In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

The general consensus is that the compact has less repetitive gears than the granny.

ah yes. Redundancy in the gear ratios. I know all about that  I think any new gearing system takes time to learn. Heck. I've had my bike for 3 summers now and I'm finally used to it! (slow learner. I know)

Nancy, hows it going, slowing down at all? Everything all worked out with the car?

Nope. Not slowing down. And nope. Not even close on the car. I've gotten over the whole "gratitude that no one was injured" thing and moved onto completely pissed at the ripple-effect of inconvenience this guy has caused. Yes, it was an "accident" but it was due to his complete idiocy. And, I'm afraid his testosterone-filled-stunt-car-driver-attempt is going to cost me a lot more money than I was ready to spend at this point.

Meg - good luck with the gym shopping. Hopefully a change of pace & scenery will be just what you need to ditch the funk!

Well, my October roll of semi-decent luck has come to an end.

I missed my darn (irriitating, paper only) water bill last month because of all the travel, but scheduled it last week and it went through on 10/5 (or so says my bank acct online bill pay anyhow) Yet somehow someone came to my house today, no call no notice, and turned off my water. It is 5:30 and I can't call until tomorrow AM. ARGH!!!! I have very, very un-DIS language to say about all this.

Trinity went to the vet today for a checkup from last week's mess, and her kidney numbers are high again. So, massive vet bill later, I get to give her daily antibiotics and subQ fliuids for the rest of her life.

I have a run scheduled with my friend tonight but can't shower, brush teeth, wash face, nothing. And no way to do anything about it until tomorrow AM. Can I even express how FURIOUS I am about this????

ugh Kat!

I just told Stephen that I felt like I was at the intersection of Suckfest and Crapville. Looks like we are currently standing on the same corner.:headache:

Kat - that is totally unacceptable! I would offer you my shower, but it would take you all night to get here. Good luck giving them crap tomorrow.

Nancy - ugh on the whole car thing. So not what you want to be dealing with right now. Big weekend coming up though. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Not much going on with me right now. Just updating my ipod and then off to hold the couch down. God I love rest weeks... They are so few and far between, but totally appreciated once they get here. Now if only Jesse would get on board with the rest week. My bumm is killing me from the dead lifts and lunges he made me do yesterday. Sigh... (missing you Lisa)

Let me just say, Paula WOW, 85 miles then lung and leg work outs.. WOW, just WOW!!!

Nancy & Kat, hope you get out of suckville soon.
Kat I almost had the same thing, but they sent a notice, I sent my bill to pay on line, but with mail time they did not get it, it was 2 days late and they was a letter saying shut off in 2 more days. I called and gave them the He!!

Nancy, so sorry about that car.. But is the EVENT this weekend? The one with the OUTFIT??????? Can't wait to hear!

I have a headach, off to the sofa for me and my girls!!

Wow, where is everyone today?

I sent for my stress test today, and so far the have found no issues.
YAY!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi Everyone

Jo - Well done on the 8 miles! Hope your knee is ok

Well its been a busy few days around here! Ive got a chest infection which is just lovely.

BIL and his girlfriend had the baby on Saturday morning! Jacob - 9lb 2oz!! There were some complications with the birth, the cord got twisted around Jacobs neck so they had to do an emergency caesarean but thankly both mother and baby are doing well! DH is going to the hospital this afternoon to visit, I can't go because of the chest infection :sad1:
As soon as it clears up though I will be able to visit!

So thats been about my weekend! BIL sent me a picture by text, and DH is going to take some pictures at the hospital!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :upsidedow

Kelly, sorry your sick.. hope you get better fast

I am glad the baby and mom are doing fine. but what is going to happen with her husband?? Does he know that he's not the dad???

Hi Paula.
How are you doing?

Jo - I am doing alright. I am trying to not let myself fall into the post event free fall that I was in after the Princess half. I really didn't know what to do with myself after that and it took months to get back under control. My big goal now is not an event but to start losing weight again. Just need to dig deep for the motivation to keep going.

I spent yesterday at the local wedding reception for my friend who got married in Vegas. Had a great time at the pug roast. I live spending time with him and his family and the mire time I spend with her and her family the mire I love them! Looking forward to a quiet week ahead. I am hoping to get out on my bike a few mire times before it gets too cold and I am forced indoors (boo). What I really want to do on Saturday is sleep in! Haven't been able to do that all summer!

How are you doing? Are your knees still bothering you?

Kelly - hope you feel better soon!

I am glad the baby and mom are doing fine. but what is going to happen with her husband?? Does he know that he's not the dad???

This is where I find it VERY odd - as far as I am aware, and the last time it was mentioned, the husband didn't even know she was pregnant! I find this odd because BIL and the girlfriend live in the same house she lived in with the husband, and he has family and friends in the area - surely someone has seen her in the last 9 months!

What I do not want to happen is that now the baby has been born I don't want it to turn into some Jerry Springer style massacre with DNA tests and two people claiming to be the dad!

Its a sad situation really - the baby is beautiful and is so loved already, BIL and his girlfriend are a lovely couple and are genuinely happy together - all of this could have been avoided if they had both been honest from the start!

Who knows - I'll update you! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great day - I still feel a little blah but hopefully it will clear soon.

And - Im starting back at WW next week. For reals. I was originally starting this week but there is only one meeting near me and it is Wednesday night which is when me and DH are going up to BIL's to get things ready for mum and baby to come home from the hospital, so next week it is. I need the weekly humiliation of getting weighed in public and paying for the privilege! I WILL get this last 11lbs off (you may notice that the weight has gone up again.....)

Hi - my name is Paula and I have been eating way too much lately!!!!! JC was eye opening tonight - I was up 1.5 pounds but that is what happens when you eat with reckless abandon and stop working out for a week. As I throw away the empty reese's peanut butter cup wrappers (oh how I hate Halloween season) it is time for me to get my game face on and make losing weight a priority again. There are no events to train for, no major distractions, in shirt - no excuses! So who is with me?

Jo - I am doing alright. I am trying to not let myself fall into the post event free fall that I was in after the Princess half. I really didn't know what to do with myself after that and it took months to get back under control. My big goal now is not an event but to start losing weight again. Just need to dig deep for the motivation to keep going.

I struggled after my half in June to do even a mile. Not because I physically couldn't but just because mentally I'd checked out of the whole running thing. I have a half in June and as much as I'm preparing for it physically I think I'm also preparing myself mentally not to fall into that post even let down. For me I think it'll help that I'll essentially be jumping right into princess training. But don't get too hard on yourself if you do have a little free fall, you'll pull out of it eventually.

Kelly- That's quite the situation. I hope things work out with the least amount of drama involved.

And I couldn't help but laugh about your WW comment... paying for the humiliation of being weighed in public. You know I've never done WW and so I've never really thought about that aspect of things.

Jo- We texted a bit but how was your weekend?

Nancy- How was the weekend? I really want to hear all about it!

Kat- I might need your advice in about a week over what weather is like in North Carolina this time of year. Just a little less then two weeks and I'm headed to Charlotte for a wedding.

I've had a busy, busy, busy long weekend. Today I ran the Tufts 10k for Women that was held in downtown Boston. They said something like 8,000 people ran and almost all were women. It was a huge event and I was there walking around/running the race from about 9:45am to about 2:30pm. I'm just exhausted but tomorrow I'll share a little bit about this race because it is an amazing race to run.

Oh and I have my foot wrapped, I have a nasty blister in the exact same place that I had one after my half in June. Time to really go on the hunt for good socks and good padding for my bunion which seems to play a role in me getting the blister. I'll also be purchasing body glide to use on the area. Oh well.

Kelly, OMG on the baby mamma dram!!:lmao:
Hope it all works out well. Oh and yes pay my cold hard cash to have someone tell me in public YOU EAT TOO MUCH!! Been there done that :rotfl2:

Paula, 1.5 lb, you can shake that in a few days. Don't get down, you have had a very emotion month. After all of that you are up 1.5. Not too bad.
I hope you get your bike rides in before it gets cold.

Nancy, The Event!!! how was the event??

Meg, my weekend was good, let are feeling better, just in time for speed training tomorrow.

Kat, EE, E, Ronda, Lisa. Hope you are all well

If I could only not eat sugar, I would be so thin...Yes I ate junk for snacks today.

DH is right now trading in his car and getting us a new mini van. I am not that happy abuot the price so I said I would stay home with the girls. He has been there 3 hours. OMG. What on earth takes so long

Meg - can't wait to hear about the race! Thanks for the post event pick me up. I needed to hear that.

Jo - you are always there with words of encouragement. The 1.5 doesn't bother me as much as finding the motivation to keep going for the sake of keeping going does concern me. I'll get there one way or another.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Busy day for me. Work then babysitting then right to hockey.

I want to be a lesson to everyone to treat your feet right! Any race over five miles and my right foot is blister city. Someone told me it's probably my bunion causing it and I should use body glide on it. So tomorrow I will be shopping for more socks to run in and some body glide. Today I bought blister band aids.

This is totally preventable people, love your feet. haha

Race report is coming tomorrow, promise!

Hi Everyone! :wave2: Remember me? :rolleyes1 I had a fabulous weekend and am slowly re-introducing myself to society  Here is the super-condensed version of what's up with me:

1) my weekend was ah-mazing.

2) my car was declared a total loss, so I'm currently shopping for a new one

3) I'm getting sick. Or at least, sick for me. I rarely get sick. I need to remind my body of that fact

I'm off to the gym, then work, then Nate's x-country meet. I'll be back later tonight to fill in some of the details of my life!

HI Nancy,
Glad you had a great weekend
Sorry about the car. But getting a new car is great!!
I love my new mini van!!!
