In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Morning!

Well, for the first time in two months...I am caught up with work! OMG, that never happens!

So now I can catch up here for a bit.

And then...Disney planning! Yeah, we leave 3 weeks from tomorrow and I have not yet made ADRs. The horror! Not too worried...I always get what I want even we planning this close in.

And today is Kelly's birthday. 8 years old! How did that happen to my baby?

Thank you all for the cold weather advice, I have a bondi band for my head, so far just cheap gloves for my hands. I have some tech long sleves and a tech jacket. I have been doing OK so far, now that all my long races are done my training runs with be done near my house, so I can always drop stuff at the house as I run past.

Bondi bands are great. They are made here in Maine and I know the owner. I bought one for each of us at the Prnicess. But I don't really recommend them for colder days to keep your ears warm. They are way better for keeping your hair out of your face than as an ear warmer. I have an UA ear warmer that is FAB. (I am being British for Kelly and to celebrate the royal wedding! :lmao:)

Hi Everyone!

This post is me trying desperately to get LisaV out of Lurkdom...

Royal Wedding!!!!!

Very excited (and not only because it gives us an extra day off work!) :lmao:

Amy - congratulations on baby Jackson - he is adorable :lovestruc

Hope everyone is having a great day - be back later with a real post! :cool2:

Yes, the news is all abuzz here. And I am with Ronda and Nancy...thanks but no thanks on that ring.

And I love it when we have British days!

LISA...Oh LISA....come out, come out wherever you are!

Happy Birthday Kelly!!

Funny how we are all so different. I find my bondi band to be great as an ear warmer. Anything heavier and I feel like Nancy with the nothing-touches-my-head issue.

I got lucky in that I bought some long sleeved tech tees and tights back in 2003 when I picked up hockey, before realizing that wearing that under your gear is akin to setting yourself on fire.

Oh man, I can't imagine wearing that much under your hockey equipment! That'd be a good way to sweat away some pounds.

Cathie- I love art museums, really I love museums of any kind. The MFA in Boston has a good collection of Egyptian art including a number of well preserved mummies. I'm taking a half day to go see Harry Potter on Friday! You'll have to let me know what you think about it when you see it.

Kelly- I love that there is a possibility of having a day off because of the wedding. I've been meaning to tell you that BBC America has been playing ads for Law and Order UK and they make me laugh. They almost seem like a parody.

E- Happy birthday to Kelly! I got so many compliments on my goddess shirt at my half last weekend. I was thinking about you.

So I was a bit bummed about being so sick for my half and today I decided the only thing to do about it was... sign up for Thanksgiving Day morning 5k. I'm really starting to feel better so I'm looking forward to a positive race experience.

Oh and I have to share how adorable my mother is. For my birthday she got me a pair of fuzzy socks to wear after running. She got me these socks. Which I immediately put on. But I loved how she thought that out, she also got me a watch to run with. So great.

I know!! It was hardly worn, so great for winter/fall running.

However, I just left the sports med doc. I do indeed have a stress fracture of the left tibia, and will be wearing an air cast for 6 weeks. Based on my symptoms and the x-ray, she confirmed that I likely have been struggling with this all fall.

No running allowed at all until I go back in 6 weeks, although she said I can bike and swim and can go back to hockey in 2-3 weeks.

CALLING DVC LADIES!!!

Is there any point in pursuing a five night stay at AVK, 2BR arriving Sunday, March 20, as a points rental?

I know DIS has a sponsoring point renter, but I don't want to go there just yet.

Ronda

I'm here... JC went as expected. I was up a little bit (about a pound and a half) thanks to a big splurge on Saturday night when I ended up at a very high end restaurant (think the Yachtsmen steakhouse or Narcoosies... the cheapest cut of steak was a filet for $45 and that is just for the meat, sides are extra) where nothing is cooked without lots of carbs and fat. The polenta I had tasted like pure butter. I had four forkfuls and that was that. No good could have come from eating any more. The dinner was amazing! I splurged, I enjoyed it, I owned it and now I am moving on. I do need to drink more water though. I am seriously behind in that dept thus the salt in my body currently.

I did go to the gym after my appointment. Got a good butt kicking from Jesse and then logged in 10 miles on the spin bike with some intervals. It felt good to get back on the bike again.

Sounds like everyone is doing well here tonight...

Paula-can I just say that you amaze me. I love the way you own things. You should write a book. And call it, "How to think like Paula" and I'll be the first to read it. Because seriously...goddess.

LISA...Oh LISA....come out, come out wherever you are!

Kids grow up sooo fast. I don't have any of my own, but it's scary to think that Carlos and I have been dating nearly 8 years and his oldest neice is a teenager now. A TEENAGER! She'll be 14 in May. When we started dating she was in kindergarten. WOW.

And yeah...I dunno. The ring is beautiful. I love the idea of using an heirloom for an engagement ring. But I think I'd still want one of my own to represent MY marriage, one that didn't come from a failed marriage.

Oh man, I can't imagine wearing that much under your hockey equipment! That'd be a good way to sweat away some pounds.

That would be so awesome!! I love seeing the mummies. And I love museums too. Quite a few years back an Egyptian exhibition came to the museum of nature and science here and had a few mummies...I was mesmerized. I'm praying for the day they bring another one in! And I will definitley let you know on HP...we just finally watched the 6th movie, which I had not seen yet...and wow. I'm so excited for the next one. I've gotten Carlos hooked (totally against his will, mind you lol) and he's excited now too :woohoo:

Kelly- I love that there is a possibility of having a day off because of the wedding. I've been meaning to tell you that BBC America has been playing ads for Law and Order UK and they make me laugh. They almost seem like a parody.

That sucks you can't run, but at least you're not banned from all, and 6 weeks will go by quickly :) I hope you heal fast, sending lots of good thoughts your way. :goodvibes

So my company (being all about health and whatnot) had a health fair today, and against my own reluctance, I decided to schedule my own appointment. I was actually pleasantly surprised for the most part. I'm down to 247 lbs, and that's AFTER having eaten for the day...I thought I was going to cry standing there because I have tried for SO LONG to get under 250. I know I still have a long ways to go, but after getting below 260, I just couldn't seem to get down to 250 before falling off the wagon again. The diet changes I'm making are working!!!!!!!! :yay:

THe other part...was a real kick in the you know what. My BMI, they listed it as 'extreme obesity'. It's not something I haven't heard before, and not that big of a shock, but seeing it there on paper is so depressing. It's just so much more motivation to keep up the diet changes I've made and the little bit of exercise I've been able to do, and amp it up once my body is back to normal. I think I'm going to hang it on my cubicle wall as a reminder.

Sorry to be long winded....just thought this was the best place to share :goodvibes

Royal Wedding!!!!!

:rotfl2:

Oh Mother Country Kelly! Says lowly commonwealth Lisa. :lmao:

Love to all!

Erika - ADORED the update on the kids. Adored. I SO ADORED how you used the kids without any guilt. Laughing.

Look, I'm just spent. That's all. Mom went to see the surgeon to finally get her surgery booked about a month ago and he is now hesitating. He said like I had thought quietly in my mind, "Is is right to do this to save her life IF I'm gong to/it will probably advance her dementia?" (This happens through some/most:confused3 major surgeries for people who are struggling in this area)

So he's sending her for more CTs. :confused3. I'm sure that is him trying to see how advanced her head issues are.

So it's a very uncomfortable feeling trying to balance she simply won't live more than a year or two (I would think) without the open heart surgery (but who knows - she's a powerhouse) with it probably will advance what's going on.

And Nathan has NOT been released for surgery. He was released then held back b/c he was over a year for some testings and had to be retested. I will be a year soon (January). I've actually stopped asking b/c I do all the asking and my head hurts.

SPENT. Nothing in me to give. Besides a body part that is. :rotfl2:

AND I'm in my own space regarding weight, food, letting go blah blah. A lovely space for me. I was always the odd man out here before. But without going into too much I'm REALLY the odd man out now. And I'm afraid I won't be able to SHUT MY MOUTH.

So don't entice me back on - you will regret it. :rotfl2::goodvibes:love:

Will always BE here. And love  to all.

Nancy -

Your love is like a tidal wave
Spinning over my head
Drowning me in your promises
Better left unsaid
You're the right kind of sinner
To release my inner fantasy
The invincible winner
And you know that you were born to please

No it's not a love letter to Nancy. :lmao: Nancy, game play - it's SO ON.....finish the next line and DON'T cheat online.

Nancy, I think we were in grade six OR sixth grade to you Yankee. And she ruled my world. I even cut my hair like her.

Nancy or anyone?

I am glad you are in a lovely space for you when it comes to weight and food.

As to the rest, I have no advice, just :hug:s.

Sitting on my hands. I know this one. Powerful pipes and a great role model for a high school freshman.

You're a heartbreaker.
Dream maker. Love taker,
Don't you mess around with me!

(something more in there. before? after? gah. No cheating.:headache: :rotfl2:)

more to say later...

HI All,

Happy Birthday to E's Kelly and to Meg!!!!:bday:

Kat, Hope 6 weeks is all it takes

Hi Lisa :grouphug:

Very Yucky day at work today, Boss is just nasty, I think they are going to take my work at home day away. Cross your fingers for me that the don't:sad1::sad1::sad1:

More to say tomorrow

Oh my goodness yes! Happy Birthday Meg & lil Kel! :goodvibes

With any luck, another goodess will share your birthday. My friend Nat's water broke at 7:30 this morning. She's all drugged up right now - pit & epi all in place, but no baby yet! :headache: She's gonna be stubborn, just like her momma :rotfl2:

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if the British population were as fixated on a Royal Wedding as we here in the U.S. seem to be. This morning the Today Show started with "BREAKING NEWS". Their lead story? William and Kate. For a country that fought so hard to be liberated from her "mother" we Americans apparently are still having a hard time letting go

Yes, everyone is as fixated here! All of the tv channels and newspapers have been carrying various stories. Its all nice now, but I give it a week or two before the claws come out in the media!

"bank holiday". Is that what they call random days off? :confused3

Yes! The main bank holidays are Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, May Spring Bank, August Bank Holiday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day - so called because the banks are closed! Any other 'random' days off - such as the royal wedding, the diamond jubilee etc - are just called bank holidays too!

(How weird...as I was typing that the news at 10pm came on and the headline was 'How the royal wedding could mean a bank holiday for everyone!' :lmao:)

I splurged, I enjoyed it, I owned it and now I am moving on. I do need to drink more water though. I am seriously behind in that dept thus the salt in my body currently.

Great attitude Paula :thumbsup2

I have an UA ear warmer that is FAB. (I am being British for Kelly and to celebrate the royal wedding! :lmao:)

LISA...Oh LISA....come out, come out wherever you are!

Happy Birthday Kelly! I hope you all had a great day :lovestruc

I enjoy British days too! :rotfl:

Kelly- I love that there is a possibility of having a day off because of the wedding. I've been meaning to tell you that BBC America has been playing ads for Law and Order UK and they make me laugh. They almost seem like a parody.

I have to say, I am a HUGE Law and Order fan - I watch them all! Law and Order, Criminal Intent, Special Victims Unit, love them! I was very excited when they decided to do a Law and Order UK, watched all the episodes and they are...ok, but not awesome. They are very much a parody - I always find it odd when they do the 'Dum dum' noise, British TV programs don't normally have anything like that! :lmao: I just dont think its as good as the originals but it is watchable, if you can understand the accents when they start talking in slang and really fast! :rotfl2:

However, I just left the sports med doc. I do indeed have a stress fracture of the left tibia, and will be wearing an air cast for 6 weeks. Based on my symptoms and the x-ray, she confirmed that I likely have been struggling with this all fall.

No running allowed at all until I go back in 6 weeks, although she said I can bike and swim and can go back to hockey in 2-3 weeks.

Ouch Kat!

Oh Mother Country Kelly! Says lowly commonwealth Lisa. :lmao:

LISA!!
I knew I could get you to come out and play!
 for everything you are going through.

And, don't think I'll EVER regret getting you to post - in fact my motto when it comes to getting you to post is 'By any means necessary' :rotfl2:

I had my weigh in yesterday - down 3lbs! I went through my tracker with my leader and im not eating all of my points, so I need to bulk my meals up - I already feel like all I do is eat! Its as simple as having a cereal bar or a biscuit to use the last few points so thats do-able!

Hope everyone is having a great day! :cool2:

What a crazy couple of days here... Nothing bad - just busy.

Kat - yuck on the stress fracture. Take care of yourself.

E - happy birthday Kelly! Yeah fir being caught up. How are you at evaluating contractor work plans? I'll send some your way if you are looking for something to do lol!

Lisa - please don't hide... Hugs for all that you are dealing with.

Kelly - bank holiday for the weddings... Love it!

Cathie - look at you go with the loss. Statistics can be sobering sometimes. I so get that.

Meg - if your body us telling you to rest than listen to it. We don't want you injured for the princess.

Jo - I'll lend you my angry eyes if they still want to rake your work at home day away.

Ronda - I have no clue about the point rental question. Wish I could help.

A woman I work with is planning on going to Disney in the spring with her family. I asked if she had made any dining reservations yet and she said no we are just going to go to a few buffets so we will be fine. I sat her down and told her what would likely happen if she tried that and her jaw dropped. Talk about clueless. This is a woman who while walking into world showcase would ask what is world showcase? Um.... I hope I sent her on the right path but she keeps showing up to my site in sands and wonders why I won't let her out of the office and into the work area. Um wear something that will protect your feet from getting cut and I will let you out there. Sighing....

Meg - if your body us telling you to rest than listen to it. We don't want you injured for the princess.

How well timed this was. I stayed home from hockey tonight because I've had a horrible cold for two days now. I keep forgetting that my immune system is a little off due to the infection I have so while I am not in pain any more I'm still not operating at 100%. I find I have a hard time slowing down when I need to. I don't just mean with the workouts either, I'm the type to keep myself busy with a million different things when I probably should just be sitting on the couch resting.

I'm going to try to take it easy this weekend and hopefully that will help me get healthy. I'm going to go to bed soon which is very early for me.

Oh tomorrow is Friday and.... HARRY POTTER PREMIERE DAY!!! Yay! Oh how I love me some wizards!

So don't entice me back on - you will regret it. :rotfl2::goodvibes:love:

Will always BE here. And love  to all.

I think we all agree that we will never regret enticing you back on. I'm sending you lots of hugs and love.

I also wanted to share with you (and anyone else who cares to read more of my rambling) that I thought of you last night. I'll try to keep my reason why as brief as possible.

My mother and I went to this singer named Ronan Tynan, he was a member of the Irish Tenors and now sings solo. (Amazing voice, so talented.) We went to a really small event where he sang and talked about his life. Why would he talk about his life? Well.... he has no legs from the knees down and let me tell you, he has done some amazing things. He was a horse jockey, he won medals and set records in the paralympics, he became a doctor then a world famous singer.

I originally thought of you because of how you have said at least we have legs. But after when I thought about it I realized his positive attitude reminded me a lot of how you view things. I don't know I'm rambling and it's late and I'm tired so I'm probably not making any sense.

hey all,

just a quick pop in for me

Paula, I had to laugh at your co worker for both her shoe choice and her lack of Disney Ressies. As If!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Meg, Rest Rest Rest

Kelly, I thought of you while checking out at Walgreens (its a drug store)
they had right there at the check out for $16.99 GLEE The Christmas CD :)

Guys! :lovestruc

I'm not hiding. I'm just in one way - negatively - I don't have anything in the fuel tank to post at all. So just don't have it in me. And positively - for me - I'm off the charts in the other direction of this thread - good for me - bad for you -even more than I ever was - so when I said you would all regret enticing me - I REALLY MEANT THAT :rotfl2: - it wasn't manipulative - I really meant it. I won't be able to keep my mouth shut. And honestly, I don't think that's good for you all. I don't think you need someone here saying "PEOPLE!!!" every two seconds even if I had the energy and honestly I would begin to feel patronizing.

Thanks for all the love. :lovestruc Everyone.

Ronda - you could have jumped in. Really. No one like Ms. Benetar. I just said Nancy b/c she loves her songs. That song was 1979 - so Nancy I could have been in grade seven and you being OLDER than me :rotfl2:- I just remembered your advanced age :lmao:;) could have been eighth grade. Or six and seven. Too funny. She so seems like yesterday to me. I used to play Hell is for Children over and over one year. :3dglasses. I loved her and Chrissie Hynde. How I loved records and her.

OMG. 1979. Was everyone born? NO. No, some of the youngins. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: OMG. :rotfl2:

Megan - loved your story. Thank you - sweet. I used to love the legs ramble when I was so dramatic when working out whining about reps. Internally of course - I'm pretty focused when on task.

I also forgot - the house is finally up for sale. Privately - so I'm working as an agent these days. ;). We almost sold within days. If we don't sell soon - it will be spring b/c RE really does a nose dive around the holidays and January. And this house needs a specific buyer. It's really not cookie cutter. The last picture is my bedroom - but my cover was the wash so it's not ugly like that. It's beautiful - it's just that I had to have the picture that day. Actually the place lloks better in person.

See how I don't have it in me. I've talked about me, me and let's see me. ;) I said nada about other's lives. So see.

Love to all. :lovestruc

And guess what Ms. 1966?

My post back here was #1967? Wild, eh? :goodvibes That's wild. Oh no, were some of them born in the eighties? Oh no.
