In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Morning ladies.

I am feeling much better then I had been even on Thursday and despite lots of pressure from family and friends I will be running tomorrow. My time will probably be slower but I am doing it and that's going to have to be enough for me.

Jo- Love the socks, so cute! I used mineral ice(same idea as bio freeze) for awhile because I was having a lot of trouble with one of my calf muscles. In fact I used it on my calf before my last half marathon. It helps to relieve some of the tightness you feel. I got the mineral ice at walgreens and it really was worth it.

Ronda- The Mickey will wait till you're healthy! Where in Europe are you planning to go? I'm insanely jealous! I want to hear your plans so I can live thru you!

Off to do my laundry so I have the socks I want all clean for tomorrow.

totally cute socks. I think I must get me some.

Crazy day (what else is new). Worked a special event at the orchard. It's Becca's birthday, so friends here tonight. No time for "me" - gotta go teen-age-proof my house

Happy birthday Becca!
When me and my brothers were teenages, teen-age-proofing the house meant hiding the booze! :rotfl2: (not from me of course, Ive NEVER been able to handle my booze! :lmao:)

Oh Nancy I forgot to ask - what is banana bread?

Meg & Kat - Have fantastic races!

Ronda - Europe, exciting! Where are you thinking of visiting? Ah, the In-Law story. Just another day in paradise :rotfl:

Jo, E, EE, Paula, LisaV - Hi!

Hope everyone is having a great day! :cool2:

OMG , Where is my brain, HIDE THE BOOZE, DUH! :rotfl2::rotfl2:
( I forgot about that, cuz I never did that :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Kelly, Banana Bread is a sweet bread, with flour, eggs, butter, banana's, nuts, baked up in the oven. I like it warm with a little bit of butter.
I made it once and eat the whole loaf myself.

In many cases, yes. It's hide the booze. With these kids, it's more like hide anything breakable. They tend to sing and dance and get a little crazy. No booze needed

Oh Nancy I forgot to ask - what is banana bread?

think banana muffin - in a loaf like a bread. Total yum.

Of course, *I'm* the one drinking here :rolleyes1 Just a nice glass of red wine is all. And watching old-school musicals. The Music Man. Followed by White Christmas. Hoping to move them on to Footloose

Oh my gosh I LOVE banana bread! I bake all sorts of yummy desserts and treats but seriously I have this one banana bread recipe that I love more then any others. I leave out the nuts though.

Kat- Kick some OBX butt! I'm totally running with you in spirit!

Jo- Can't remember if you've decided to run or not. But if you do, Kick butt! Just listen to your body and you'll do great.

Okay I really need to settle down already and go to bed. A 5:45 wake up call is no joke. Night goddesses!

Kat, Meg, Jo - Have fantastic races!

Can't wait to hear all about them!

Hey ladies. So I finished my half in about 2:30. I might as well share now that I finished my race literally trying to hold back tears. I was sick to my stomach for about 9 miles. But I did it and now I'm going to spend the day relaxing and probably re-watching some of the Harry Potter movies.

Kat and Jo- hope you ladies had good runs.

GO KAT AND MEG

I am done, 8K in the books in 1:07!! I am happy with that time, Plus, I could have done a tad better, but I stayed with a girl from run club that needed some help. She has not ran in over 2 months but she wanted to finish this race.

I got my first BLING!! I will take a pic and put it on facebook. My leg is good, its tight and I know I will feel it tomorrow.

Total Runner High!!
I think I am going to do one more race 1st week of December, but the girl I was running with, was reminding me about the snow and the cold in December, so I don't know yet. Any advice on running in December?

Have a great day all

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR POST. GODDESSES. I WOULD OF NEVER HAVE COME THIS FAR WITH OUT ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME JOIN YOUR GROUP, YOU WERE A LIFELINE I SOOOOOO NEEDED THANK YOU :worship::worship:

Great time Meg! Sorry you weren't feeling well.

I finished OBX in 3:00:31. There were 5-6 of us from my pace group that all stuck together through mile 10, and then we broke into 2s. Danielle and I had vowed that we were going to finish together and help push each other along, and we kept our vow. She has had heel trouble and I have had the shin problems all fall, but we hung in there and finished strong.

The weather was *gorgeous*. 50 at the start, 60 at the finish, and clear as a bell. It's a beautiful, flat, fast course, with a lot of volunteer and fan support. The only hill is at mile 10 when you go over the bridge, and even that one isn't too bad because the views are stunning.

My shin hurt like anything, but tape, calf sleeves, and biofreeze got me through. I iced and took advil after and it's a dull roar. I also got a nice blister on my instep from favoring that leg, but thankfully it hasn't popped.

Now, this week off to the sports med doc so he can confirm my stress fracture suspicions...

Well done Meg, That is a great time. How are you feeling?
Have a nice relaxing day!

I've been horrible today, I've barely moved since I got home so my muscles haven't been complaining too much. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I've had major problems with my stomach all day and when I call my doctor tomorrow for my results I'm going to have to ask her what we can do about it.

Great job on your race. I have a race planned for December and January actually. Cold just means bundling up more and I thought about snow. (We're actually just as likely to have snow at my March race as we are at a race in January. lol) But my feeling is normally you run in the streets for a race and most towns should have the roads clear of snow for cars so it'll be clear for you. But it's what you feel comfortable with.

Kat- Great job! You got it done and that says a lot. Sounds like a beautiful day for your race. A flat course, what's that like? I can't even remember how many hills I ran. Maybe I need to move down to North Carolina. Hope the doctor is able to give you some help!

Okay ladies it's off to bed for me. I'll share some pictures with you all tomorrow.

Hill? or on ramp :lmao:

oh Kat, I hope you are wrong :upsidedow

Whilst you all were running, being all healthy-like & kickin' those races goddess-style, I've been all sluggish this weekend. Totally bleh in the whole physical activity realm. The good news is I did track on sparkpeople today, and even with a substantial glass of wine, I was right on target with my calories.

College applications are almost done (ching ching ching goes the credit card ). Nate has applied to 5 schools. University of Connecticut, University of Vermont, Clarkson, Drexel & Hofstra. Now we wait.

Nancy, it's a hill. Straight up.

The stats from the webside for the bridge (the Washington-Baum bridge) are: 1.05 mi long, 82' high, with a 650' climb to the top at a 4% grade. It's basically from mile 9.5 -10.5.

I have pics, but haven't gotten them over to the computer yet. Perhaps I will post tomorrow. :)

Congrats on your finish Kat, Sorry about your ship. I hope the doc can help.

Meg, sorry your feeling bad also, get better soon.

Nancy,Umm I ran yesterday, I did not say anything about eating healthy

Have a great Monday all!
