In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Thank you Kat,
I so need a running club/group. I could use the help.
From reading your posts it sounds like it will be fun and help me make it to the end of that 1/2 (without having to inchworm):lmao:

It is seriously one of the best things I have ever done. I can't even express how much better it has made running for me.

They even have me considering a full.

Real post tonight, but this weekend is friends and family discount at Shoe Carnival. Just in case you have one in your area. Just tell the cashier that you want the discount.

Hi Everyone!

Breakfast does rock Kat. We have upside down nights frequently. Paula - I just throw things together most of the time, but keep notes just in case.

I often do upside down nights! Sometimes I really don't want breakfast food in the morning!

The scale was quite nice to me this morning. 174.6. So, that is 4 lbs down from two weeks ago, and, umm, like 8-9 down from last week's disaster of a weigh in. Total loss of 43.2.

I went through the "thin" drawer in my 2nd bedroom yesterday, and rescued some 12s that now fit (some don't... I appear to be between 12 and 14 right now?). I am wearing one pair of them, and I was told I am looking "thin" by the only other woman around here which made me feel good.

Awesome on the loss Kat! And even more awesome on the compliment! :cool1:

I just have to post this.

I called on that running club from the park dist. and get this $35.00 from Aug-Jan, I get to use their gym, they have lap pool, indoor track and everything else, and the best part, is they have child care. $1.50 per kid.
So even if DH works and its a long run I can go!!!!! I am so unbelievably happy!!!!!

information meeting Aug 2, I can't wait!!!

Sorry to interrupt you programming, I just could not help myself!

:cool1: Excellent Jo, very excited for you!

Ok. I am back ON. I mean so ON you wouldn't believe it. Me and my mum are on it together, we've both put on nearly a stone and we are feeling it!

So Im calling in the big guns - thats right, I need the whistle! Feel free to use the whistle on me at any time when you think im slacking :lmao:

Weigh in is Monday. We got our starting weights tonight and I have 14lbs to lose. Ive put all the weight on in one area which is new! When I first did weight watchers (when I was 21) the weight was kind of evenly distributed so even at my heaviest clothes fit better than they do now. Because ive put the weight on my bottom half (pear shape!) my clothes just don't fit as well. I suppose thats what happens when you get older!

The plan is:

Track EVERYTHING I eat. Good, bad and ugly.
Water water water. I started off so well with the water and its kind of tailed off. So back to at least 1.5 litres a day.
Exercise - 30 minutes a day. Thats not a huge amount I know but its a start.

So thats it. I WILL hit my target whether it takes months, weeks or years.

Hope everyone is having a great day :cool2:

Kelly, Umm I don't see the 14lbs you have to loose. But the key is to track, good or bad, LORD know I got the bad :rotfl:

Kat, By reading your post, I thought you would do a full. I know you will so rock a full.

Chicago Oct 2011!!!!

I have more info on the run club Kat, please tell me if its worth it.

They meet Tuesday's for speed training, Wednesday for fun run or workout or seminar then Saturday for long run.

One week I can do Tuesday and Saturday (but I will miss Alexa's soccer game) I hope I am not a bad mom for that

The nex week I can go only on Wednesday

Thats how it will work out with DH's work schedule and Alexa has soccer practice 2x a week also.

So only going to the long runs every other week. Do you think I will still get alot out of it.
Its $35.00 for Aug -Jan 31
And I was wrong I don't get a to use their gym, I would have to sign up for that, and its major $$$$$

No way... if I do a full it will either be Disney or OBX.

I think it is totally worth it.

If it makes you feel better, my signup fee was $159 for May 31 - Dec 5th, and only includes the weekly long run (no childcare, not that it matters for me).

What does their schedule look like? Do they have pace group leaders? Do you have a link?

Hi Team!

My meeting wrapped up early so I am sitting in StRbucks while I wait fot JC appointment. God I love playing hooky!

Jo - join the running group! I repeat - join the running group!
They will push you harder than you will push yourself, pleasetrust me on this. Also, you need to carve some time out of life for yourself. It is for your own sanity. Just because you have children doesn't mean you have to give up your identity completely. I know this sounds harsh, but I have watched to many of my girlfriends lose themselves to being a mother. It is hard to balance nut you can do it! (of course this us being said by the one with no kids, but that doesn't mean that I am wrong). :). You are worth the investment in yourself! Yup, it's true. Say it with me: I am worth it!

Kat - whoo hoo on the loss! You are going to fade away to nothing soon. Enjoy maintenance!

Kelly - welcome back on the wagon. We may lean over the edge from time to time but we won't let you fall off.

Nancy - how is the painting going? Making progress I hope. I made a painter on my site if you are interested. There is a free workout included in the form of 220 stairs to get to the work level. Just a thought - lol...

EE - looking forward to your post later.

Hi to everyone else including Laurie. I'll check in once I get home from the gym later.

I didn't realize this was on national news. I can't imagine what the girls family and friends are going through. Abby is a student at U of E where I attend. Just a few years ago, 2 Ball State students had their identities mistaken after a horrible accident. I posted this on the thread on the Unplugged board too (it's a prayers/pixie dust thread). Here is the skinny from our daily 411 email, AceNotes:

University of Evansville soccer player Abby Guerra is alive.

One week ago today officials in Arizona reported that the 19-year-old starter for the Lady Aces soccer team had been killed in an automobile accident while en route home to Arizona from a trip to Disneyland with 4 friends. We have confirmed that Abby did not die in the accident, that somehow she was mistakenly identified as the person who died at the scene. Yesterday, Abby parents learned that a young woman lying in a hospital bed in Arizona was in fact their daughter and the parents of the other girl learned that the daughter they thought was hospitalized was in fact deceased.

We do not have any information as to why or how this tragic mix-up occurred. That is for the officials and the hospital to communicate. What we can tell you is that our head coach, Krista McKendree received a phone call yesterday afternoon from a parent of one of Abby's teammates. That family had traveled early to Arizona to be with Abby's family because they were not able to stay for Monday's planned funeral due to a previous commitment. After they arrived and were headed to the Guerras' house, they called and were told by an aunt what appeared to be unfolding and were told to go to the hospital instead. They were actually with both girls' families when they were given confirmation that Abby was the hospitalized girl. That parent told us today that Abby was positively identified by a fingerprint record provided by the family.

Most of Abby's teammates, along with all three coaches, and a senior Athletics administrator have arrived in Arizona as previously planned because they were to attend the funeral tomorrow. Now they are there to support Abby, her family, and one another. As you can imagine, this continues to be a very emotional rollercoaster for everyone involved. Throughout the week, University of Evansville's chaplain and counselors have assisted both players and coaches, including in these hours since they received the startling news about the turn of events. Again, I want to reiterate that information regarding Abby's condition and the details following the accident will have to come from the hospital and officials in Arizona. We can tell you that Abby did undergo surgery last night and that her condition has been critical all week. Certainly she, her family, and our girls and staff appreciate all the care and concern so many people have expressed this past week and we encourage you to continue those prayers and support as they are needed just as much now as ever. We at the University of Evansville are all remembering that this is still very much a tragedy as Abby fights for life, two of her friends – one of whom was identified as being her – have died as the result of the accident.

Paula, I am so joining it. You are so right, I need to do stuff for myself!!!!
That is why I am going to the princess without my family
(I will buy the girls tons of gifts to bring them back):rotfl:

Kat, I don't know the pace info yet, I have to wait til the meeting on Monday, I will PM you the link

So I ran today I did the first day of M4M run/walk 1/2 training plan.
Run 3 walk 2 7 times. So in 35 mins I did 2.4 miles. I am so so so slow.
It is frustration and I do think twice that I may get picked off the course.
I again, I wont know unless I try. I just can not take any pictures or stop to pee. Pull Up anyone :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Awesome loss Kat! Glad you are doing so well with the running club.

How is your painting project going Nancy?

Paula, I love playing hookie at Starbucks. :rolleyes1

Jo, rock on with the running club and woo hoo on the W.I.S.H. shirt. I still haven't bought one yet.

Kelly, you look fabulous, but I'm happy to hear you are back on the wagon.

Crazy Monday. Classes are over for me until 8/23! Yay!! We just have a group project to finish before next May (we are aiming for end of August). I have been in contact with some U of E employees who say campus is crawling with reporters and others. I can't imagine what everybody is going through.

I had to really dress up at work today and was very concerned that my calf would hurt (heels & stitches), but I was ok until the last 30 mins or so. I also took my shoes off as often as I could today. :lmao: I can't wait til these things are out! Driving me crazy. I don't hurt, but I am keeping on my ibuprofen regimen. I'm watching Cake Boss and chilling with an ice pack.

Hi everyone,

EE - hugs to that family. How awful for them. Ugh - heels. Love them but hate wearing them.

Jo - you realize that if you maintained that pace you would be ahead of the 16 minute pace. Just sayin'. Oh and you will need to stop to pee (it doesn't take that long) and you must take a picture or two.

Down 3.3 pounds this week at JC. Now I just need to do that again to create a pattern. Lol...

Have a great night everyone!

Jo - you will be fine. I was pulled aside by the medics and still ended up finishing. I jog/walked most of it and REGRET that I didn't stop for pics. I don't plan on having a run in with the medics this go around, but I will visit any of the character stops that I want (yeah, it killed me walking past Tink).

Paula - yay on the loss!!!

:worship:Way to go Paula, thats a big loss!!!:worship:

( have ya noticed I don't post about the weight loss. Ummm there is none to post):rolleyes1

Thanks for letting me know about taking pictures, My girls would love to see me with Cindy, and Snow While. Do you carry a camera on you while you run??? My camera is kinda bigger, I don't think I would want that with me for 13.1, would a one time use camera be ok, or just my phone???

I know its 7 months away, just I am so excited. I am so going to do this!!!!

Is 30 mins of grass cutting Cross Training?????

EE, that's awful.

Paula!!! AWESOME on the loss!!

Kelly, welcome back to the wagon. :)

Jo, you will be fine. I started out training in Jan for a Mar race and could barely do 2 miles at an 18-20 min mile, and that was in cool temps on the treadmill. You have months to train.

Also, that fear will motivate you in training, or at least it sure motivated me!!

I think you should go to the meeting for the run club and get more information. Usually they will let you try once before buying, or at least mine did.

Food for today:
B: 2 tbsp smoked salmon spread (40), bagel thin (110)
L: turkey wrap (110), salad (50)
S: apple (60), kashi (70)
D: Pork tenderloin (300), red potatoes (100)

Total, 840. I was going to eat more but no appetite.
Water, 64 oz
Exercise, 15 min on elliptical and 1 hr pilates

So Im calling in the big guns - thats right, I need the whistle! Feel free to use the whistle on me at any time when you think im slacking :lmao:

Did somebody say "whistle"? :confused3

yes, yes, yes!!!!! Spot on Paula!

I didn't realize this was on national news. I can't imagine what the girls family and friends are going through.

I saw that yesterday. I can't even imagine.

Down 3.3 pounds this week at JC. Now I just need to do that again to create a pattern. Lol...

:woohoo:

( have ya noticed I don't post about the weight loss. Ummm there is none to post):rolleyes1

me either. Maintaining, so not complaining. yet.

Is 30 mins of grass cutting Cross Training?????

 um, well, I count stall mucking, so sure. Why not.

yesterday I managed to get Nate's room primed. Today the color goes on. :thumbsup2 And I get my haircut. (no color going on there today though )

Stall mucking and grass cutting both count.

Good morning! One more day closer to the weekend! Did I share that Ryan's time for the 40 in very hot weather was 8.2 seconds. He's almost as tall as me and is chubby, but he was the fastest of the kids (about 20 in his group).

Nancy, Painting is Cross Training too!!! :rotfl:

EE, Wow,thats pretty fast... To be young again!!

This morning I did 11 mins on the elliptical at level 10,9,8,7 Then I did push ups and sit ups. I think running on the treadmill last night then elliptical this morning was hard. (but I can't get a workout in tonight)

Happy Tuesday All.
Just counting the days til Friday!

So I was freaking out again and decided to consult our wellness nurse. All is well as far as the healing goes. Yay! They are itching like crazy.
