In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

All of my gear is laid out. My belly is full and I am settling in for the big day tomorrow. My teammates were awesome at dinner tonight. We all remembered my cousin and agreed that tomorrow's ride would be for him and all the others fighting the fight.

I am blessed to have so many wonderful people to go to for support. I hope you all know that you are definitely part of that group!

Off to sleep for me. I have a race's bummocks to kick tomorrow.

Hope everyone enjoy's their Saturday!!!!! I expect lots of posts with details when I check in tomorrow...

Paula, I am thinging of you. You Go Girl!! Rock that Ride
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Ronda, You have a half this weekend right? or 14 miles? Good luck with that run.

Kat, I am happy to hear the kitty is doing better. Ya know, I have always felt October is a good month... Sending you good vibes:goodvibes

Happy Anniversary Nancy  How the wine tasting tonight~:rotfl2:

Meg, Happy Friday, I bet your glad this week is over.

Today is Alexa's 6th bday. Wow, I look at her and I already see her at 16. DH has enjoyed teasing me all day on how my first baby is now all grown up.
(thats is why he is going to be sleeping on the sofa tonight :lmao: )

I had a bad run today about 3.5 miles and I walked about 2 of it.
My knee still bothers me, but only when I run, then for the rest of the day.
I hope I can push past it and finsih the 15K in 4 weeks :scared1:

Have a great weekend All

Paul- You will rock this! Enjoy this experience, can't wait to hear details!

Kat- Good news on the kitty. Here's hoping for a great October!

Nancy- Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the wine and your time with Seth!

Jo- Hope Alexa had a great birthday!

Thank you all for your advice on the gym. I think I know that it's time to go some place that I can take myself to the next level but sometimes I need to hear that it's ok to make that change.

I'm so glad this week is over! I still feel tense but I think that tomorrow I'll start to feel a little more relaxed. I did go shopping today for a miracle working bra to wear under my amazing dress I bought last week. I ended up with a frilly bra and underwear from Nordstrom that I will leave in the bag till the wedding at the end of the month. Usually if I splurge it's on workout clothes so I won't lie, this has made me feel like a new woman and has reminded me how far I've come with my weight loss. It was a nice little confidence boost.

Okay, I'm off to bed. My work is going apple picking tomorrow morning and I have to pick up my friend early to get there. I love these chances to see the kids outside of school.

Have a great weekend all!

I know, I know...haven't been here in forever. Just beyond swamped. BUT...had to come on and say

GO PAULA!

I am thinking of you this morning and know that you will be AMAZING!

Goddess 100%!

GOOD LUCK PAULA!!! - I KNOW you are going to ROCK this race - kick its bummocks! :cheer2::cheer2:

Hi Erika! :flower3:

Hi Kelly...and everyone...

I feel like I have really let everyone down by abandoning the thread. I am so sorry. I will be back. Seriously. I won't say when, because that seems to bite me in the a$$ but...I will be back. :goodvibes

GO PAULA!!

This morning was a 10 miler that turned into 10.6 or so. Hilly, but man the cooler weather makes SUCH a difference! It was about 55 when we started at 7AM. I stayed with the 13mm group since I have really been slack lately. We did 10.6 in about 2:40 so right on pace with the "add 2 min to a training run" Galloway approach.

I feel absolutely great, no soreness, no pain. My shins are even happy, thanks to the compression sleeves which are the BEST thing ever.

Also, I came home to a UPS express envelope, and thought wth is this? It was my WALLET! Granted, all of the credit/debit type cards have already been replaced, but it was nice to not have to deal with my insurance card, Sams card, etc. which were all slated for this week.

You all are just awesome. Thanks for all of the well wishes for my ride. It was an incredible experience! The full ride report is coming - need to get home and get the pics downloaded and such but here is the quick scoop...

The course was just beautiful and man was it challenging. The day went really well overall, but I left the course at the 85 mile mark because of breathing issues. We are not sure if it was exercise induced ahsma of if the cold temps from earlier in the day just fried my lungs but either way , I could not take a deep breath and was audibly wheezing so the prudent thing was to stop and catch a ride with the support vehicle vs carrying on and risk needing an ambulance.

I am feeling much better but will still call the doc to investigate this as it totally freaked me out.

So that is the short of it. The longer version will come later tonight.

In the meantime - I may not have finished but I had the courage to start. That totally trumps not doing anything. So keep going everyone! The outcome may not always because you expect nut the journey is still worth it! :)

This.
This is why you are an inspiration to me Paula!

Well done Paula, very VERY proud of you for doing the ride! Yes, go to see the doctor, just to make sure!

Also, keep in mind that you rode 85 miles. 85 FREAKIN' MILES!!!!! You rock! :cool1:

Hallelujah Sister!!! she says from her favourite spot on her couch. :lmao:

Seriously Paula - Was thinking of you all day. Wowed. Proud. And just simply sighing. Happy to hear it was an incredible experience. Good for you.

And about the physical issues Paula - hope you figure it out. However, I wonder if the physical body was simply overwhelmed with the emotional toll of the week. I wonder.

Nonetheless, the body does say whoa holy cow at that mileage. :goodvibes Which is a funny statement because I know nada about that. :lovestruc

So nice to hear from you Erika! I understand the chaos of life with 3 busy kids! Can't wait until you are here on a more regular basis! After soccer season perhaps....

Wow. Kind of restores your faith in humanity, doesn't it! :goodvibes

Yay for the good run too! When is your next scheduled event?

Paula - you inspire me every single day. Amazing what you did yesterday. 85 miles. I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around that. Eighty-five miles. Do you realize that's like me, riding all the way to ALBANY? wow. just wow.

And about the physical issues Paula - hope you figure it out. However, I wonder if the physical body was simply overwhelmed with the emotional toll of the week. I wonder.

Good thought Lisa. I would think that could be a definite possibility!

And how are things up North, Lisa? Do I recall correctly that you are headed to WDW in December?

So my weekend has been anything but uneventful.

Seth came home Friday :yay: I hadn't seen him since August 11th, so it was so wonderful to have him come home! However, last night he and one of his friends got hit head-on by a complete jack a$$ driver. Thankfully (and quite miraculously ) no one was injured. The guy who hit him was driving a modified 1965 Shelby Cobra. He came flying out of a parking lot (clearly attempting to demonstrate his superior driving skills with this rocket of a car) lost control, crossed the center line and hit my son who was driving MY car. :headache: Thankfully Seth saw him coming, slammed on the brakes (whilst cursing a blue streak apparently) and tried to avoid the guy. The impact was at a very slow speed as a result - the air bags didn't deploy, no bangs, bumps, bruises - just some sore shoulders from the seat belts that locked up. and they were just 2 miles from home. <sigh> so now it's time to deal with insurance, etc, etc. and 3 drivers, 2 cars, kids with all kinds of activities who we now need to juggle driving schedules with....bleh. But, I'm keeping it all in perspective. No one was hurt. And I didn't even yell at the guy for being an idiot.

Thank God on the bold Nancy. Thank God.

And how are things ]

First love to all. And I do read.

And Nancy - I miss you SO much too. ;) :lovestruc

Things are okay. Mom just finished with her last pre-surgery testing - angiogram and everything came out as the cardiologist expected. O H surgery to replace her aortic valve. She sees the surgeon in two weeks and date will be from there - I hope.

Long long long story but after I was released for surgery I ran my mouth about something that I needed to and suddenly I went to the mail and had another requisition for another test two weeks later. Yes I'm infering that they were playing control issues. No one told me of the change. The doctor who told me that she was absolutley releasing me and had no concerns suddenly had a concern about me out of the blue and a concern she directly told me was not an issue. Right after I pushed them on crap that affeected our progress. I was beyond livid but I have to watch my mouth because I am not in control. The test came back normal but I was scared b/c it's a test that can read problematic very easily. So I'm rereleased. :3dglasses Yeah.

Nathan - long story - had to redo three tests b/c he was over a year with results. And he thought they told him one hospital and it was another and had to be rescheduled. I can't say "transplant team" on this one to be fair to them and I'll leave it at that. So that put us another month behind.

Okay I better stop now. :lmao:

House is going on the market this week as there are so many choices/plans in life that I've had to put on hold this year because of simply not knowing timing. So I said screw it and am doing this one.

Yes December WDW - but it's been hard for me to get excited not knowing about timing of surgery/recovery but I now suspect date might be January anyway.

Life is better than I'm making it sound. You got me on NFL Sunday - endless and the getting together for showings is endless as well! :goodvibes

I just got startled by a clapping screaming "touchdown baby!!!!!!!!!!". :cool2:

Nancy, OMG. I am glad no one was hurt. I hope that the insurance fix fast and painless.

Paula, I am so so so very AMAZED by you!! Congrats :worship::worship:
