not.) I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder in October called hemachromatosis, which basically means my body takes in more iron than it should. That can be dangerous because the extra iron collects in the heart, liver, and other organs and that in turn can cause severe health issues.

Anyway, it's called the "good news" disease because the way to combat it, is to give blood; however, at the beginning until they can get the iron levels down to a manageable level, they start taking a pint of blood approx. every week to 2 weeks. So by December, I was very very weak, and that's why i could only start walking. At my appt in December they decided I didn't need to come back for a month (yay.)

So I went to my appt on Friday and ended up giving a pint (almost passed out for the first time ever), but after that I don't have to go back for two months. So now I pretty much have all my energy now and can really jump right into things.

Megan - you're off my lake. Good girl. :worship: Hope the job - if it's the best for you - is all yours.

For now!!! Your lake and I might be getting close. I'm heading back up to Vermont in two weeks and the boy I'm seeing lives 30 minutes from the lake and has a house there. Do I have to teach you how to share your lake with others? :teacher:
